Chapter 69 - Feeling Depressed

The next few days, Arya refused to leave the room. She even refused to eat, but Alfa didn't let her starve herself. He was able to persuade her to eat.

Arya didn't want to see Alfa, yet he came to check on her every free time he got.

A space in Arya's heart felt hollow. She didn't know what to do or how to feel about it.

Alfa said Bella was dormant inside her. Does that mean she can somehow get to her? After all, she's alive!

A soft knock on the door made Arya groan. She didn't know who it was. She didn't want anyone in her room right now!

The knock got a little louder. Arya groaned again before asking, "Who's there?"

The door opened a little, and in peeked Vivien. "It me, Luna."

"What do you want?" Arya asked, her voice sour.

"I wanted to go shopping. Can we go together, please?" Vivien asked, her eyes wide with expectation.

"I'm not in the mood," Arya replied before rolling over to the other side.

"But luna...-" "I said 'no' Viv. Please leave me alone."

Vivien left without another word. Arya was grateful that she didn't push, like Alfa would have.

Alfa! He made this decision without her knowledge, just because she got strangled by a demon! He didn't even wait to see if Bella really got tainted or not!

"Valac, what the hell did you do?" She asked, knowing there would be no answer.

A knock came on her door again. This time, Arya didn't even ask who was at the door.

"Whoever you are, get lost and leave me alone!" She screamed.

The door creaked open, and Arya threw a pillow at whoever was entering.

"Woah," Marcus said, as he caught the weapon thrown at him.

"Mar? What are you doing here?" Arya asked, straightening up.

"Well, Nats wanted to meet you..."

"So why didn't she come?" Arya asked, her eyes narrowed.

"She's not allowed to leave her room without permission."

"Who's permission?" Arya asked, despite already guessing the answer.

"Your mate. He had warned her that he would kill her if she came near you," Marcus said. By now, he was sitting on a chair by the bed.

"And why would he do that?" Arya asked skeptically.

"It was because of her mate that Braxen has to suffer," came a voice from the door. Both Marcus and Arya jumped. "Because of her childishness, she couldn't understand you, but instead of asking, she ran off to complain," Alfa continued, pays no attention of them nearly having a heart attack.

"If she had heard your side before making irrational decisions, you would still have Bella."

Deep inside, Arya understood his anger, but her human side wanted to know why she wanted to see her, and maybe, learn about how she could get her wolf back.

Maybe Valac knows some way to awaken Bella, and Natalie could be the key to talking with him.

"I know you're angry, but maybe talking to her would make me understand what happened to her and how we can bring back my wolf," Arya said, staring at Alfa.

"That girl is nothing but trouble... the moment they came, everything went downhill. First, rogue attacks, then William, then that demon, now your wolf. I can't stand her. They would have left if the council hadn't intervened."

The fire in his eyes told Arya that he was furious at them! Her family.

"I...I should ... " "Yes, you should! And tell your sister that she'll never be welcome near Arya. Not Ever!" Alfa said, staring at Marcus, who had just started to get up. He had stopped halfway standing and sitting.

"You don't want me to repeat myself. Trust me!" Alfa threatened when he saw the awkward position Marcus was in.

Marcus didn't need to hear anymore. He vanished out the door within seconds.

"You scared him," Arya said, getting close to Alfa. She knew this would calm him down.

"That was my point," Alfa said, in a much calmer voice.

"The big bad wolf scaring a little human. Doesn't sound too good!"

"Well, what can I say... the big bad wolf wants to protect his mate!"

"The big bad wolf should know his mate is already protected."

"Maybe the big bad wolf doesn't want his mate to get hurt again."

Arya looked into his eyes and smiled. "You know, the big bad wolf needs to help his mate get back the thing she lost."

"And how does he do that?" Alfa asked, now intrigued.

"By letting his mate know how she can wake up the little good wolf," Arya replied.

"How?" Alfa asked, clearly understanding where this conversation is leading to.

Arya reached out to touch his cheeks. "Please, let me meet Nats. Valac is the only one who can tell me how to get Bella back, and I need her to talk to Valac."

Alfa let go of Arya and turned around. His breathing was deep, and Arya knew he was finding the right words to deny her.

"You don't understand, Arya. Your wolf, Bella, is tainted. She has been touched by a demon." Alfa turned to face her, his blue eyes staring into her blue ones. "If Bella turns against us, I'll have to kill her; and you along with her. I can't lose you both, so I chose to save you."

Arya sat on the bed, trying to control the tears threatening to roll down her cheeks.

Why didn't he understand her feelings? She can not be a luna if she has no wolf.

She felt hurt and angry. Who the hell did he think he was to make that decision?

"And who gave you the right to make that decision?" Arya asked slowly.

Her voice was so low, had it not been for Alfa's super hearing, he wouldn't have heard it.

"What?" He asked in surprise.

"I said, who gave you the right to make a decision about my wolf?" Arya repeated herself, getting up from the bed.

For the first time in his life, Alfa saw something in her eyes. It wasn't fear. It wasn't hurt. It was something that Alfa couldn't read at all.

It made a chill run down his spine. Something about his mate was screaming danger.

Did he make the right choice by caging Bella inside her own humans body? Or did he just unleash something far worst than a wolf upon himself and his pack?
