Chapter 1 - Awakening

Prologue

Long ago, a great demon—born to lay destruction wherever it passed—was summoned into the realm of Ikaris. Blood flowed. Thousands were massacred. The land plunged into ruin.

Only one force stood in its way: the legendary Beast Tamer and his Seven Protectors. They rose against the demon in a battle that shook the heavens. Victory came at a terrible cost—their lives.

Years passed. Ikaris healed. Peace returned. The land thrived once more...

Chapter One: The Beginning of Destiny

"Blake!! Head to the station now, the carriage will soon take off!"

Hilda, the elderly caretaker, called out as she pushed a skinny 17-year-old boy out of the crumbling stone walls of the old church.

Born an orphan and raised within a humble church-turned-orphanage, Blake's life had always been filled with struggle and hardship. But today, everything was about to change.

He looked back one last time, waving to Hilda as her silhouette faded behind the heavy wooden doors.

His heart pounded with hope. If I pass, I'll be admitted into the Bureau of Magical Beasts. Maybe… just maybe… I'll summon a powerful spiritual beast and become a true Beast Tamer someday...

---

Hours Later...

The carriage screeched to a halt. Blake stepped out and his eyes widened.

"Wow… so this is Ikaris, huh?" he whispered in awe. "The houses are so big and shiny. When I become a Beast Tamer, I'll get to have a luxurious house too."

His wonder was short-lived.

"Beast Tamer, huh? Haha, don't make me laugh," a mocking voice rang out. Blake turned to see a young man, around 18, dressed in immaculate noble clothing. "Scrawny little peasants like you can't get anywhere close to becoming a Beast Tamer. Be thankful if you even manage to summon a common beast."

Blake blinked. "Wow… so it's that hard to be a Beast Tamer? And who are you? You look really rich and noble."

The boy scoffed. "I suppose an illiterate imp like you doesn't know my name. Behold—I am Kai of the Atlas family, one of the top ten noble houses in the realm! My brother is Ignis, one of the Seven Protectors of Ikaris. You should be grateful you had the chance of meeting me today."

Gasps erupted from nearby students.

"What!? His brother is Ignis the Dragon Protector?"

"Lucky guy… having a powerful brother like that."

---

A booming voice echoed across the square.

"Attention everyone! The beast evoking will begin soon. Please get your number and move toward the hall."

The crowd surged toward the registration center. Blake was handed number 277—one of the last few among the 303 candidates.

Moments later, a middle-aged man in dignified robes floated above the crowd, speaking with authority.

"Good morning, everyone. I am the principal of the Bureau of Magical Beast, and I am pleased to announce that the session will now begin."

"You are to come forward according to your number. Touch the Evocation Orb, and your magical beast will surface. The grade of your beast will then be assessed by our faculty. Good luck."

---

The first few students stepped forward.

Some evoked low-tier beasts. Others failed to evoke anything.

Then came number 47—Kai of the Atlas family.

As soon as he placed his hand on the orb, a deafening roar shook the hall. Flames erupted behind him as a massive flaming bull emerged, its horns ablaze and eyes fierce with pride.

"Ahhhh… it's the Atlas family's signature element—the red flames on the bull!"

"Such huge potential for his age."

Kai stood tall, drinking in the awe-struck stares.

Next was a boy with a cold, unreadable expression. He stepped forward silently and placed his hand on the orb.

Instantly, the aura of death descended. Weak-willed students collapsed. Beads of sweat dripped from even the strongest among them. Teachers tensed.

From the darkness behind him, a massive, majestic serpent slithered into view—its gaze piercing, ancient, and proud.

"I-I-Is that the legendary beast of death and chaos?" a teacher stammered. "The Basilisk!"

"A corrupted spiritual beast that feeds on fear and doubt," the principal added gravely. "It controls death with its fiery gaze. I'm certain… he can only be from that clan."

The serpent's presence alone crushed the room in dread until it finally vanished. Everyone exhaled in relief.

Next, another noble touched the orb. A radiant light burst out, filling the hall with warmth and security. The heavy tension from the Basilisk was instantly dispelled.

"That halo… it can't be…"

"It's the Atlas family again! I heard they specialize in fortification beasts with powerful defenses."

A giant tortoise rose from the ground behind him, its presence sturdy and unshakable.

The procession continued with students summoning all kinds of beasts—some strange, some mighty, many ordinary.

---

Then, at last… it was Blake's turn.

Number 277.

He stepped forward, trembling.

All eyes turned to him.

He placed his palm on the glowing orb...
