Chapter 6 - Painting town

Knock! Knock!

The knocking got louder and faster to the point where Leon began getting rash and stood up to open it. When he did, no one was there. A cold air swept into the room causing him to gulp and his hairs to stand up.

There was no one in there. Leon peeked into the hallway and saw the soft glow of light illuminate the hallway. He left the room and began walking.

He soon reached the stairs leading to the first floor and climbed down. The room looked pretty normal. There was a nice spacious kitchen and living room. But strange enough there were plates with food on the dinner table. Rye bread, meat stew, olives, cheese, Salami, water...

That's alot of food huh?

But he didnt approach and try to eat it. Instead he walked around for a bit and after exploring the whole house he decided it was time to step outside.

The front door creaked open and Leon breathed in the fresh air which was completely different from east borough.

It feels like a whole new world...

Leon walked down the stone paved street which had no street lamps at all. He felt as though an invisible force was pulling him somewhere. If he were to compare the architecture of this place to a place from his world, it would be the island of santorini

Leon looked up at the sun out of curiosity and was shocked. There was a single eye staring back at him, the sun was staring back. Leon quickly turned his gaze away and kept walking until reaching a flower shop named "moonlight flowers".

To the side of the store was a greenhouse that was connected to the building. When leon tried entering the store he couldn't, the door didnt budge one bit. But then he turned his attention to the greenhouse and tried the door there.

He reached out, grasped the handle and pulled!

The door surprisingly opened and Leon walked in. The green house was almost overgrown with plants and flowers... but in the middle was something that didn't really fit the place. It was painting.

On it was a man with a head dress. A shaman reaching his hand into the heart of a man while some kind of spiritual energy danced around them. There were totems behind this shaman.

The shaman's last prayer.

The painting had a brass frame and dangerous aura around it. Leon's gut told him not to get too close.

Ill just stay curious.

Leon looked down at his body and then tugged at his shirt. The bullet hole had healed! But now there were yellow cracks formed around it.

This...

Leon didn't understand it one bit. How could he? He had no knowledge of matters regarding beyonders.

This is probably beyond my comprehension

Suddenly a powerful headache hit his head and Leon fell onto his knees. His skin began crumbling and falling to the floor before his vision went black once again.

"XXX"

Leon heard faint whispers of something, it wasn't directed at him, and he couldn't understand it either.

...

Leon sat up straight the moment he woke up and looked around. He found himself lying on the couch of Simon's office by himself. Then the door opened revealing a beautiful woman. She had long chestnut hair, full lips, a beautiful round face... her eyes were blue like the sky. Each finger on her right hand had a ring, and her index had two.

"W-who are you?! What are you doing in the bosses office?!"

Leon got up the instant he saw this woman and took a step back.

Simon hired a street girl?

The woman shook her head.

"Its me you idiot! Simon!"

What?

"My former teacher never told me! Sequence 7 of the assassin pathway turns you into a woman! Listen... I know you might not believe it... but thats just the beyonder world Leon. I guess this is kind of a warning for what you are about to get yourself into"

Without waiting a second Simon took out a iron cigar case and handed it to Leon.

"The formula for sequence 9 marauder is in there. Aswell as one of the main ingredients. Actually, once you have the ingredients come talk to me and ill help you concoct it. Also, call me Charlotte now."

When Charlotte noticed that Leon was still standing there unmoving she let out a exhale.

"Im sorry, I was foolish. I didn't expect the Zmanger gang to get you like that. The thing is... I had almost lost control. I wasn't in a right state of mind. I wasn't thinking it through. I gave Arthur that vial because I knew things would go wrong yet."

Charlotte's eyes looked down and she walked towards the window.

"It was all my fault for nearly getting you killed. Arthur is still healing, as for you... I don't know how you healed that quick, you were out for 2 days. When I tried finding out using the means of divination, I almost died."

There's something in me?

Leon opened the iron cigar case and found a piece of rolled paper and a small vial.

Main ingredients:

1 Blood‑Speckled Black Mosquito.

1 Core of a Candle Devourer.

Supplementary Ingredients:

100 milliliters of Another's Blood.

Nail fragments from Nine Different Individuals.

1 Sapphire.

10 grams of Verbena Powder.

Leon glanced at the vial again and saw that inside it was a large black Mosquito with long limbs. Its legs had red dots everywhere.

The nail fragments are easy, I can just ask the white hound members for their nail fragments. I can ask boss for the blood... but 1 Sapphire? Isn't that expensive? I guess it's time to steal.

Charlotte handed Leon 10 pounds out of nowhere. Leon's mouth almost went agape when he saw the money and instantly stuffed it into his pocket.

"Boss, do you think you can get 9 nail fragments from different people and 100 milliliters of anothers blood?"

Charlotte nodded and Leon thanked her before leaving. He had come in terms with the fact his boss went from male to female pretty quickly.

I guess he went from a father figure to a mother figure...

At the bottom of the formula was also an address. East borough golden time street. Leon took the carriage there now that he had 13 pounds to his name. The richest he's ever been.

It was still daytime, but at the moment there was heavy rain. Leon brought an umbrella with him though.

Once he reached the run down street he got off the public carriage and wandered into a dark alley and up to a random door. He opened it and stepped into the elevator. After ten seconds he reached the underground market.

He took a look at the formula once more.

I need 1 core of a candle Devourer, 1 Sapphire and 10 grams of verbena powder, the rest should be taken care off by sim- i mean Charlotte.

"Excuse me, do you have 1 core of a Candle Devourer?"

Leon began asking each vendor for a core of a Candle Devourer until one man said yes. He was a short man with a messy bear and short brown hair.

"of course i do, 5 pounds!"

The man pointed to a wax and pus covered orb sitting on a piece of paper. The item was constantly oozing out wax and pus. It smelled of sulfur.

"Five pounds?" Leon didn't know if this was too little or too much. The man nodded and sighed.

"Its a pretty common item, it lacks much spirituality. Some sell it for much more! You get the best prices from me!"

Leon was thinking about it until he accepted the offer and bought the core for 5 pounds. The core of a candle Devourer was the size of a marble. After this purchase Leon went looking for the verbena powder and Sapphire. Currently he was looking for the verbena powder.

It doesn't specify whether the Sapphire has to be high grade or not.

While wandering the tunnels he noticed a figure in robes performing Astrolabe Divination. He could see the figures handsome features and gray eyes.

Eli cooper!

Since boss told him not to get involved Leon decided to just walk past Eli without another look. Leon caught sight of a man selling different powders and approached.

"Do you have 10 grams of verbena powder?" Leon asked while staring at the different powders.

"Of course, i have everything you might want. 10 grams from 1 pound"

Im losing all my money here...

But he still spent that one pound on the 10 grams. He quickly caught sight of a man selling different crystals. The man was surrounded by different crystals, but he didn't look prepared for thieves strange enough. So he approached.

"How much for 1 Sapphire?"

The man rubbed his temples and said: "I have some worth 1 pound... and some worth 100. Which one do you want?" The man asked and reached for some Sapphires. He had setup a table and behind him was a shelf.

"I'll take the Sapphire for 1 pound... thanks."

With that he handed the money to the man and began walking away. The seller smirked and pulled out a monocle, wearing it on "his" right eye.

"Interesting."
