Chapter 1 - 1

"My name is Shimizu Mitsuki.

After my next birthday, I'll be five years old. I live in District 7 of Konohagakure, in the Land of Fire. And of course, I'm single.

As a child, I never overexert myself refining chakra, and my physical training is minimal.

I go to bed at 11 PM and make sure to get ten full hours of sleep every day. Before bed, I drink a cup of warm milk.

Then I do twenty minutes of stretching before falling asleep, never letting fatigue or stress carry over to the next day.

The neighbors all say I'm perfectly normal!"

However, Mitsuki had a secret he'd never told anyone: he was actually a transmigrator from another world — Earth.

But Mitsuki's journey to this world wasn't quite like those of other transmigrators before him. He didn't die from overwork at the hands of capitalist exploitation, nor was he flattened by some so-called "Truck-kun" fulfilling its divine duty.

Instead, it happened when a meteor over 24 kilometers in diameter struck Earth at a velocity exceeding 24.5 kilometers per second—a cosmic uppercut that obliterated the planet in an instant.

Before the impact, governments tried to suppress the news, but of course something like that couldn't be hidden for long. Soon enough, the news that the meteor—dubbed "2019 OK"—was about to reset humanity spread like wildfire.

People never know whether tomorrow or disaster will come first. But in the end, Mitsuki could at least say he died understanding why: he had just graduated college and was only one year into working and living on his own. To face the end of the world so soon was… more than a little disappointing.

He hadn't even been a corporate drone for that long.

What Mitsuki never expected was that he would reincarnate into the world of Naruto, retaining memories from his past life.

And not during the time of the original story. No — he was born during the Second Great Ninja War, when the Third Hokage was still in his prime.

It really was a world true to its harsh shinobi roots.

Mitsuki's mother, Shimizu Chiyoko, had been forced to retire as a kunoichi due to injuries sustained in battle. Her health deteriorated rapidly after giving birth to Mitsuki, and within a year, she passed away.

Despite being just an infant, Mitsuki had a fully aware mind from the moment of birth, so he still had impressions of Chiyoko, even with such little time spent together.

Ironically, her name "Chiyoko" (meaning "child of a thousand generations") didn't match her fiery personality at all. Even though she was physically so weak that she couldn't walk on her own, she was always shouting at and scolding Mitsuki's father, Shimizu Kento.

Kento was your typical "nice guy".

Mitsuki had never seen this man in the manga, but to his surprise, Kento was actually quite strong. Before Mitsuki arrived in this world, Kento was already a seasoned elite jonin who had completed several A-rank, and even S-rank, missions.

Those with great power often carry deep guilt, blaming themselves for the misfortunes of those close to them. Kento was no exception.

"She kept pushing herself too hard. It was my fault for not noticing. I was too focused on my missions and neglected her…"

Perhaps even Kento himself didn't realize that every time he looked at Chiyoko, his face wore a forced smile filled with regret.

That expression—pretending everything was okay—was exactly what Chiyoko despised.

She was a strong-willed woman, after all.

To her, Kento's self-pity was an insult to her pride and her shinobi path.

"…Truly, these two are so bad at being honest with each other"

Mitsuki sighed inwardly.

"There are some things that, once missed, never come around again. I know they'll regret this someday"

Still, Mitsuki had already made up his mind: once he grew a bit older, he'd act as a peace broker between his parents and help them finally speak honestly with each other.

After all, they were his family in this life.

That was also why Mitsuki felt so restricted by this tiny infant body.He couldn't even control when he was awake. He'd just randomly fall asleep all the time.

But as mentioned earlier, you never know whether tomorrow or tragedy will come first.

Chiyoko passed away.

Kento had long anticipated it—her condition had truly been that bad.

He'd exhausted every connection he had, even managing to bring in the greatest medical-nin of the shinobi world: Tsunade.

But even she couldn't save Chiyoko.

Mitsuki witnessed all of his father's efforts firsthand. As someone who knew the story, he understood: Kento had done everything humanly possible.

Even if Mitsuki had been in his place, with all the knowledge from his past life, he couldn't have done any better.

Maybe someone like Madara, using White Zetsu cells, could have pulled it off. But even setting aside the impossibility of conveying that info in his current infant state, there'd be no way to explain the source of such intelligence.

Chiyoko's death devastated Kento. As expected.

But the beast of war doesn't stop for personal grief.

After arranging Chiyoko's funeral, Kento only spent a few months caring for baby Mitsuki before he had to return to the frontlines. So… what was to become of baby Mitsuki?

Well, here's a grim little joke: Konoha actually had an established system for children with no one to care for them.

The Leaf Wartime Child Custody Center, simply known as the Child Custody Center, was founded by the Second Hokage precisely for situations like this. It had been active ever since.

The staff consisted mostly of the wives of shinobi currently deployed in battle—women who stayed behind to support the village.

In short, Mitsuki's immediate survival was no longer a concern.

To be honest, even if Kento had stayed to raise him himself, it was doubtful he could have provided better care than these experienced women — some of whom had already raised two or more children.

After Kento returned to the battlefield, every time he came back to the village for a break between missions, Mitsuki could feel a certain emotion in his father's tired expression.

That emotion… was hatred.

Mitsuki prided himself on being good at reading people. He'd originally believed Kento to be a shinobi similar to Hatake Sakumo: warm to allies, ruthless to enemies.

But he hadn't expected Chiyoko's death to change Kento so drastically.

To be honest, Mitsuki was worried about him.

Even someone who had lived their entire past life in peaceful times could understand that bringing personal emotion into war was a surefire way to get yourself killed.
