Chapter 97 - Chapter 97: A Wild Idea, Level Forty Seven

By the time they returned to Gai Yue's secluded dwelling, it was already late at night. The three each chose a wooden cabin to rest in.

But Oscar did not cultivate that night. Instead, he had a sudden, bold idea regarding the two effects of his fourth soul skill.

His fourth soul skill had two functions: one was Clone, and the other was Copy.

If he ate his own Clone Sausage, he could gain a clone that had exactly the same strength as his true self, and was linked to him in spirit.

Most importantly, the clone had no time limit. It would only vanish if its soul power was completely exhausted, or if Oscar voluntarily recalled it.

Aside from being unable to cultivate to increase its soul power level, the clone could still meditate to restore consumed soul power.

In other words, as long as the clone didn't fully expend its soul power, it could theoretically exist forever, while possessing the same strength as Oscar's real body.

If that were true, then Oscar would have endless room to maneuver.

After all, one Oscar and two Oscars or even three, four…were completely different things.

This meant he could use clones to do all sorts of things. And even if the clones were destroyed, he would suffer no true loss at most, he'd just need time to recover his soul power.

Of course, each Clone Sausage consumed one third of Oscar's soul power, and recovering it would take time.

But Oscar himself was a top tier food type soul master. If he ate his first soul skill, the Super Recovery Big Sausage, he could basically break the system.

Moreover, he could casually create more clones in his free time. After being created, clones consumed no further soul power, and as long as they didn't use it all at once, they could restore their own energy through cultivation.

In this way, Oscar essentially had countless "power banks." When a clone was recalled, its remaining soul power would return to him.

For example, if a clone had used no soul power at all, recalling it would directly restore one third of Oscar's soul power.

And since his true body and clones shared a spiritual link, even if they weren't by his side, Oscar could draw their power into himself with a mere thought.

In this process, he wouldn't need to consume any sausage just a single thought was enough.

That was equivalent to giving Oscar a wireless power bank more convenient than eating a Super Recovery Big Sausage!

There was only one flaw: clones could not cultivate to advance. If Oscar, at level forty three, created a clone, then that clone would forever remain at level forty three. Even if Oscar himself advanced, the clone's strength would stay the same.

That was probably the only downside.

But clones could also eat Copy Sausages, and gain the martial soul of the blood donor.

Based on this, Oscar suddenly had a daring thought: what if one man could stand against an entire nation…

He could use Clone Sausages to produce clones, then have those clones make more Clone and Copy Sausages. This would lead to infinite recursion.

Since clones could last indefinitely as long as their soul power wasn't fully consumed, they could theoretically exist forever unless killed or recalled.

So long as Oscar created a few clones at each break through or even at every level up he could accumulate them endlessly.

If he began now, in the future he could possess infinite clones, ranging from level forty three all the way up to the highest level he could eventually reach.

If this idea truly worked, then someday, Oscar could indeed fight an entire country by himself.

And with Copy Sausages, he might even rival the entire world of soul masters!

Thinking of this, Oscar's breath grew heavier. If his idea became reality, in time he would become the uncrowned king of the Douluo Continent.

The thought was both fantastical and terrifying if realized, Oscar would be unbeatable.

He only needed to conceal his identity, blending into the crowd. As long as no one discovered him, he would remain invincible.

But for now, it was only an idea. Whether it could come true still required experimentation.

By the time Oscar had organized his thoughts, dawn had already arrived.

He pondered for a moment, then used his fourth soul skill to produce a Mimicry Sausage. After eating it, a perfect clone of Oscar appeared at his side.

Then Oscar ate a Super Recovery Big Sausage himself and went out to make breakfast, leaving the clone in the room to continue sorting through plans, ensuring no flaws in the future.

In truth, this was like multitasking, since the clone and Oscar shared a mind. Essentially, it was Oscar himself thinking on two tracks at once.

But for Oscar, multitasking was basic. Controlling swords required dual, even triple or quadruple focus.

Now, Oscar could command five flying swords simultaneously in a killing formation true multitasking at the level of five streams of consciousness.

After preparing breakfast, Oscar, Gai Yue, and Dugu Yan ate together, then set off for Bingling Gorge.

The gorge was over eighty li away, but with sword flight, it wouldn't take long.

Half a day later, after enjoying the scenery, they finally arrived. Bingling Gorge was a beautiful, unique place in the far north: an icy mountain ravine a thousand meters deep, with temperatures dropping to below minus 100°C in its depths.

But even the lowest ranked of them, Dugu Yan, was already over level forty. After consuming the Lovesick Heartbroken Red, her physique had greatly improved. At the gorge's entrance, she only felt a trace of chill, not true cold.

At the gorge, Gai Yue once again took the lead. Before entering, he ate one of Oscar's Clone Sausages, leaving a clone behind to guard Oscar and Dugu Yan.

After all, there were many ten thousand year soul beasts nearby. Even though Oscar and Dugu Yan hid in a concealed spot, leaving a clone behind was safest.

Even at only sixty percent of Gai Yue's power, the clone still had Contra level strength.

And even if they met a beast too strong for the clone, it could at least buy time until Gai Yue returned.

Meanwhile, Oscar discovered another use of clones long distance communication.

Since true body and clone shared minds, Gai Yue could report back through the clone.

Oscar realized even more clearly: the Clone Sausage was truly a buglevel ability.

As Gai Yue's clone kept watch, it spoke: ", I think I've found the Ice Source Flood Dragon you mentioned. But there's not just oneit's a whole group…"

Oscar frowned: "Teacher, you only need to capture one around fifteen thousand years. Don't linger."

The clone snorted: "Brat, do I need you to tell me? There are at least ten of them here. The strongest looks over seventy thousand years…"

Its brows furrowed. "Enough talk. I'm going in!"

…

After half an hour, the clone vanished clearly recalled for soul power recovery. Soon after, Gai Yue returned carrying a snow white Ice Source Flood Dragon over seven meters long.

Throwing it down, he sighed: "That group of flood dragons even had a fusion attack like ability. Their combined assault really put pressure on me…"

After a pause, he added: "But when it comes to ice… those beasts are still no match for your teacher."

Dugu Yan's face lit up when she saw the dying dragon, barely clinging to life.

Oscar spoke at once: "Fourteen thousand fivehundred year Ice Source Flood Dragon. Sister, finish it and absorb the ring."

Nodding, Dugu Yan's right hand transformed into jade green dragon claws, piercing the beast's heart.

As its life faded, a pitch black ten thousand year soul ring slowly formed. Dugu Yan sat cross legged, released her martial soul, and began absorbing her fourth ring.

With her body and spirit strengthened by the Lovesick Heartbroken Red, she could absorb up to fifteen thousand year rings. The dragon's bloodline made it high quality, but it was just at her limit.

The process was tense, but safe. It simply took longer.

After a full day, the black ring settled onto her body, her aura rising to level forty seven!

Gai Yue was shocked. Oscar, however, looked unsurprised as if he had already expected it.

Her breakthrough wasn't as exaggerated as it seemed. After all, a top immortal herb like Lovesick Heartbroken Red could boost a soul master by nearly ten levels.

Now she was level forty seven, with two of those levels likely from absorbing the ten thousand year ring itself. The herb had probably boosted her by five levels or so.

Oscar understood why: most of the herb's power had gone into evolving her martial soul, rather than pure level growth.

And martial soul evolution was far more valuable than just numbers.

Her Jade Phosphor Serpent had evolved into a top tier Jade Phosphor Poison Dragon and this was only the beginning.

With future growth, her martial soul evolution would progress even further.

After absorbing the ring, Dugu Yan's appearance also changed: her green eyes now held a streak of icy blue, and her jade green hair bore strands of the same hue.

Clearly, the true dragon bloodline of the soul ring had purified her martial soul again, reflecting in her body.

If before her beauty had barely reached firstrate, now she was truly top tier.

Combined with her alluring figure, if she wore a qipao now, she could leave Oscar utterly entranced…

If Gai Yue hadn't been present, the thirteen year old Oscar might not have restrained himself from having a "deep, intimate exchange" with her.

Oscar was no prude. He had only held back before because of Dugu Bo. But now, with his bond to Dugu Yan unshakable, if given the chance, he wouldn't suppress himself.

After all, as the saying goes: holding back too long causes problems and Oscar had no wish to become a "problem boy"!

Dugu Yan stood happily, her four rings two yellow, one purple, one black floating around her. She raised her gaze to Oscar:

", I've reached level forty seven! My soul power isn't unstable at all it's as solid as a Soul King's. The Lovesick Heartbroken Red gave me such a huge boost!"

Her voice trembled with excitement. Clearly, she was ecstatic about her gains.

Oscar smiled: "Congratulations, Sister. I'm only level forty three, and you're already forty seven."

Gai Yue also laughed: "Yan yan, this breakthrough is amazing. If your grandfather knew, he'd jump with joy!"

Dugu Yan beamed: "Hehe, it's all thanks to the Lovesick Heartbroken Red that gave me."

She retracted her martial soul and embraced Oscar gently. "Thank you, ."
