When Captain Johnson realized the Monster in front of him was the reason for his current predicament, a complex expression flickered across his lizard-like face. In a split second, it was replaced with nothing but subservience and appeasement. He flipped over, exposing his soft underbelly, and his long tail swayed rhythmically, much like a dog.
"Hahaha! Not bad, you're smart, Winston."
Norman Osborn ruffled Captain Johnson's head, then turned his gaze underground. Suddenly, he stomped his feet, unleashing an impact that registered hundreds of tons.
From the sky, the solid ground began to crack from Norman Osborn's feet, the fissures rapidly spreading and extending over a hundred meters. The scene was spectacular, as if he had split the entire land apart.
The sewers were exposed to the open air, and Black Widow and the others, who were hesitating whether to retreat, were all knocked to the ground. They were completely defenseless against this attack, which was akin to a natural disaster.
Steve stared in astonishment at Captain Johnson. He hadn't imagined that an individual's strength could cause such terrifying destruction.
Peter Parker trembled as he spoke.
"We definitely can't beat this Monster... We're going to die..."
The sound of treads scraping against the ground echoed from the surface. The U.S. Army's ground forces were the first to arrive. Black Widow had used S.H.I.E.L.D.'s authority to notify the U.S. military before entering the underground facility.
A previous Stryker Armored Squad had been ambushed by the Lizardmen, resulting in the death of all personnel, which had caused the U.S. military to lose face. They had withdrawn those lightly armored infantry fighting vehicles and replaced them with M1A2TUSK tanks equipped with tank urban survival kits.
The driver in the lead tank shuddered upon seeing such a terrifying scene, and immediately maneuvered the tank backward, only to collide with the tank behind it.
How could anyone withstand such a powerful monster?
Boom!
Not all the soldiers were so cowardly. A tank fired its main gun, the recoil causing the entire tank to shudder violently. The depleted uranium armor-piercing round slammed into Norman Osborn's scaled hide, but the scales remained completely undamaged. Instead, the tough projectile itself shattered into fragments due to the impact.
"Fire! Fire!"
The armored squad's commander was clearly a highly capable individual. He quickly quelled the chaos and ordered all tanks to open fire on the target.
The continuous barrage of artillery fire erupted, the muzzle blasts even shattering the glass curtain walls of the surrounding buildings.
Captain Johnson, startled, ducked behind Norman Osborn. He could withstand direct fire from small arms, and even shrug off grenade launchers with his eyes closed, but the main gun of a main battle tank was definitely beyond his ability to endure.
"Clang! Clang!"
Norman Osborn took the brunt of all the incoming shells, his mountain-like form remaining steadfast. Having been hit by more than a dozen shells, he was still completely unharmed.
"Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!"
A series of high-frequency buzzing sounds filled the air, and a dazzling blue light ignited from the fins on his tail, extending up his spine. This was the discharge cells charging the electromagnetic organ located in his throat, level by level.
A jet of eerie blue Radioactive Heat Ray spewed from his mouth. The moment it made contact with the tanks, it unleashed a terrifyingly high temperature. The sturdy composite armor melted rapidly, and in an instant, nothing but wreckage remained.
Norman Osborn turned his head, sweeping the Radioactive Heat Ray in a fan-like arc. All the tanks were engulfed. Under the intense heat, the roadside melted directly into lava, erupting with flames. The remaining wreckage of the tanks slowly sank into the lava, leaving not a single trace.
Norman Osborn closed his mouth after spitting out a few sparks. This was his first time using the Radioactive Heat Ray, and he was very satisfied with its power.
He walked above Steve and the others, Captain Johnson in tow.
"Tell me, where is that person?"
His voice was like thunder, making Black Widow cover her ears in pain.
"What person?"
Steve mustered his courage and met Norman Osborn's gaze.
"You know, the one connected to the Green Goblin. They're an Alien Species, a type of being that descended from the stars to Earth."
Godzilla, as a species that originated on Earth in ancient times, was one of Earth's protectors. They had fought against all kinds of evil beings and aliens that descended to Earth, even against the powerful Celestials. Norman Osborn had fused with Godzilla's instincts, so he could confirm that Broly and Kakarot were not Earthlings.
He naturally had no intention of protecting Earth. He wanted to kill Kakarot, simply to make a show of force to Broly.
This continent was too narrow, only able to accommodate one super-strong individual. He wanted to kill Broly and become the undisputed strongest.
Steve and the others were taken aback. They felt that the Monster in front of them had no need to lie. Moreover, the appearance of a strong individual like Green Goblin was too sudden. If they were all Aliens, then everything could be explained.
"I don't know."
Steve tightened his grip on his shield. Kakarot had protected them in the recent battle, and judging by her behavior towards those Orcs, she was clearly not a vicious person. Compared to her, Norman Osborn, who had killed a group of police officers and innocent citizens as soon as he appeared, should be the real Alien.
"Tiresome persistence."
Norman Osborn yanked on the steel cable in his hand, the immense force causing Captain Johnson's eyes to roll back.
"Go down there and eat a few people, teach them a lesson."
He spoke, releasing the steel cable in his hand. Captain Johnson crawled on the ground like a lizard, then leaped underground. His cold, vertical pupils held complex emotions as he stared at the group before him.
Steve raised his shield, protecting his upper body. He knew this journey was likely a death sentence, but still didn't want to give up resistance.
"I didn't expect to die so soon after waking up. I'm a little unwilling. I'll try to hold them off. You guys find a way to escape."
He forced a wry smile.
"Don't joke around, Captain. You can't hold them off at all with their strength. Being caught and eaten is such an ugly death. Instead of that, it's better to die fighting alongside you. Being able to be a comrade of Captain America has always been a dream of mine since childhood."
Peter Parker said in a somewhat hoarse voice. The others also looked determined, clearly prepared to live and die together. Even Bob Iger didn't leave with Kakarot and the others.
Captain Johnson roared, his figure flashing as he pounced towards Steve. Jealousy and hatred gnawed at his heart like vipers. Only by killing Steve could he regain peace.
Just then, a whistling sound suddenly came from the air, and a green figure descended from the sky, slamming into him.
"Hope I'm not late. This guy's been quite a handful, delayed me quite a bit."
The MK2 hovered in the air, and Tony Stark's unique, flippant voice came from within.
