Chapter 16 - And so it begins (3) (BONUS CHAPTER)

Arthur POV

"Ok, Arthur," I muttered looking into the mirror, loosening my tie a bit. The reflection staring back at me looked... weird.

I normally didn't care for my appearance, but this time, I did, after all Nezu had told me first impressions were everything.

Still it was strange how different I looked, i really did look like a normal 15 year old, on his first day of school, that was of course if you excluded Excalibur and Avalon at my side not that I would ever exclude them.

"It's just your first day of school, nothing wrong with that," I said to my reflection. "Yeah you've talked to other teens before, of course that was when they were suicidal, in peril, or doing damages to their surroundings, but it's mostly the same, right?"

I went out of the bathroom and into my room, on the bed was Nezu's gift, my blue scarf, although now there was a gold accent to it, which Nezu had added, he said that it was to add flourish.

I grabbed it from the bed, the silk was as soft as the first day I wore it, I circled it around my neck. At least I had one friend here, even if he was technically my principal.

"Everything's gonna be fine. Yeah... fine," I continued my pep talk, though my voice didn't sound entirely convinced. The truth was, I had no idea how to be a normal student. A lot of my memories from my time in actual school, were quite hazy, for the simple reason that I hadn't cared to remember them in a long time.

Through my dorm window, I could see the sprawling campus of U.A. and beyond. On the outside of U.A. I could see reporters shoving their mics into students who were just arriving, I could see the door close behind the students who had crossed the mass.

I honestly felt a tinge bad about it but then again, most of them were here because of All Might, so it wasn't entirely my fault right?

I thought about my conversation with Nezu yesterday, our final check-in before classes began.

"Ok," I muttered again trying to encourage myself, my grip tightened over Excalibur's hilt. "Let's do this girls."

I walked out of the dorm room.

My first day of school begins now.

"Oh wait, my backpack."

Looks like it had to wait a little longer.

Narration POV

Midoriya walked towards U.A., he clutched his backpack straps nervously. It was his first day in U.A. something to be both proud and nervous about, at least it felt that way to Midoriya.

When he was close to the school however, he saw a commotion that made his steps slow.

News reporters were piling around the gate like moths to a flame, their cameras and microphones creating a chaotic wall of media attention. Vans with satellite dishes lined the street, and he could see camera crews setting up for what looked like live broadcasts.

He knew why. Of course he knew, everyone in Musutafu, no probably everyone in Japan knew.

All Might was a teacher at U.A. this year.

There was also another reason that had brought its own stockpile of reporters, one that made Midoriya's stomach flutter with a mixture of excitement and nervousness.

Arthur the vigilante was going to be his classmate.

If Deku were to describe Arthur in one word, it would be fast. Fast beyond belief, beyond comprehension, beyond anything he'd ever seen even in professional hero footage, aside from All Might of course.

Now that he was thinking about Arthur, he thought back to the two times he had seen him, although seen was a bit much since hadn't gotten an actual look at him.

The first, of course, was when he had tried to save Bakugo from the sludge villain and failed spectacularly. He remembered the desperation, the way his body had moved before his mind could stop it, the feeling of his fingernails scraping uselessly against the villain's goopy form.

And then, a rush of wind so powerful it had nearly knocked him over, and suddenly Bakugo was free, the villain splattered across nearby buildings. He had hardly seen Arthur's face before he blew past them, just a blur of gold and blue moving at impossible fast, none of them even got injured.

The second time had been during the U.A. entrance exam, after being saved by Uraraka from his own reckless attempt to help others.

He'd been falling from the massive height, his body broken from using One For All beyond his limits, when that same golden streak had appeared.

But that time Arthur simply looked like a golden comet tearing through the air, and almost everyone at the exam grounds had seen it, how he obliterated the other zero-pointers.

Turning them to ash.

Deku closed his fist, determination burning in his green eyes. That was the level he wanted to reach, no, not reach, surpass. He wanted to be the kind of hero who could save everyone.

His determination however crumbled as he finally approached the gathered crowd of reporters. The moment they spotted his U.A. uniform, it was like a feeding frenzy had begun. Microphones were shoved into his face from every angle, cameras flashed, and voices began overlapping as they asked questions at the same time.

"Oh you're a U.A. student? What's your name? What's your quirk?"

"What do you think about having a vigilante in your class?"

"What do you think about All Might teaching here?"

"Do you think Arthur should have been pardoned for his crimes?"

"Do you know Arthur personally?"

"Have you met All Might yet?"

The barrage of questions hit him all at once

It was honestly a bit much.

Midoriya felt his social anxiety spike as the crowd pressed closer, their eager faces and demanding voices making his head spin.

"I-I'm s-sorry, let me-e th-hrough," he stammered, his voice barely audible over the crowd. He tried to push through the sea of reporters, his heart racing as more cameras turned his way. "P-please, I j-just need to get to class..."

Someone grabbed his arm, a reporter trying to keep him from escaping their questions. "Just one quick comment about-"

"I really c-can't, I'm sorry!" Midoriya managed to break free and practically sprinted toward the gate, fumbling for his student ID card with shaking hands.

The gate's sensors recognized his credentials immediately, and the massive doors swung open just wide enough for him to slip through before slamming shut with a decisive thud, separating him from the chaos outside. The sudden silence was almost deafening.

Thank god for the U.A. barrier system.

Deku leaned against the gate for a moment, catching his breath and trying to calm his racing heart.

Shaking his head to clear away the lingering anxiety, he started jogging across the school's courtyard. The campus was even more impressive up close, towering buildings designed to accommodate students with all kinds of quirks, training grounds visible in the distance, basically it was the best school Midoriya had ever laid his eyes on.

"1-A? Where's 1-A?" Deku muttered as he navigated the school halls, which seemed designed more for giants than fifteen-year-olds. The corridors were wide enough for students with size-enhancement quirks, and the ceilings were high enough that someone could probably fly through them comfortably. "This place is way too big."

He turned a corner and there it was, a massive brown door that dwarfed him. The characters 1 and A were written vertically in bright red characters.

"I guess it's that big for people with gigantification quirks," Deku said to himself, then paused at the threshold. This was it. Behind this door were his classmates, the other students who had passed U.A.'s notoriously difficult entrance exam. The future heroes of Japan.

He closed his eyes and placed his hand on the doorknob, steeling himself for what lay ahead. "I'll be among the chosen few who passed the exam. I even heard that only 35 people made it through this year instead of the normal 36, but I made it, so let's do this."

As he began to turn the handle, Midoriya couldn't help but think, and hope, that if Kaacchan and the intense guy with glasses had ended up in Class 1-B, he would be eternally grateful.

Maybe he could start fresh here.

He turned the knob and peeked through the slightly open door, immediately greeted by the sound of raised voices.

"Don't put your legs on the desk! Don't you think that's disrespectful to your classmates and the upper classmen who used this classroom before us!" A tall guy with glasses was gesticulating dramatically toward a familiar blonde figure.

Midoriya's heart sank.

"No, as a matter of fact, I don't think so! Which middle school are you from anyway, you two-bit extra?!" Bakugo yelled back, his legs still defiantly propped up on his desk.

Just his luck, Midoriya couldn't help but think. Of course Kaacchan was in his class. Of course.

"I attended a private school, ahem. I'm from Soumei Junior High School. My name is Iida Tenya." The glasses-wearing student straightened his posture even more, if that was possible.

"Soumei?" Bakugo's voice dripped with disdain. "Well aren't you an elite. Seems like I've got a fucking reason to end you after all."

"What nerve! And you want to be a hero with that attitude?!" Iida asked, reeling back in obvious shock at Bakugo's language and hostility.

That was when Iida noticed Izuku lingering in the doorway. Immediately, his entire demeanor changed as he moved away from Bakugo and approached Midoriya with in an almost robotic manner, no seriously, it looked like he was doing the robot dance.

"Hello! I'm Iida Tenya from Soumei Junior High!"

"Oh yeah, haha," Midoriya stammered, still processing the fact that his middle school bully was going to be his classmate for the next three years. "I overheard your introduction. Uh, I'm Midoriya Izuku, nice to meet you, Iida."

"Midoriya!" Iida's eyes lit up with what appeared to be genuine admiration. "I must hand it to you. You divined the actual nature of that practical skills exam, didn't you? I was completely blind to it, and I totally misread what you were doing! I hate to admit it, but you were the better man!"

Midoriya didn't know how to respond to that level of praise, especially since he actually hadn't figured out the rescue points system at all. His actions had been pure instinct, seeing someone in danger and moving to help without thinking about the consequences. Instead of explaining this, he could only scream internally while trying to manage a nervous smile.

Several students who were already seated in the classroom were beginning to stare at their increasingly loud conversation, which only made Midoriya more uncomfortable. The attention felt similar to the reporters outside, though thankfully less aggressive.

Then he heard a familiar voice behind him.

"Ah! It's you, curly hair!"

Deku straightened up instantly, startled but pleased as he turned around to see who had spoken. A smile forming on his face when he recognized the kind girl from the entrance exam, the one who had saved him from falling and breaking even more bones than he already had.

She had shoulder-length brown hair and bright, cheerful eyes, she was wering the standard U.A. uniform like everyone else.

"You made it into U.A., just like Present Mic said you would! Yay, go you!" She made a little celebratory gesture with her hands. "By the way, that punch you threw at the zero-pointer was totally out of this world! I've never seen anything like it!"

However, before Midoriya could properly reply, most likely with a stammer, the classroom door opened once more with a soft creak. The conversation in the room seemed to quiet slightly as everyone's attention was drawn to the newcomer.

At that moment, Midoriya felt a familiar sense of awe wash over him as he took in who had just walked into their classroom.

Blonde hair in a disheveled yet somehow organized mess.

Piercing blue eyes that seemed to take in everything at once.

And definitely not All Might.

This was Arthur.

Before Midoriya could say anything to his classmate, Arthur spoke up first, something in his voice making them listen.

"Sorry, but could you guys please move forward a bit? You're blocking the door."

A/N: I have decided to just sit down, scrunch up and write the bonus chap now, since at the rate you guys are going you may actually get a spot in the top 15 and that would make me have two bonus chaps on my list, which I don't want lol. Expect the normal chapter in between three or four hours (most likely don't quote me on it).

Some things to say, Nezu's and Arthur's relationship, is mostly the same as before the fight, they just have a better grasp on each other's personalities, but they are still mentor and student alongside being friends.

Also this chapter was pretty fun to write, especially since Arthur is basically a legend (ha, get it) in Japan right now. Thx for reading. Hope you all enjoyed reading this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it. Author out.

Wait no, author not out, I have a thing for you guys to do, pls give me fic recommendations on this site that are good, aren't mtls, aren't harem and aren't Ai, cause I can't fucking find any new ones. Now really. Author out.
