Chapter 6 - Nothing Ever Stays

Aiden grunted as he was dragged across the forest floor.

"Okay, okay— I'll go with you!" he snapped. "Just… stop dragging me."

The girl stopped, her expression unreadable. She stared at him for a second, then sighed and let go. He stumbled back onto his feet, brushing dirt from his clothes.

"Good," she said. "Stay close."

Soon, Aiden was walking alongside her and the two pilots, heading deep into the woods. The trees thickened around them, and the air grew colder the farther they went.

He glanced over at her. "So… what exactly are we hunting?"

The girl let out a short breath. "You think there's anything to hunt out here?"

She pushed past a branch and stepped over a fallen log.

"We're not after animals. This forest isn't normal. We're gathering what's still usable — mushrooms, clean water, and maybe herbs to help that kid back at camp."

Aiden didn't respond. He felt dumb for asking.

Time passed — a lot of it. The shadows grew longer. Hours slipped by in a haze of walking, searching, and silence. The sky had already darkened by the time Aiden noticed how far they'd come.

"Do we really have to be out this far?" he asked, tired. "It's already night."

The girl stopped walking. She turned toward him, and for once, her voice softened.

"If we go back without finding anything… that kid's cold could get worse. A lot worse."

For a moment, Aiden saw something in her eyes that hadn't been there before — real worry. Not for herself, but for someone else.

She looked away quickly, hiding it behind her usual calm.

But then the forest changed.

The air became heavier.

A strange, familiar sound rustled from the trees — distant footsteps, unnatural breathing, like something moving just beyond the dark.

Aiden tensed. So did the pilots.

Then it happened.

The Girl gets pierced by some horrifying antlers and get lifted to the air, blood pouring down

Then one by one the pilots are torn apart infront of him

Then Came his turn

But Suddenly.

Aiden opened his eyes, he was back at the campfire.

Same spot.

Same log.

The fire crackled softly. Survivors moved around him, talking quietly.

But the pilots were gone.

But the girl was back at the same log from yesterday

Nowhere to be seen.

He sat up, heart pounding. He checked his phone.

Ding.

[✖] Game #2: "Investigator" — LostTry harder next time if you don't want to lose something precious.

Aiden tapped the screen.

The game list loaded — but Game #2 was missing.

Gone. As if it had never existed.

He stared at the screen, the emptiness sinking in.

Whatever this "game" was… it had rules.

And losing meant something was taken.

Permanently.
