Chapter 17 - Episode 17: Desperate Escape

Lily's world went dark, and she felt herself falling. But before she hit the ground, a pair of strong arms caught her, holding her close.

As she came to, she saw Leo's worried face above hers. "Lily, my love, are you okay?" he asked, his voice trembling with fear.

Lily nodded, still trying to process what had happened. "I...I think so," she stammered.

Leo's face turned grim. "I'll get you out of here," he said, scooping her up in his arms. "We'll go somewhere safe."

As Leo carried her out of the room, Lily saw the figure from the doorway lying on the ground, unconscious. She gasped, her heart racing with fear.

"Who was that?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Leo's jaw clenched, his eyes blazing with anger. "I don't know," he said. "But I'll find out."

As they made their way through the house, Lily saw the Moretti family members gathered in the living room, their faces grim and worried.

"What's going on?" Lily asked, her voice trembling with fear.

Antonio's face turned somber. "We've been breached," he said. "Someone has been sneaking into the house, trying to get to you."

Lily's eyes widened in horror. "Who?" she demanded.

Marco's eyes narrowed, his gaze fixed intently on Lily. "We don't know yet," he said. "But we'll find out."

Elder Moretti's face turned stern. "Leo, you need to take Lily somewhere safe," he said. "Now."

Leo nodded, his eyes locked on Lily's. "I'll take care of her, Nonno," he said. "Don't worry."

As Leo carried her out of the house, Lily felt a sense of relief wash over her. She knew that Leo would do everything in his power to keep her safe.

But as they drove away from the house, Lily couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being watched. She looked around, but saw nothing.

"Leo, I think we're being followed," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Leo's eyes narrowed, his gaze fixed intently on the rearview mirror. "I know," he said. "I've been watching them."

Lily's heart skipped a beat as she saw a black SUV following them. "What are we going to do?" she asked, her voice trembling with fear.

Leo's face turned grim. "Don't worry, my love," he said. "I'll take care of it."

As they drove through the winding roads, Lily felt a sense of unease wash over her. She knew that they were in grave danger, and she didn't know if they would make it out alive.

But with Leo by her side, she felt a sense of hope. She knew that he would do everything in his power to keep her safe.

As they drove through the night, Lily couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead. Would they make it out alive, or would they fall prey to the dangers that lurked in the shadows?

Just as they were about to escape, Chloe and her men surrounded their car, trapping them.

Chloe's face appeared at the window, her eyes blazing with hatred. "You'll never escape me," she spat.

Leo's eyes locked onto Chloe's, his gaze piercing and intense. "You're not going to hurt her," he growled.

Chloe's smile faltered, and she took a step back, the gun still trembling in her hand. "We'll see about that," she spat.

As Chloe's men closed in, Leo knew they had to act fast. He pushed Lily to the floor, shielding her with his body.

But before he could make another move, Chloe's men opened fire. Leo felt a searing pain in his back as he was hit by a bullet.

Lily's heart skipped a beat as she saw the blood spreading across Leo's back. "No!" she screamed, her voice echoing through the night.

Leo's legs buckled, and he fell to the ground, his body limp. Lily dropped to her knees beside him, her hands shaking as she tried to stop the bleeding.

Just as all hope seemed lost, a team of military officers burst into the scene, surrounding Chloe and her security team.

Elder Moretti emerged from the shadows, his face grim. "Chloe, you fool, you dare hurt my grandson, I hope you enjoy your time in jail" he said and signalled his soldiers to arrest her.

Chloe's face contorted with rage as the officers closed in on her. "You'll regret ever arresting me old fool, when i com out I'll make sure your old body face severe torture!" she spat, before being dragged away, kicking and screaming.

Lily's eyes were fixed on Leo's face, her heart racing with fear. "Leo, please don't leave me," she whispered, her world went dark as she screamed, her heart shattered into a million pieces.

Lily's eyes were fixed on Leo's face, her heart racing with fear. "Leo, please don't leave me," she whispered, her voice trembling.

Leo's eyes flickered open, and he looked up at Lily, his gaze weak but determined. "I'm...sorry," he whispered, before his eyes closed again. She cried out louder

As the military officers took Chloe away, Elder Moretti rushed to Lily's side. "Lily dear, we need to get Leo to a hospital, OK," he said, his voice filled with concern.

Lily nodded, still in shock "OK grandpa". She watched as the officers carefully lifted Leo into an ambulance.

As they sped away from the scene, Lily felt a sense of desperation wash over her. She couldn't lose Leo, not now, not ever.

She reached out and took Leo's hand, holding it tight. "Please don't leave me, Leo," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

The ambulance screeched to a halt outside the hospital, and the paramedics rushed Leo into the emergency room.

Lily followed close behind, her heart racing with fear. She watched as the doctors and nurses rushed to Leo's side, their faces grim and determined.

"What's going on?" Lily demanded, her voice shaking with fear. "Is he going to be okay?"

One of the doctors turned to her, his face somber. "We're doing everything we can," he said. "But he's lost a lot of blood. We need to get him into surgery, now."

Lily nodded, her heart heavy with fear. "I want to be with him," she said, her voice firm. "I want to go into the operating room with him."

The doctor shook his head. "I'm sorry, Miss Lily. That's not possible. You need to wait outside."

Lily's face fell, but she knew she had to be strong. She nodded, and the doctor led her to the waiting room.

As she sat down, Lily felt a sense of desperation wash over her. She couldn't bear the thought of being apart from Leo, not even for a moment.

She stood up and paced back and forth across the waiting room, her heart racing with fear. She couldn't lose Leo, not now, not ever.
