Chapter 29 - Episode 29: The Enemy Within

Leo to their bedroom, he couldn't help but feel grateful for her understanding and care. She helped him undress, her fingers gently removing his tie and unbuttoning his shirt.

Leo slipped into bed, feeling the softness of the sheets and the comfort of the mattress envelop him. Lily snuggled up beside him, her head on his chest.

"Sleep tight, handsome," she whispered, her breath warm against his skin. Leo smiled, feeling his eyelids grow heavy.

"Thanks, babe," he murmured, his voice barely audible. "I love you." Lily's arms tightened around him.

"I love you too, Leo," she replied, her voice filled with affection. As Leo drifted off to sleep, he knew that tomorrow would bring new challenges, but with Lily by his side, he felt ready to face whatever came their way.

The next morning, Leo woke up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Lily was already up, sipping coffee in the living room. He joined her, wrapping his arms around her waist.

"Good morning, beautiful," he said, nuzzling her neck. Lily smiled, turning to face him.

"Good morning, handsome," she replied, her eyes sparkling. "So, tell me, what happened yesterday? You were exhausted when you came home." Leo took a deep breath, launching into the story of his meeting with President Trump and the massive infrastructure project they were proposing.

As Leo shared the details of the project, the rest of the family began to trickle into the living room. Madam Clara, entered with a warm smile, followed by Mirabel, who was busy texting on her phone.

Marco, strolled in next, his eyes fixed on the TV as he searched for the morning news. Mr Antonio, and Elder Moretti, Leo's grandfather, walked in together, their faces etched with a mix of exhaustion and determination.

Their eyes seemed to hold a secret, a story they were eager to share. But for now, they just smiled, their eyes crinkling at the corners. The family exchanged warm greetings, happy to have Antonio and Elder Moretti back home.

As they settled in, Leo continued to share his exciting news about the project. Clara's eyes widened with pride as Leo spoke about the project's potential impact on the country. Mirabel's eyes sparkled with excitement, and Marco nodded thoughtfully, impressed by the scope of the project.

But just as the room was about to erupt into a flurry of questions and congratulations, Antonio's expression turned serious. "We need to talk," he said, his voice low and mysterious.

The room fell silent, the family's eyes fixed on Antonio. What did he want to talk about? And why did he look so serious? The air was thick with anticipation, the family's hearts pounding with excitement and curiosity.

And then, just as Antonio was about to speak, the doorbell rang...

The doorbell rang, shrill and insistent, breaking the spell that had fallen over the room. Clara got up to answer it, her expression curious.

"Who could that be?" Mirabel wondered aloud, her eyes sparkling with interest.

Leo shrugged, his mind still on the project and Antonio's mysterious announcement.

As Clara opened the door, a tall, imposing figure loomed in the entrance. His eyes scanned the room, his gaze lingering on each face before moving on.

"Can I help you?" Clara asked, her voice polite but wary.

The stranger smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I'm looking for Leo," he said, his voice deep and resonant.

Leo's heart skipped a beat as he stood up, his eyes locked on the stranger. "I'm Leo," he said, his voice firm.

The stranger's eyes narrowed, his gaze intense. "We need to talk," he said, his voice low and urgent.

And with that, the stranger stepped forward, his eyes fixed on Leo, and the room fell silent once again...

The stranger's eyes seemed to bore into Leo's soul, as if searching for something. But to Leo's surprise, the stranger's expression softened, and he nodded in approval.

"I've heard a lot about you, Leo," the stranger said, his voice filled with respect. "I've been watching you from afar, and I must say, I'm impressed."

Leo's instincts told him that this stranger was different from the others who had come before him. There was something about him that seemed... genuine.

"Who are you?" Leo asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.

The stranger smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "My name is Alessandro," he said. "And I'm here to offer my services to you and your organization."

Leo's eyes locked onto Alessandro's, and he nodded subtly. "Let's discuss this further in my study," he said, his voice low and discreet.

Alessandro nodded, understanding the need for discretion. "Of course, Leo," he said, his voice equally low.

Without drawing attention to themselves, Leo and Alessandro excused themselves from the living room, leaving Lily, Clara, Mirabel, and the others chatting and laughing together.

As they walked to the study, Leo couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. He had a feeling that Alessandro's skills and expertise could be a game-changer for his organization.

Once they were safely inside the study, Leo closed the door behind them and turned to Alessandro

"I'm listening," Leo said, his voice neutral.

Alessandro nodded, his expression serious. "I have skills that would be beneficial to your organization," he said. "Skills that could help you expand your operations and increase your influence."

Leo raised an eyebrow, intrigued. What kind of skills could Alessandro possibly have?

"I'm a former CIA operative," Alessandro said, his voice low and confident. "I have expertise in surveillance, infiltration, and strategic planning."

Leo's eyes widened, impressed. This was exactly the kind of skillset he needed to take his organization to the next level.

"Why do you want to join me?" Leo asked, his voice skeptical.

Alessandro smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Let's just say that I'm tired of working for the government, but i couldn't flow anymore cos they hold secrets that are untold..." he said. "so now I want to use my skills for something more... lucrative."

Leo nodded, a plan forming in his mind. He could use someone like Alessandro, someone with his skills and expertise.

"Welcome to the team, Alessandro," Leo said, his voice firm.

Alessandro smiled, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "Thank you, Leo," he said. "I won't let you down."

And with that, Alessandro joined Leo's organization, bringing his skills and expertise to the table. Together, they would take on the challenges ahead, and build an empire that would last for generations

As Leo and Alessandro finished their discussion in the study, Leo walked Alessandro out, and then returned to the living room. Antonio was waiting for him, his expression still serious.

"Dad, what was it you wanted to tell me?" Leo asked, his curiosity renewed.

Antonio hesitated, glancing around the room to ensure they were alone. "It's about Chloe's case," he said, his voice low. "We've received some new information that could change everything."

Leo's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with possibilities. What could this new information be? And how would it impact their plans?

"Tell me," Leo said, his voice firm, his eyes locked onto Antonio's.

Antonio leaned in, his voice barely above a whisper. "We've received intel that one of the maids may be working with Chloe," he said, his eyes locked onto Leo's.

Leo's expression darkened, his mind racing with the implications. "Which one?" he demanded, his voice low and deadly.

Antonio hesitated, glancing around the room nervously. "We're not entirely sure yet," he admitted. "But we have reason to believe it's someone who has been with us for a while."

Leo's eyes narrowed, his grip on the armrest tightening. He thought about the maids who had been with them for years... Maria, Olivia, Emma and others... But which one could it be?
