Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Flash and the Cold

Chapter 15: The Flash and the Cold

The Arrowcave was quiet, a rare moment of respite from the constant barrage of crime and existential dread. But in Central City, things were, as usual, moving at a much faster pace. Barry Allen was now fully embracing his role as The Flash, and with that came a whole new rogue's gallery. This time, it was Captain Cold, Leonard Snart, who had stolen a priceless diamond. The Flash S01E04: "Going Rogue."

"So, a guy with a cold gun who likes shiny things? Sounds like a super-villain straight out of a Saturday morning cartoon," Adam quipped, video-calling Cisco from Felicity's console. "Does he, like, have a secret lair made of ice? And does he monologue about his evil plans while stroking a white cat?"

Cisco, on the other end, laughed. "Dude, you get it! He's totally got that classic villain vibe! But he's also really dangerous. He just stole the Kahndaq Dynasty Diamond!"

"The Kahndaq Dynasty Diamond, you say?" Adam mused, tapping his chin. "Hmm, that sounds familiar. Wasn't that, like, the MacGuffin in that one Indiana Jones movie? Or was it 'The Mummy'? Either way, priceless diamond, bad guy with a gimmick. Classic."

Oliver, who was within earshot, just sighed dramatically. Diggle shook his head.

"We need to track him, Adam," Felicity interjected, trying to get them back on track. "He's fast, and he's leaving a cold trail."

"Cold trail, you say? Pun intended, Smoak?" Adam grinned. "Alright, Cisco, Caitlin, here's what you need to do. Think about the history of that diamond. Who would want it? Not just for its value, but for its historical significance. And think about the kind of thief who would go after something so... ostentatious."

He subtly activated the System.

[ASK A QUESTION. COST: 25 NON-PLP. CONFIRM?]

"Twenty-five LP for a historical crime tip? That's a bargain! I'm basically a walking, talking, super-powered Wikipedia. And I get paid for it." "Confirm!"

The System provided a rapid-fire stream of information about historical art thieves, their methods, and their preferred hideouts. Adam, acting like he was just piecing it together, began to feed the information to Cisco and Caitlin.

"So, historically, thieves who go after artifacts like that usually have a flair for the dramatic. They'll want to show it off, or use it as leverage. And they often have a connection to old, abandoned places. Think old industrial sites, forgotten museums, or, you know, a giant, abandoned ice cream factory," Adam said, making a mental note of the last one. "And specifically, look for any old, decommissioned train yards. There was a famous diamond heist in the 1950s where the thief used an old train car as a mobile hideout."

Cisco's eyes widened. "A train yard! That's brilliant, Adam! Why didn't I think of that?!"

"Because you're too busy coming up with cool names for villains, my friend. It's a noble pursuit, but sometimes you need to think like a criminal. A very, very old criminal," Adam said, winking.

Later, Team Flash, guided by Adam's "lucky hunch," tracked Captain Cold to an abandoned train yard. The confrontation was a whirlwind of ice blasts and super-speed. Adam, watching from the Arrowcave, provided a running commentary, much to Oliver's exasperation.

"He's got a cold gun! And he's wearing a parka! It's like he's auditioning for a villain role in a Christmas special!" Adam exclaimed. "Barry, dodge left! No, your other left! The one that's not going to get you frozen solid!"

Ultimately, Captain Cold was defeated, and the diamond was recovered.

[MISSION COMPLETE: GOING ROGUE. REWARD: 200 NON-PLP.]

"Two hundred LP for being a remote crime consultant? This is the life. No freezing temperatures, no getting punched in the face, just pure, unadulterated intellectual superiority. And a healthy LP balance."

Cisco, on the video call, was practically bouncing with excitement. "Adam, you're a genius! That train yard clue was spot-on! You saved us so much time!"

"Just doing my part, Cisco. Think of me as your friendly neighborhood, highly sarcastic, and surprisingly well-informed, oracle," Adam said, grinning. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I need to go annoy Oliver. It's been too long."

Oliver, who had been listening to the entire exchange, just shook his head, a faint, almost imperceptible smile playing on his lips. Adam was a chaotic force, a constant source of irritation, but he was also undeniably effective. And sometimes, just sometimes, he made Oliver laugh. Even if he'd never admit it.
