Explanations of the 44 Reflextions of Ashen

In this timeless world, each chair around the Round Table represents an alternative version of Ashen—but in reality, each chair alone contains a multitude of parallel worlds. These are not forty-four lives, but forty-four main lines, each declined in hundreds of variations where the choices, circumstances, sufferings and reactions of Ashen take different forms. Thus, the "Judge" is not a single man, but a set of Ashen who have become judges in worlds governed by different laws. The "Martyr", sometimes sacrificed by faith, sometimes by love or by mistake, exists under countless faces. Every chair is a tree, and every branch is a "what if..." that has become reality. Even the "Fool's" chair, his own, has as yet unknown alternatives—but Ashen, the real Ashen, is one who has never had control, one who observes all others and for the first time has a chance to choose.
