Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: A Challenge

Later that day, to prevent those few students from retaliating against his two desk partners or reporting the incident to teachers and parents, Shiyu Uchiha set up a fight with them. He told them to find backup, and that they'd settle everything tomorrow night in the Woods at the village's edge.

The ones who had just been beaten naturally weren't willing to accept it. Their first thought? Go grab some backup and save face. Especially since Shiyu Uchiha had torn up all their notebooks, cutting off any way for them to put up with it quietly—they simply couldn't contain this issue anymore.

Shiyu also wanted to make some noise with this opportunity. After all, such an opportunity was truly rare. Plus, he realized that being too quiet wasn't always good—it made people think he was easy to bully. When they even started targeting his friends, if he didn't respond, there was no telling how much further they might go next time—perhaps even coming after him directly.

After everything concluded, Shiyu took his two desk partners away. First, he received their sincere gratitude, and then through casual conversation, learned that this situation had already lasted about half a month. At first, it only involved finishing a bit of homework for them, and the two had tried to resist but were physically overpowered. So they just swallowed their pride—it wasn't *that* bad at first.

As the girls continued putting up with things, more and more assignments were piled onto them. Now, by the time they got home, they had no time left to practice the jutsu taught at school. If this continued, they definitely wouldn't pass the promotion exam.

That's how wicked those boys really were, so the two girls carried enormous pressure lately and sincerely felt deeply grateful toward Shiyu for helping resolve their problem.

Luckily, Shiyu finally stepped in to help them and gave them hope again. But the two girls still couldn't stop worrying about what would happen the next day. In the end, only after he solemnly guaranteed them under the name of the Uchiha Clan did they finally relax and stop worrying.

That evening, after walking both of his desk partners home, he arrived much later than usual. But Uchiha Shizhi didn't ask many questions. After dinner, just like usual, under Uchiha Shizhi's guidance, the siblings once again began their sword training. The difference was, now they had already reached the seventh form.

This form was [Tui], a very common move during swordsmanship duels. So, as soon as they initially grasped it, following Uchiha Shizhi's orders, the pair began sparring using only this single technique. Through such sparring, their progress accelerated far quicker than when practicing alone.

Come to think of it, Shizhi insisted each move must be practiced for a full month—Shiyu suspected this was due to her obsessive-compulsive tendencies.

Shiyu really wanted to ask her, why with one form per month, obviously thirteen forms couldn't be completed in a year—wouldn't that make it asymmetrical? In the end, though, he suppressed his curiosity, afraid he might get beaten up.

The next day, seven students failed to turn in their homework due to the destroyed notebooks—including Sarutobi Kajin. The homeroom teacher became furious, feeling someone was openly challenging his authority. He immediately sent those seven straight to the hallway to stand as punishment.

They stood there the entire morning until lunchtime when the punishment finally ended. Then they were forced to redo their assignments, putting a temporary end to the ordeal. At this point, Shiyu Uchiha had also identified who his enemies were and was silently preparing himself.

That afternoon, when school ended, Shiyu Uchiha exchanged glances with the group led by Kajin Sarutobi. He made a provocative gesture, then walked out ahead of everyone.

Right behind him, the group of seven led by Kajin Sarutobi followed closely, heading straight for the small forest behind the academy grounds.

His two desk mates, Shun Mizutani and Taki Tachibana, hesitated a few times but finally found the courage to follow as well. This pleased Shiyu Uchiha greatly—after all, nobody wants to help a coward, although it wasn't something he truly cared about anyway.

However, what none of these ten students knew was that a teacher was following them—a special jonin serving as the school's head instructor.

Clearly, their homeroom teacher, who had been in education for many years, had sensed something wrong and reported it to the school authorities. That was why this teacher had been assigned specifically to monitor them closely, in case these students lost control and caused an accident.

Once everyone arrived, before the others could speak, Shiyu Uchiha took the initiative. He started off with a show of righteousness, then pretended to be the peacekeeper as he said: "Everyone, we've at least been classmates. Although you made some mistakes, if you admit your faults now, apologize to these two students behind me, and promise not to do such things again, I think we can let this issue drop. What do you think?"

Before the others could respond, those few who had been beaten badly by Shiyu Uchiha the previous day angrily spoke up: "Shiyu Uchiha, are you scared now? Yesterday you were so bold—what's wrong today? Could it be you're afraid of our leader? If you are, just get lost! The Uchiha Clan really isn't all that impressive!" They burst into laughter.

Their intense resentment didn't come solely from getting beaten the day before, but also stemmed from being scolded one by one by their fair-weather friends during the morning punishment. Especially because of the notebook incident, Kajin had even slapped each of them a few times.

Due to their low status, they didn't dare to fight back. So the moment they sensed Shiyu had backed down, they suddenly felt emboldened, speaking recklessly without thinking clearly, trying to vent their frustrations on him. However, they forgot exactly what kind of clan—the Uchiha—is.

Shiyu inwardly cursed under his breath, calling them "three idiots," then shot them a cold glance sharper than knives. That chilling stare was a skill he'd picked up over months of sword training—it showed just how deep he'd gone into swordsmanship.

Finally, he spoke: "The Uchiha are Konoha's largest clan and the number one family among ninja clans—you don't have the qualifications to judge us. Words like that can lead to ruin." Instantly, the laughter vanished from their faces as they suppressed it, leaving their expressions looking especially comical.

Seeing this, Shun Mizutani and Taki Tachibana couldn't hold back their laughter any longer. It was a perfect example of the saying: "Laughter may leave one face, but it always finds another."

Sarutobi Kajin then said, "Shiyu Uchiha, showing off your clan's powers means nothing. If you're so tough, beat all of us and we'll naturally obey you. If not, go back where you came from."

Kajin wanted to paint it as just another school fight. Though he didn't know whether teachers had followed them from the academy, he was naturally skilled at hiding his true intentions.

"Have some dignity, Kajin Sarutobi. After all, you come from Hokage-sama's family. You and your gang forced classmates to do your homework—do you actually think you're in the right?

Bullies like you playing innocent? That's not what Hokage-sama taught! Pretending innocence won't help here. Let me tell you straight: the Uchiha Clan never abandons its friends."

Shiyu Uchiha declared firmly. Although Shiyu himself wasn't sure if any teachers were coming, he believed that with so many people involved, how could the academy's instructors not notice? Someone probably followed us. He assumed the teacher had already arrived. Since justice was on their side, every inch of ground must be contested.

"Not a clue what you're talking about regarding homework. All I know is you bullied my friends, and now I'm gonna help them get even." Obviously, Kajin refused to admit fault. He simply denied everything and immediately prepared to attack.
