Quinn froze, his hand still gripping Jack's frost-covered throat. His friends had arrived — Vorden, Layla, Fex, Vicky — but hesitation clung to him like ice.
"He's dangerous," Quinn said, his voice low, trembling with rage. "He took all their abilities… even Erin's. We can't just let him live."
Vorden stepped forward carefully. "If Truedream dies, things will go back to how they were after the war."
Quinn's eyes flicked toward him but said nothing.
"When the war ended," Vorden continued, "Earth was a wreck. Cities gone, oceans risen, animals wiped out. Humanity was barely breathing — and then we found power. Powers that only made us fight more."
Layla's expression darkened as Vorden spoke.
"The three families rose to stop the chaos, but even they fought among themselves. The military tried to bring order, but they were weak. Then Truedream came — gave them a reason to stay united. Without him, the balance falls apart. Civil war… invasion… everything collapses again."
The words hung heavy between them. Quinn's grip loosened slightly, but his glare stayed locked on Jack.
"So you're saying we just let him go?" Quinn's voice cracked. "After what he did?"
Inside Vorden's head, Rayten laughed darkly. The kid's doing the right thing. Who cares if that bastard dies?
Vorden ignored him. He could feel Quinn's anger boiling, and if he didn't act fast, Truedream would be dead in seconds.
However finally, Quinn exhaled sharply and threw Jack to the ground. Ice cracked and shattered beneath the impact.
"Fine," he muttered, "but what next? He knows me. He saw what I can do. If we let him live, he'll send us all to the dungeons."
No one answered. Silence wrapped the room.
Then Layla turned to Fex. "Your ability's mind control, right? Can you… change what he remembers?"
Fex scratched the back of his head. "I can try. He's already half-dead — his mind's weak. But i can't promise."
He stepped toward Truedream, hesitating only for a moment before glancing at the others. "Hold his eyes open for me."
Layla knelt beside him. "Erase everything that happened here."
Fex sighed. "Alright… let's hope this works."
His eyes flared red, and a faint crimson ring appeared in Truedream's pupils. "You will forget everything that happened here," Fex commanded.
To everyone's surprise, Truedream responded instantly — his mind bending to Fex's will.
"Wait," Quinn said. "Make him say none of these students will be sent to the dungeons. They'll all attend classes as usual."
Fex nodded and gave the new command. "Done. Sleep now."
Truedream's head slumped as Fex stepped back. Quinn knelt and placed his hand on Jack's chest, using the healing ability he had recently gotten. Wounds began to close before their eyes.
Vorden blinked. "You can heal now? And ice? What else are you hiding?"
Vicky smirked. "He's full of surprises. But you know she's going to be pissed," she said, nodding toward Erin's unconscious body.
Quinn looked away, uneasy. Her words hit too close — Vicky Blade was supposed to be a future foe, and that thought twisted something inside him.
Soon Fex was told to wipe the memories of the other six students, except Erin, this was done to prevent anyone from suspecting that someone else was behind it. If the students ever revealed how they lost their abilities, their lives would be in danger again — and Quinn didn't want that. So he instructed Fex to carry out the command exactly as he said. he slumped to the floor, mentally drained. "That's… all of them," he panted. "They won't remember a thing."
Just then, a faint metallic voice echoed from nowhere. Everyone froze.
"Quinn, get out — now! Duke and the guards are heading toward the building!"
Quinn recognized it instantly — Logan's spider bot. His stomach dropped. Others were alarmed to find such a thing.
"Dont worrey about that, its with us We have to move!" Quinn shouted.
"You are saying a talking spider is with us"Fex spoke amused.
"What about them?" Layla asked, looking at the unconscious students.
"Since, we have altered Jacks memory that wont be a problem atleast thats what i think," Quin spoke.
"You guys leave i'll pretend to be unconscous for now, so go get out."
"Logan," Quinn called out, "would you help my friend escape."
"Already on it," the spider replied. "You've all got 20 seconds before he guard sreach the corridor.
Soon, saying there byes Fex, Vorden, Vicky, and Layla fled the scene, following Logan's commands.
Logan's voice echoed sharply from the spider bot. "There's a guard heading toward your direction. Take the right corridor — now!"
They followed without question.
"In thirty seconds, they'll block all exits," Logan continued. "Your only escape is through the window to your right. That's the only clear path I can see."
The group exchanged quick, tense looks, trying to think fast.
"I can use my telekinetic power to slow our fall," Layla said. "Vorden, copy my ability. I can carry one more person — I'll take Vicky—"
Before she could finish, Vicky cut in. "Give me your hands."
"What do you mean?" Layla asked, confused.
Vicky just smiled. "Don't worry about me." She touched Layla's arm, and within wasting time Vorden also copied Layla's telekinesis.
"Don't worry about him," Vicky added. "I'll carry him. You jump first."
Fex scoffed. "Hey, I can handle myself!"
Without waiting, he climbed onto the window ledge and leapt. Invisible threads shot out, wrapping around the window frame, slowing his descent until he landed softly on the ground below.
Layla and vorden being dumbfounded followed next, Layla guided her fall with controlled grace. The rest of the group soon landed safely one after another.
After reaching the ground, they regrouped and followed the spider without gettting noticed by, heading straight toward Logan's room.
