A while back—
[Pet Nurturing System is now online!]
[Host: Kurosawa Ren]
[Newbie bonus: Mega Spin x10! Passive Skill: Tenfold Feedback!]
[Host can use the Mega Wheel to draw rewards!]
This all began when Kurosawa Ren had just transmigrated into this world.
Just a few days ago, before the transmigration, he had been stressing about his post-graduation job.
Then suddenly—he was a pet food shop owner.
And the city he landed in? Kuoh Town!
The stage of High School DxD, a world filled with devils, fallen angels, angels, gods, dragons—countless powerful races. To Ren, quietly running a store was fine. But if he ran into some rogue devil, he could end up dead without even realizing it.
Fortunately, not long after his arrival, his golden finger—a cheat-like system—activated.
The Pet Nurturing System. Judging from the name, it seemed to allow him to summon pets from across the multiverse.
He could already imagine Pokémon, Digimon, Diddy, or other magical beasts showing up… Or maybe even monsters from the Ultraman universe.
Ren scanned through the system interface, a slightly odd expression on his face.
"This system only has a spin function? Seriously? Couldn't they at least add a shop?"
He grumbled a bit, then calmly checked out his only passive skill: Tenfold Feedback.
[Tenfold Feedback: Whenever the host draws or bonds with a pet, they gain ten times the pet's peak power. Every time a pet grows stronger, the host receives ten times that growth.]
His eyes lit up—now this was strong!
If he drew a god-tier pet, he'd become god-tier too.
At first, he'd worried about what might happen if he summoned something too powerful…
Now it seemed that wouldn't be a problem at all.
With that, Ren washed his hands and got ready for the ten-draw.
The giant wheel appeared before him, covered with various icons.
In the lower left corner was an annotation:
[All rewards are ranked: White, Blue, Purple, Orange, and Rainbow]
Everything on the wheel was pet-related—no doubt the system focused entirely on enhancing pets.
Ren rolled his eyes and pressed the center button.
The wheel spun furiously, so fast it blurred.
Gradually, the speed slowed, and the pointer landed on a white bag.
[Congratulations! White-grade reward: One bag of ordinary dog food.]
Expressionless, he placed it on the shelf and kept going.
[Congratulations! Blue-grade reward: One bag of premium dog food.]
[Congratulations! Blue-grade reward: One serving of special cat food.]
[Congratulations! Purple-grade reward: Jealousy Sin Crystal.]
[Congratulations! Orange-grade reward: Pet—Cath Palug.]
…
[Congratulations! Purple-grade reward: Pet—Kuroka.]
[Congratulations! Purple-grade reward: One bag of Nekomata Bloodline Crystals.]
In that instant, Ren's eyes lit up. Tenfold Feedback activated.
Though he got a bunch of useless junk, he was satisfied with what truly mattered.
By the way, Fou might not be in peak form, but he still received ten times the strength of the Beast IV's full power.
Ren automatically acquired Fou's ability as well — the power to absorb emotions like comparison, envy, and jealousy from human society, using them to grow stronger…
Gradually, a cute little creature appeared before Ren.
It was entirely snow-white, so pure that not a speck of filth tainted it. It looked like a fox, yet also like a puppy — its species was completely indiscernible, a truly mysterious being.
"Fou…"
A cautious call escaped from the little creature's mouth.
Fou was confused. Wasn't it supposed to be in Chaldea? Why did it suddenly end up here?
After glancing around its surroundings, its gaze landed on Ren.
"Fou…"
For some reason, it sensed a familiar aura from him — a power of the same nature as its own.
Ren chuckled softly. Noticing another figure about to arrive, he casually pulled out a small purple crystal and held it up in front of Fou.
Instantly, Fou's gaze was locked onto the crystal.
Something about it felt overwhelmingly tempting — more intense than the scent of food in human society. Even Fou couldn't resist wanting a taste.
With a leap, Fou pounced onto Ren and snatched the treat from his hand.
"Fou…"
A satisfied, blissful sound came from Fou's mouth.
Seeing this, Ren smiled knowingly, then looked toward the person who had just appeared — Kuroka.
"Where is this place…?"
After scanning the area and sensing no danger, Kuroka turned her gaze toward Ren.
She glanced at the creature in his arms. Finding it non-threatening, she focused on Ren.
A glint of slyness flashed through her eyes. With a seductive air, Kuroka leaned in.
"My, my… handsome boy, is this your shop? Can you tell this big sister why she ended up here?"
Fou glanced at Kuroka with visible disdain.
It could tell immediately — this woman had bad intentions!
"Didn't big sister notice the contract on herself?"
"Contract!?"
Kuroka's expression shifted. She only now realized she had been contracted without noticing — and it felt like a master-servant type of contract!
Uncertainty flickered in her eyes. She silently evaluated the situation.
If this man could contract her without her even realizing it… his power…
But strangely enough, she hadn't felt even a trace of magical energy from him.
Then…
"Kuroka, congrats — you're my pet now! How about giving me a meow to celebrate?"
"Meow your damn—!"
A surge of powerful magic burst from Kuroka. Even if she couldn't win, she had to escape!
But to her horror, her magic was completely crushed without resistance. Like a towering mountain, Ren's presence rendered her immobile.
Ren wore a gentle smile, but there was no warmth in his eyes.
He understood her nature — simply summoning her and binding her with a contract wouldn't be enough to gain her loyalty.
Only by overwhelming her with absolute strength could he make her accept her new reality. Once she understood that this place could make her stronger, she'd submit on her own.
And then—
With a flash of brilliant purple light, Kuroka was transformed into a cat.
Seeing the confused look on her feline face, Ren grinned in satisfaction.
Fou gave her a disapproving glance — look at me, how cooperative I am. Just eat and be obedient.
Looking into her hopeless eyes, Ren spoke.
"Perfect. From today onward, I'll call you Kuro!"
