Chapter 5: I play Pinochle with a Horse.
"Starting off with a weird one, ain't we?" Gareth whispered to Finn.
"I don't know.. feels just like another Tuesday. Remember that Poker Night with Ganesha."
"Ugh, please don't remind me." Riviera groaned. "I'm still finding glitter around the Manor."
I had weird dreams full of barnyard animals. Most of them wanted to kill me.
"Oh yeah, I forgot that the kid passed out," Hermes said.
"Heh, wuss."
"Bete"
"Strange dreams." Syr tilted her head.
"Really, I'm surprised that they aren't worse." Leaning back, Mama Mia remembered her first few nightmares after Dungeon diving for the first time. It wasn't pretty.
They also wanted food. Drifting back and in to consciousness, Percy really had a moment of clarity. But he did remember something. A nice bed, warm sun, and a pretty girl with curly blonde hair hovered over him, smirking as she scraped drips of what he assumed to be pudding off of his chin.
"That's the girl from the last chapter, right?" May asked.
"Yeah, the one with Brunner." Luniore nodded her head.
Syr frowned as she thought of Brunner.
"I still can't believe that he's there. I mean, if he thought Percy was in trouble, shouldn't he have taken him to the camp himself? Or at the very least followed Percy himself."
"Nya, yeah, he was already there. Why half-ass it?" Chloe wondered
"I want to believe that there was something that he desperately had to do. That's the only reason I can think that'd warrant his actions." Luniore muttered as she tapped her fingers
"Those eyes of hers." Hermes focused on Annabeth, certain that something about her was familiar.
"Huh? You say something Hermes-sama." Asfi looked over with a raised eyebrow.
"Ha, no it's nothing. Just thought that her eyes looked familiar."
Laughing it off, Hermes decided to drop it for now. Leaning back into his chair, Hermes instead chose to enjoy this unique experience for what it was, a break.
If The Watcher was telling the truth, then answers would come later, no need for him to go searching for any, and if it wasn't, then well…
Looking over at the gathered Gods, Hermes smirked. Others would find out for him. For now, he thought, let's just enjoy this.
"...I wonder what he's eating."
"Welf-sama, are you still hungry?" Looking behind her Lili sounded shocked, and a little annoyed, that Welf-sama was still thinking about food when they had just ate not only an hour ago.
"Hey! For your information, thanks to a little munchkin chasing me around like I owed her lunch money, I wasn't able to finish eating." Welf sarcastically replied.
"Well, if Welf-sama would stop calling Lili Lil', then maybe he wouldn't be so hungry now would he?"
"Lil'Lili." Welf whispered behind his hand.
"What was that?"
Loki rolled her eyes. Tired of hearing all the chatter around her she continued reading.
When she saw that he was awake, she hurriedly asked him about a Summer susltice. When he didn't answer, she checked to hear if anyone was listening. 'What's going on? What was stolen? We've only got a few weeks!' 'I don't…' there was a knock and before he could say anything else the girl was shoving pudding down his throat again.
"Well, that's one way to shut you boys, up." Tsubaki muttered. Seriously, the amount of guys, even in her own Familia, that just didn't know how to just shut up astounded her.
Even when she was working and can't even hear their incessant voices over her hammering do they stop talking.
"Hey!" Some of the guys scream.
"...Honestly, I wouldn't mind it."
Everyone froze. Turning in their seats, everyone looked towards Gareth in disbelief. Gareth, stroking his beard in thought, realized what he said and quickly corrected himself.
"As long as it was food I liked of course." He said, waving his arms in the air.
"Ok…Uh, any way what was that girl, Annabeth, talking about?" Yamato asked.
"From the tone of her voice, I'm guessing this SummerSolstice was when the Thunderbolt was stolen." Ryuu figured.
"What's a Solstice?" Bell asked.
"The Solsitce, in layman's terms, are the two longest and shortest days of the year," Hestia explained to him. "The Summer Solstice is also particularly important to Fire spirits as that day they are at their strongest. It's a very important day for anything related to fire, really."
When percy opened his eyes again Annabeth was gone and in her place was a scary looking man with hundreds of eyes all over his body, watching him.
"Who the hell is that!" Bete jumped over his seat, the sight of so many eyes making his fur stand on end.
"Monster!" Ais screamed as she jumped towards the wall, sword drawn.
Thankfully, her Familia stopped her before she could get to far.
"AIS! Ais, calm down!" Finn and Gareth grabbed one arm while Tiona and Tione grabbed the other.
But she wasn't stopping. One foot in front of the other she was inching her way closer to the image on the wall.
"Must...destroy..monster."Ais struggled to say bef-.
~Bonk~
Before she was hit on the back of the head by Riveria's staff.
"Sit down, you crazy girl, it's not even in the same room as us." Riviera sighed.
Massaging her forehead, she tried to stave off the coming headache as she watched them drag her idiot student back to her seat, her eyes rolling in her head like swirls.
"Gods, is this gonna happen every time?" She wondered.
"I don't- I mean, is that even a monster?" Lefiya really didn't know what it was. It…well, there wasn't a nice way to say it, it didn't look nice, but it wasn't monstrous.
But… at the same time, it felt sorta like a monster.
"...Do you think he gets dizzy with all those eyes?" Gareth asked
"Dizz? I'd be afraid I'd accidentally bump into something and poke my eye out."
When I finally came to, my surroundings were unfamiliar but pleasant—sitting in a deck chair on a large porch, gazing at green hills across a meadow. The breeze smelled like strawberries, with a blanket over my legs and a pillow behind my neck. Next to me was a tall glass of iced apple juice. My hand was so weak I almost dropped it. 'Careful,' a familiar voice said.
"Whoa!"
"It's beautiful."
"It's like Demeter's farms." Hestia sighed, remembering the hills of golden wheat that her friend Deme was so proud of.
The image on the screen was beautiful. Like the picture-perfect image of nature. Then they saw Percy.
"Holy shit, does that kid look rough," May muttered.
"Actually, he looks better than I thought he would." Mama Mia noted.
"What do you mean, Mama?" Syr asked.
"Well..During his fight with the Minatour, I noticed that he not only broke one of his arms, but I'm also sure I heard some of his ribs cracking when he was-"
"Riding that bull like a pro, Nya?" Anya cheerfully added.
"..In a not so crass way…Yes." Mama Mia gritted her teeth. Sometimes those Cats were more trouble than they were worth.
"He also would have had a concussion or two afterwards. No way he was walking away after all that bucking without one." Luniore said.
"Yes, which brings me back to my point that unless they were giving him Dian's top potions or a strong healing spell, then it should have taken him at least a month to recover with even the most basic of healing potions."
"Do you think he's been there that long?" May asked. A month was a long time, but since they couldn't tell how much time had passed, Percy could have been out for that long.
"No, going by how he looks, I'd say that it's been at least a day or two. Potions can't feed you after all, if he'd been out that long, he'd be all skin and bones." Mama Mia shook her head. That's what was so strange. She knows not a lot of time has passed, but he looks like he just went through a light bit of sparring with her.
"Wow."
"How have they been healing him then?" Syr asked, a strange gleam in her eyes.
"I don't know." Mama Mia said.
Grover was leaning against the porch railing, looking like he hadn't slept in a week. Under one arm, he cradled a shoe box. Just plain old Grover.
"Well, look who it is." Bete growled, "The disappointment makes his grand appearance."
"Hey, isn't that a bit harsh. He tried his best." Lefiya tried to come to Grover's defense but Bete wasn't having it.
"If that was his best, then he should have never been a Protector in the first place. I mean, honestly, that donkey couldn't even keep an eye on a twelve-year-old, much less protect him. The kid did more protecting than his Protector ever could."
Finn sighed.
"While I don't agree with everything Bete is saying, I don't think Grover is a Protector. He's more of a scout than anything."
"He doesn't even have a weapon." Hephestaus agreed.
"W-Well, I t-think that Grover was a great protector." Haruhime said..
"Why's that Haruhime?" Yamato asked.
"Ah! W-Well, I-it's just…Grover was scared, terrified even. But he still looked for Percy, even when he was abandoned. With no way to find him, he still went through the storm, warned them, and got them close enough to the camp."
Bete scoffed.
"Yeah, then faints at the finish line and causes the boy and the mother to protect him instead. Bravery doesn't mean anything if you can't back it up. Then it's just pathetic. Weakling should just stay in their lane."
Not the goat boy.
"Hehehe, Goat boy."
"Hermes-sama"
Maybe it was all a dream, mom was ok and they were still on a vacation and… 'You saved my life,' Grover said. 'I… well, the least I could do… I went back to the hill. I thought you might want this.' Reverently, he placed the shoe box in my lap.
"He wanted it to have been a dream so bad." Welf sighed. He knew the feeling.
When Phobos had been sent back to Tenkai for helping him escape Rakai he had wanted everything to have been a dream.
He had wanted to had the gift to forge magical swords, had wanted to have just been the good boy and make Ares' tools of war, to never have tried to leave that blasted place. Anyhting to bring her back. But there wasn't anything he could do.
"Oh, that poor boy." Lefyia felt tears gather in her eyes.
"Don't do that." Bete snapped at her.
"What?" She asked.
"Don't patronize him, the kid's wea,k but he's not weak enough to need your tears."
"Bete, he just lost his mother." She tried to say, surly that warranted soem kind of emotional response.
"And he also beat a Miantour, that means he's strong enough to get back up."
"He shouldn't have to be."
"No, but now he has to be."
Inside was a black-and-white bull's horn, the base jagged from being broken off, the tip splattered with dried blood. 'The Minotaur,' I said. 'Um, Percy, it isn't a good idea –' 'That's what they call it in the Greek myths, isn't it?' I demanded. 'The Minotaur. Half man, half bull.'
"Huh?"
"What is it, Welf?" Bell asked.
"Hm? Oh, it's nothing. Just thought that it's weird that they still have drop items, but not Monster stones."
"Oh yeah, minotaur horns are drop items." Hestia remembers Hephy telling her something like that before but she had forgotten.
"That's right, in fact, Bell's old knife was made from a minatour horn." Welf scrached his chin remembering the first weapon he had forged for who would later become his best friend. "Though I guess cause it was an enhanced species, the horn looks a little different. Normaly, the horns are darker, mainly cause they have so much dungeon wall material in them, but this one-"
"It's white." Bell noted.
"Yeah, wonder if it has different properties then."
"I'm more interested in how Percy described it." Finn said.
"You mean how it's also from these Greek Myths like Zeus and Kronos were." Riviera pointed out.
"Yeah. From the phrasing, it sounds like the word Greek pertains to where the Myths originated, which could either be a group of people or a country."
"But that also implies that there are other kinds of Mythologies as well then." Gareth realized.
"If I may, in the Library when Ouranos-sama and I were researching the subject of the Gods, before we were halted by the Watcher, there were a couple of books on something called the panteions. We took that to mean that their Gods were more or less grouped between countries, such as the Greek or Indian Pantheons." Fels said.
"But what's the point? Why divide them up like that? I mean, they're Gods. We're not divided like that." Loki asked.
"...Aren't you." Ottar raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, you got something to say, Bull?"
"Yes, in fact, I do." Standing up Ottar looked at the Gods. "As far as I see it, you Gods are divided, maybe not in Tenkai, but down here, on Genkai, definitely. Especially when it pertains to the countries that you've decided to settle down in."
"What are you trying to say, Ottar?" Freya placed a hand on Ottars arm.
"I'm saying that if a Panteon is a gathering of Gods within a coutnry then the biggest examples would be Rakai and Oraio."
"What does Rakai have to do with this?" Hermes asked.
"Because a god resides in that country." Finn was starting to see it himself. It seemed like such a simple connection but to them it wasn't.
Mainly because they never thought about their Gods in that way.
"Exactly, if we really think about it, then the Familias in Oriao could also be called the Oraio Panteon and the ones in Rakia would be the Rakia Panteon."
"So then what, Panteons are just alliances between Gods residing in the country then?" Hephaestus asked.
"We're probably missing a few things, such as why they choose those countries and why only minatours are considered Greek, but I think that theory is pretty close."
"Heh, if that's true, then I wonder who'd be stupid enough to ally with Zeus. That bastard can barely keep it in his pants, much less run an alliance. And you can bet with his pride he wouldn't accept anything less than being top dog of whatever group he was a part of." Loki chuckled.
Zeus wouldn't even accept being second place in Orario evne though he technically worked under Ouranos.
"We can probably count on Hera being with him. Even though she hated being around him, they were always right next to each other." Hermes said.
"Yeah, I don't see that crazy bitch being anywhere else." Freya giggled.
"What panteon do you think you'd be a part of Hestia-sama?" Bell asked.
"Don't know, just as long as it's not with any of those perverted bastrads from Heaven, I think I'd be fine anywhere."
"Ha! Good luck getting anyone to accept your lazy ass in their group. You'd be better off working as someone's mascot." Loki snorted.
"Hmph! I'd kill at being a mascot, because unlike you, I actually have a body. You'd make better work replacing their countertops with your flat tits."
"EEHHH! Speak up shorty, I can't hear you from down there!"
"Bitch! Your just as tall as me!"
"OH YEAH!!WEL-"
"OK! That's enough of that. Hestia sit back down, Loki, finish reading, please."
Grover shifted uncomfortably. 'You've been out for two days. How much do you remember?' 'My mom. Is she really…' He looked down. The whole world should be black and cold. Nothing should look beautiful.
"Why?" Haruhime cried
Hestia wiped some tears from her eyes."She deserves to be there with him."
Ouranos sighed sadly when Percy looked over the hill in anger.
"That boy had better be careful, powerful men have fallen for thinking less. I'd hate to see someone with his talent falling down he wrong path."
Finn looked down. He knew exactly what the kid meant. He's felt that multiple times in his life.
You know you'd think that after a while you'd get used to seeing all the death and loss from the Dungeon, but to him, everyone always feels like the first.
He knows that he shouldn't feel that way. Every single one of them knew what they were getting into when they went down into that pit. And maybe some of them believed that death would never touch them, but either way, they still chose to go down there, and getting angry about it just cheapens their sacrifice.
But, looking at everyone in the room, he knew that they felt the same way. Well, at the very least the adventures did. While he wouldn't say it to their face,s sometimes it was a mystery to know how much their short lives affected the Gods.
'I'm sorry,' Grover sniffled. 'I'm a failure. I'm – I'm the worst satyr in the world.' He moaned, stomping his foot so hard it came off. I mean, the Converse hi-top came off. The inside was filled with Styrofoam, except for a hoof-shaped hole.
"You're damn right you're a failure."
"Bete, we get i,t ok. You don't need to keep repeating yourself." Riviera signed. THis idiot, jsut like Ais and her monsters.
"Yeah, it's not like goat boy over there can hear you anyway." Tione joked.
"Eh, just let him get it out of his system. I've seen a couple of guys up in heaven do the same thing when they watch you mortals. I think it's therapeutic or some lame shit like that." Loki shrugged her shoulders.
Honestly the amount of Gods stupidly shouting down from Tenkai because of something a mortal did was surprisingly high. It was a wonder any of them decided to stay up there instead of coming down and thrashing some of the mortals that they watched.
"...I didn't know gods had therapy." Gareth whisperd to Finn.
'Oh, Styx!'
"Holy shit!"
"Who the hell taught a kid to swear using that word?"
"Dear heavens, I hope she didn't hear that."
"Are you kidding me based on that thunder? I'm fairly sure that she heard that."
Bell watched in shock as the Gods went…well..Crazy. Shouting and screaming at each other. Loki covered her mouth with her hands looking at the ceiling with wide eyes as if in disbelief at waht she just read out loud.
Hermes was hiding behind his chair while Freya jerkily sipped her wine with unsteady hands. Hestia and Hephaestus were the better off but even they looked like they were about to start biting their nails off.
Even Ouranos seemed to be sweating in his chair.
Bell looked over at Lili but she just shrugged her shoulders. Clearing her thought Lili placed her hand on Hestia's shoulder.
"Uh? Hestai -sama, who are you guys talking about? What's wrong with saying Sty-."
"AHH STOP!"
"DON'T SAY IT!"
"SOME ONE CLOSE HER MOUTH!!"
"EHHH! WHAT'S WRONG!" Lili screamed in fright as she was swarmed by the Gods, all of them trying to stop her form talking.
Hestia grabbing Lili by the shoulders turned her around so that she could look her directly in her eyes."Listen Lili, never, ever say that name."
"That is the name of a Goddess that governs over Oaths and Hate. In fact, she is one of the very few who is able to bind a God with her Oaths."
"It's why her name is kind of Taboo to say." Hermes whispered
"Yeah, that crazy bitch, instead of using a place or a heavenly object to swear to, uses her own Name as her Oath holder." Loki's head was on a swivel, as if afraid some kind of ghos twas about to spring up behinder her.
"W-What does that mean?" Lili asked. All this talk about Gods and oath holders was confusing her. She didn't get why they shoudln't say that name.
"Mabye you can explain it better Loki-sama." Finn walked over and placed a calming hand on Loki's back.
The Gods, looking at the rest of their Familias, noticed taht all fo them were sitting forward courious to hear what they had to say. Looking at each other they nodded in acceptance.
If this book was gonna force them then they might as well inform them of the danger that can coem from carelesly using that name.
"Well, to put it simply, most Gods of Oaths and Promises use tools or buildings as their Oath holders. You know things like 'I swear on this sword' or 'this book'. Mainly because most of the time those objects represent their divine authority, but it also offloads most of the weight and any backlash that may come." Hephasestus crossed her arms over her chest.
"Backlash?" Welf asked.
"What? You don't think that breaking your Oaths meant nothing, do you." Loki rolled her eyes "Gods of Oaths have the unique position of being the arbiter of your oaths. Acting as the mediator to make sure that everyone keeps their word. IT'S what lets them use a tiny amount of fate to punish any oath breaker. But-"
"But they also are putting their very essence on the line when they do so." Hermes continued. "Not even Gods can mess with fate, even if they're given permission. Using tools as their intermediary between them and fate, the Gods of Oaths can protect themselves from any backlash caused by touching fate."
"Yeah, but it lessens the amount of fate that they can use. That's why that crazy bitch is so dangerous. She uses her own name as her Oathholder. Her own Godly Name, her very essence, made into a bridge between her and fate. Do you know how much Fate a Godly name can carry?" Loki asked.
"With that much Fate, she can even punish High Gods that swore under her name. Much less, you tiny humans. That much Fate could kill a lesser God just by touching it and yet she slugs it around like it's a freakin bat."
"...One time, a group of Gods came together with the intention of killing her. They didn't like the idea that a fellow God was punishing them like mortals for breaking their oaths. So, they thought, as a fitting punishment meant they'd let Fate kill her." Freya's had to put her wine down now. She could still remember the day everything happened.
"Their plan was to have over a hundred Gods swear under her name and then break their oaths at the same time, forcing her under divine law to punish everyone."
"It's the most stupid, selfish, foolish, dickhead plan ever thought up. The amount of Fate that she was forced to grab should have vaporized half of Heaven, taking her and thousands of Gods with her. But it didn't."
Loki remebred it too, the pillar of light that shot out, probably the single most frightening thing that she ahd ever witnessed in her immortal life. That abount of Fate all convincing in one spot….
"I bet you they never thought in all of their millions of existing that she would show up at their little hideout. They must have been scared before they died. I barely saw her walking there, and I nearly wet myself just by looking at her. Ichor pouring out of every pore, one eye missing and a deranged smile on her face, dragging a leg behind her as she went to them."
Hestia made sure to look at every mortal in the room. "Never swear under their name, not even if you can guarantee that you can keep your oath. Cause if you can't…"
"She always gets you. No matter what."
As Grover put his shoe back on Percy let it settle that everythignw as real. Grover was part donkey, his mom was gone and he was alone. An orphan. He would have to live with… Smelly Gabe?
"Fuck I forgot about that guy." Honestly after everything thats happened Welf would be surprised if anyone had thought about him.
"He…he doesn't really have to go back to him…right?" Haruhime asked.
"I don't know." Yamato bit her lip.
"We don't know their laws. Here, a child is grown enough when they're 13, but over there it seems that they wait for them to be much older." Ryuu said.
"...If Gabe is his only legal guardian, then by their laws he may have to."
No. That would never happen. I would live on the streets first. I would pretend I was seventeen and join the army. I'd do something.
"Hell Yeah! See, there is a way." Tiona cheered.
"I really don't think a child joining the military is something that you should be cheering for." Tione sighed.
"It's really not." Welf deadpanned.
"At least we know how old someone has to be to be considered an adult in their world." Syr said.
"Yeah, 17, which in my opinion is way too late. What's the point in wasting five more years?" Mama Mia shook her head. Let the kdis work she says.
Grover was still sniffling. Percy tried to cheer him up but he was too weak. Grover said 'Here.' He helped me hold my glass and put the straw to my lips. I recoiled at the taste, because I was expecting apple juice. But it wasn't that, but cookies, his moms cookies. Percy drank the whole thing and felt brand new.
"What was that?" Finn wondered.
"It was a potion…I think." Riviera muttered, though it certainly doens't look like one that she knows of. And for that matter, who puts a potion in a drinking cup?
"I've never seen any potion that color or work that fast. Did you see how fast it healed him, I think it even added a few pounds to him. That was more like a high-tier healing spell than anything else." Gareth said.
"I've also never heard of a potion tasting like that before. All the ones I've had tasted like crap." Tiona scowled. Just remembering some of those cheap potions put a bad taste in her mouth.
"Do you think it was an elixir?" Riviera asked.
"Maybe, but that seems needlessly excessive for a boy that was already healing fast by my calculations." Finn said.
"Heh, for all we know, elixirs could be like candy to them."
"D-Did anyone else notice that Grover called himself a Keeper?" Lefiya felt that she had to bring it up. To her it felt like an important distinction.
"Yeah, not a protector." Tione nodded.
"That's a good point. I assumed he was a protector as that was what he called himself on the Bus to New York, but if he's something called a Keeper, then that might change somethings." Riviera nodded her head.
"Like what." Bete scowled. What difference does it make what the failure calls himself. He's still a failure.
"Well, it might explain why Grover was so skittish. And he doesn't seem to carry a weapon. I don't think he was ever meant to protect anyone. I think he was meant to find and guide certain people to this camp."
Percy was still sad but now if felt liek everything was going to be alright. Grover took the cup from him noting that he probrally shoudn't have any more.
"What? What's wrong with drinking more?" Syr asked.
"Well, if it's a potio,n then drinking more usually lessens its effect and can, sometimes, poison you depending on the ingredients. And seeing how powerful that potion was, I'm guessing that they're using some pretty powerful ingredients. Some of which could kill if you ingest too much of it." Mama Mia said.
Behind everyone, Hestia went a little teary-eyed watching the scenes of Percy's memoirs. The memories of his mother and the cookies they shared were some of the purest acts of family that she had ever seen. And just knowing that such a kind and pure family was broken up…well, it didn't make her feel good.
Grover lead Percy off the porch and around the barn. He tried helping him by taking th shoe box but Percy held on. He one it so he was going to carry it. Around the porch Percy realized that down the hill was a whole camp of people. All wearing orange half-blood shirts and jeans. The greek building stood out with the flying horses.
"Whoa look at that place." Lili gasped
"The architect is like nothing I've ever seen before." Asfi noted but Hermes shook his head.
"It kind of reminds me of where Athena is staying."
"Look at that! They got a Lava wall! I wanna play on it."
"Tiona, you have enough playing with the Dragons on level 58. I don't need you playing with lava."
"Playing?" Bell whispered. Who the thinks benign around lava is playing
"Look at those horses, I wonder what kind of animal they are." Riviera asked.
"They look so beautiful."Lefiya said.
"Ottar, do you think such horse exists back on Genkai?" Freya looked back at her faithful guard.
"If you would like I can search for you and bring you back a herd for yourself."
"Hmm, maybe later."
Down at the end of the porch, two men sat across from each other at a card table. The blonde-haired girl who'd spoon-fed me was on the railing next to them. The man facing me was small, but porky. He had a red nose, big watery eyes, and curly hair so black it was almost purple. He looked like those paintings of baby angels – what do you call them, hubbubs? No, cherubs. That's it.
"Hahaha a cherub hahaha."
"Tiona, stop laughing, can't you feel that?" Tione harshly grabbed her sister whispering into her ear.
"Feel what?" She asked tilting her head in confusion.
"His presence, it feels like-"
"A God." Loki narrowed her eyes at the screen
"W-Who is it." Lefiya fearfully asked. From what everyone had been saying before this wasn't a God that was held back by the same laws theirs were. This one had its full power at its disposal.
"I don't kno,w but it looks like he's drunk." Finn noted.
"Ugh, another God of wine." Riviera scoffed. She had enough to deal with Loki she didn't need another drunkard around.
Freya gulped. She knew that Ouranos felt something was off as well. They were the only ones that did back when they watched Percy's memoires but now this wasn't a memory, an actuall God was right infront of them.
Somehting was wrong. A Gods sousl shouldn't be like that. Freya grasped her glass of wine. It…it was Golden.
She's never seen anything like it before. Most souls have color, some carry characteristics, but none of them were Gold, or had that shine to them.
Freya looked over at Ouranos. He too didn't know what he was looking at. Unlike her though he couldn't see what was different, he didn't have her eyes after all. He could only feel liek something was different.
Freya put down her glass. She knew though. That soul had been bathing in something. For hundreds, maybe thousands of years it had been bathed and transformed into what it was know.
And she didn't know what.
He looked like one of the regulars at his step-fathers poker night, and not the nights were everything is going good for everyone. Grover leaned over to Percy 'Thats Mr. D, and the girl is Annabeth, she been hear longer then most people. And you already know Chiron." The last person turned around when they heard them coming. It was Mr. Brunner in his wheel chair.
"Ok, now we got some name at least." Hephaestus muttered.
"For all the good that does us. We already knew Annabeth and Brunner, or I guess Chiron. Mr. D says nothing. I mean, know any wine Gods whose name starts with a D." Loki shook her head.
'Dionuys comes to ming first, but I sincerely doubt that's him." Hermes said.
"Ha! Yeah, like that pretty boy would ever let himself go like that."
"Dionuys cares so much about his looks that I'm surprised if he ever leaves his house with a hair out of place." Hestia giggled.
The Latin teacher turned and smiled at me. His eyes had that mischievous glint they sometimes got in class when he pulled a pop quiz and made all the multiple choice answers B.
"Oh…That's nice, I guess?" Haruhime flinched.
"But-but that's not learning." Yamato was shocked that any teacher would help with cheating. That whent agaisnt everythign she's learned about honor and integrity. How could someone that she thought as a good teacher do such a thing.
"Seems like learning to me." Hermes laughed.
"How on Tenkai and Genkia is that learning?" Asfi asked deadpaned.
"They're learning how to cheat."
'Ah, good, Percy,' he said. 'Now we have four for pinochle.' He offered me a chair to the right of Mr D, who looked at me with bloodshot eyes and heaved a great sigh. 'Oh, I suppose I must say it. Welcome to Camp Half-Blood. There. Now don't expect me to be glad to see you.'
"What a ray of sunshine he is." Mama Ma rolled her eyes.
"Are we sure he's a God of wine? Seems like a God of Dickheads to me." Loki scoffed.
"Is there really a God of that?" Bell whispered to Hestia
"Nooo?....Well." Hestia wanted to answer no but she stopped and thought about it.
"Well?" Bell looked confused that Hestia even need to think about it.
"Well…There's Momus and Hybris, but I don't think they count."
There was no doud tnow that Mr. D was a drunk. And a mean one at that. Mr. Brunner called over Annabeth. 'Annabeth could you get things situated at the cabin for Percy.' 'Percy,' he said ' This is Annabeth she nursed to back to health.' Looking at Annabeth she looked back at him. Looking at her grey eyes he thought for a moment that she might be impressed that he killed the minatour. Instead she said 'You drool in your sleep.' Before leaving.
"HAHAHAHAHA! YOU DROOL! HAHAHA!" Tiona laughed.
"Hehehe, h-he didn't really think she'd say that, did he?" Giggling Lefiya struggled to get her words out.
"Boys, they think just because they do one moderately cool thing that all the girls are gonna start throwing themselves at them." Mama Mia scoffed
"HA, you should hear some of the talk we hear down at the Hostess. By their reckoning, at least half of our patrons are the next Gluttony, while the other have already figured out what's at the end of the dungeon Nya." Chloe laughed.
"Hmnh. Those eyes are really familiar." Hermes narrowed his eyes.
Sitting down with everyone Percy tried to learn who Mr. D was. He asked if the D stood for anything, but he got scolded. Saying that he should be careful, as names have power.
"Again with that names have power bullshit, no they don't. Your name has just enough power as a worm has power over the ground it crawls on." Loki rolled her eyes
"But didn't you guys say that St-Her name carries power?" Finn asked
"Well sure she does. She quite literally puts the power of Fate through it."
"And you said something about Godly names."
"Godly names are the names tied to our core. Our identity is literally tied to our essence, but they don't give us power. They're basically the signboards over a shop."
Chiron mentioned that he was glad that he was alive as it would have been a waste to have a house call on him. Percy then realised that Chiron had replaced his old Latin teacher in the middle of the year, and he didn't know what happened to him.
"Shit, I know he's the good guy, but he's really making it hard to view him as such." Welf said.
"Hey, you don't know if he did anything to him. They might have just paid him to go on a vacation for a while."Yamato said.
Loki narrowed her eyes. What about Peryc warranted a personal visit from what seems like the head honcho of this camp?
Percy was surprised that Chiron came personally to teach him. Beside him, he noticed that Grover flinched whenever Mr. D gave him a card. He seemed afraid of this pudgy man.
"Why the hell is he so scared of this pudgy little thing?" Tiona asked
"- he's a God remember." Tione sighed at her sister.
"Yeah, but it's not like Gods can really hurt us, right? There Arcanum is sealed."
"Ok, no, that's not how it works." Loki sat up. "One even though a God's Aracum is sealed it doesn't mean that they can't hurt you. You can't fully seal something like that without repercussions, so little bits of our Domains can come out and 'asist' us. Miach is still a very good healer, and Ares can comfortably fight a level 2 or 3 adventure, no problem. Second, just because it's sealed doesn't mean we can't unseal it, and Three…They're in a different world, we already saw by Sally's blessing, as well as when that God visited Percy that they're not bound like we are. That God could very well vaporize Grover and not even feel winded."
'You do know how to play pinochle?' Mr D eyed me suspiciously. 'I'm afraid not,' I said. 'I'm afraid not, sir,' he said. 'Sir,' I repeated. I was liking the camp director less and less.
"You and me both, kid. Remind me of some of our more rowdy Heavenly customers who try to get frisky with my girls." Mama Mia scowled. Those kinds of customers were better left on the side of the road.
"Nya Mama usually throws them into the trash if they don't back off." Anya whispered to Lefiya
"Um…after hearing that, I don't think anyone is going to be throwing any Gods over there any time soon." Remembering what Loki just explained to them, she was sure that if they had those Gods, then no one would be saying anything to them.
'Well,' he told me, 'it is, along with gladiator fighting and Pac-Man, one of the greatest games ever invented by humans. I would expect all civilized young men to know the rules.' 'I'm sure the boy can learn,' Chiron said. 'Please,' I said, 'what is this place? What am I doing here? Mr. D didn't seem to know either but Chrion looked at Percy like he should know, as if he was his star student who should have all the answers.
"What the hell is Pac-man?" Tsubaki asked.
"It's so nice to see that Br-Chiron thinks so much of Percy." Haruhime sighed. There weren't many people that thought highly of Percy so it was nice seeing someone that does.
Even though he didn't really need that right now, what he needs are answers.
"I think it'ts fuckign weird. You shouldn't be depending on kids to do anything. They should be depending on you not the other way around." Mama Mia said.
"He's probably just trying to get Percy to grow a little more. Nothing wrong with pushing the younger ones to be better right?" Syr asked.
"Hmph, not right now at least. Let the boy get over what just happened, then he can go back to being the mysterious teacher that actually doesn't teach anything."
'Percy,' he said. 'Did your mother tell you nothing?' 'She said…that she wanted to keep me close' 'Typical,' Mr D said. 'That's how they usually get killed.
"Bitch!"
"How could you say that." Lefiya cried.
"Famliy..should stay together."Asi said resolutely.
"Asi….how long have you been awake."
"..."
"Sounds to me that Mr. D here doesn't have that great of a family." Hestia humfed as she crossed her arms
"- he's a God, he doesn't have a family." Ryuu sighed.
"I rest my case."
Chiron wished that he could show the orientation film, but there wasn't any time so he just came out and said it 'Gods were real'. Percy looked around, waiting for someone to laugh, but nothing happened.
"After everything he's seen, is that really so hard to believe?" Tsubaki felt like she would have believed far less seeing what he's seen.
"I think it's more that he doesn't want to believe it than anything else." At least that's what Ryuu felt like.
"Also, remember he's been under the effects of this Mist for years. Who knows what effects long-term exposure to mind-altering magic has on the brain? Especially if it's all you've ever known." Riviera noted.
"I kind of want to know what this Orientation film thing is." Tione tapped her chin.
"Right! Like, what even is a film?" Tiona agreed with her.
Beside him Grover grabbed Mr. D coke can and started eating it. 'Wait,' I told Chiron. 'You're telling me there's such a thing as God.' 'Well, now,' Chiron said. 'God – capital G, God. That's a different matter altogether. We shan't deal with the metaphysical.'
"What the hell is Goat Boy eating?" Bete wondered.
"It…it looks like some kind of thin metal. Very malleable and flimsy, but despite being used as a cup, no signs of wear, staining, or rust." Hephaestus looked on in interest. Sure, it's nothing that could be forged, as it looked like a soft metal, but for crafting, it might prove interesting.
"Another interesting advancement of this world then." Tsubaki carefully noted it down
"Hold on, forget that. Why did it sound like Percy was talking about a specific God? Is there a God just called God?" Gareth asked.
"What? No. What kind of self-entitled Jackass would name themselves God?" Loki scoffed
"Narcissus?" Hestia suggested.
"Nah, that femboy loves his name too much to change it."
"From the way Chiron said "with a Capital G" kinda makes me think that this God is kind of important, so a High or maybe Supreme God?" Hermes thought.
"Ok, but what Supreme God would call themselves God. I mean what do they think they're levitating above the rest of us? If you're gonna be that arrogant, you better be better to back it up."
Loki knew herself that if she found someone calling themselves 'God' then she'd have socked them in the face no questions asked.
"Hmm, a God that's strong, stays by themselves and is arrogant…. Yahweh?" Freya casually sipped her wine as she tried to think of any names that she knew that fit.
"Ugh, not that guy." Loki scowled at that name. One of the most hated names on Tenkai.
"What? What's wrong with Yahewh? He's the nicest guy on Tenkai. He even visited me when I was lonely, watching the Flame." Hestia cried.
"Phe~ He's nice, alright. He's also an arrogant bastard."
"What'd he do, Loki-sama?" Finn asked
"That bastard walks around Tenkia like he's the fucking king. Butting into others' jobs when he's got no right and then fucks offf leaving everyone else with the mess."
Hephaestus rolled her eye.
"Oh don't mind her. Yahew actually a pretty nice guy. She's just mad because he did her job better than her-."
"I didn't ask for his fucking help. He just shows up out of nowhere, grabs my plans, then fixes the next 500 years and says 'No big deal, it's easy when you know what you're doing' then walks away!? I mean, who the hell does he think he is!" Loki was fuming just remembering what that bastard did to her.
"Hehe, I heard that Loki got so mad that she challenged him ot a fight, but he declined, saying that he didn't want to hurt her and that she was, and I quote, 'too weak'. He then proceeded to lay her into the ground when she charged him." Hermers laughed.
"Hahahaha, I remember that. Didn't he also heal you up afterwards and then continue doing your job because he was sorry and didn't want you to strain your self." Freya joined in, it wasn't every day that you could make fun of Loki after all
"SHUT UP! Don't think that I don't know that he also messed with your jobs. Freya, I know for a fact that he undid 100 years' worth of War because he said peace was better. And Hermes didn't he make a lot of thieves repent their ways and donate all their stolen loot."
At that, they couldn't say anything. Sheepishly looking away, they knew that Loki was right.
Ouranos sighed. Honestly, Yahweh, compared to the other Gods in Tenkia was a Saint. But he was also blind to his own strength at times and came off as arrogant, the other times he was just being an ass.
"Yeah, that's what I thought." Loki plopped back onto her seat as she picked up the book again.
'Better to deal with the smaller matter, like the Olympians' 'Zeus,' I said. 'Hera. Apollo. You mean them.' And there it was again – distant thunder on a cloudless day.
"Ugh, if I never have to hear Apollo again, it'd be too soon." Hestia groaned.
"I kind of don't like how Chiron is calling us smaller, even if it is kind of true, cause he's a supreme God," Hephaestus said.
Percy tried to argue that the old myths were just stories, from before people knew of science but Mr D just scoffed. He asked why did mortals think they knew everything. With just a glimpse, they believe that they've come so far, but had they really?
"Hey, that's not true. We've come a long way since the Dark Ages." Welf said.
"Yeah " Tiona cheered.
Behind them, Ouranos did a so-so gesture with his hand.
'Percy,' Chiron said, Can you imagine that for a moment, never dying? Never fading? Existing, just as you are, for all time?' I was about to answer, off the top of my head, that it sounded like a pretty good deal, but the tone of Chiron's voice made me hesitate. 'You mean, whether people believed in you or not,' I said. 'Exactly,' Chiron agreed. 'If you were a god, how would you like being called a myth, an old story to explain lightning?
Loki shook her head.
"I know that'd piss me off. I know I'm not the most pridfull God-"
"Your not?" Riviera asked, looking at Loki with a raised eyebrow.
"-But I still like that my works get recognised. I'd hate if everyone just thought that all my hard work was just nothing but a random work for the world."
What if I told you, Perseus Jackson, that someday people would call you a myth, just created to explain how little boys can get over losing their mothers?' My heart pounded. He was trying to make me angry for some reason, but I wasn't going to let him. 'But I don't believe in gods.'
"HEY! TOO FAR!" Hestia screamed.
"T-Thats to mean." Haruhime gripped her dress.
"W-Why'd he say that? I thought he was nice." Lefiya asked Finn.
"He's trying to shock the boy awake. He's taking him through the fast track of wiping the Mist effects off of him instead of doing it slowly."
"We kind of do the same thing after big battles in the Dungeon. It's not nice, but sometimes people get up shaken and confused after a fight and we got to get them up and armed before the next attack. Gareth sighed. There's been a few times he's had to do that himself, and he's had to say some pretty terrible things to wake them up.
He always apologizes but it never makes it any better.
'Oh, you'd better,' Mr D murmured. 'Before one of them incinerates you.'
"Also that." Freya snorted.
Mr.D then out of nowhere, summons a goblet of wine. Chiron, sighs and reminds Mr D of his restrictions. Mr D apologizes to the sky and instead gets a Diet Dr. Pepper. Chiron winks and Percy and tells him that Mr D is being punished by his father for going after a forest nymph off limits.
"Well at least we know that he's really a God of Wine, Lili guesses." Lili looked at Mr. D in disgust.
"And that he can use his Arcanum outside of Heaven." Bell said.
"Hahaha! He's a God of Whine, alright. He's like a little kid, even getting put in timeout too." Loki laughed.
"Ha, and all because his father got jealous that he was chasing a spirit's skirt and- hold up father." Tiona started to laugh but then she heard what Chiron said.
"Did he say father?" Tsubaki asked.
"I think he did." Hephaestus narrowed her eye.
"You think he means like a Father God? Like Anu." Hermes wondered.
"Maybe..."Ouranos leaned forward.
'A wood nymph,' I repeated, still staring at the Diet Coke can like it was from outer space. Mr. D called it unfair. Forced to watch after these brats. The first time was Probation but the second…well he got sent here. He couldn't stop himself.
"Ugh." Lefiya looked away in disgust
"Pervert." Riveria scoffed. What are all Gods like this?
"He really is the God of Whine isn't he." Tiona joked.
"See girls, this is just how all men are. I bet you even that rabbit has thoughts like these. Don't worry though I'll protect you. Just stay with me and you'll never have to deal with those dirty men ever again." Loki nodded.
"Loki-sama." They shook their head. In their minds she was just as bad if not worse.
"Now hold on a second not all guys are like that. In fact I'd go as far to say that a majority aren't like that at all." Hermes stood up to defend all the guys that coudln't defend themselves.
"Hermese-sama is correct." Asfi nodded her head.
"Asfi-"
"If it had been Hermes-sama chasing this nymph, he would have also been trying to get with her mother, grandmother, and sisters if she had any."
"No, hold on, that only happened once." Hermes looked at Asfi in disbelief. How did she even know about that time
"Yes, and it turned out splendidly, didn't it." Asfi rolled her eyes.
"What happened? Did you get together with them?" Welf asked, interested to hear how the story ended.
"Well, no. Eventually, they found out about each other. But seeing how distraught all of them were, I decided that I must atone for my actions-" Hermes sadly shook his head as he held his hand over his heart.
"They all kicked him in the balls a couple of times, then went out to have brunch together."
"Asfi!"
"They even invited me. It was great, we still keep in touch through letters. In fact, one of the daughters, Gieyu, is getting married in a couple of months, and the mother, Kari, is getting back together with her ex-husband."
"What! Gieyu is getting married! NOO!" Hermes screamed out in despair as he sank to his knees.
"Hermes-sama, did you actually like-" Lefiya looked at him with pity. Was he really in love with one of those women? And now to learn that he missed his chance and she was going to anoth-
" She was the one with the best ass! How could she give it to someone else before I even got a chance to taste it?"
"Never mind, die scum." Lefiya turned away in disgust.
"Scum."
"Idiot."
"Die."
"Nya, Pervert."
"Madao."
"AAAHHHHH!!!! TAKE THAT BACCCKK!! I'M NOT A MADAO!! I'M A REALLY COOL GUY, RIGHT? PLEASE SAY IT, SAY I'M A COOL GUY!! LOOK, I EVEN HAVE THIS COOL HAT, RIGHT? THAT MEANS I'M NOT A MADAO!!"
"...Madao."
"GAHH!" Hermes held out his hand, as if he was just struck in the heart with an arrow he went down.
"Well…ignoring that. I really don't think that this guy should be in charge of a bunch of kids. They might grow up to be weird." Finn said.
"Honestly, I think the better punishment was taking away his alcohol. Seems to be the only thing he cares about." Gareth snorted.
"The way he says Father-"
'And…' I stammered, 'your father is…' 'Di immortales, Chiron,' Mr D said. 'I thought you taught this boy the basics. My father is Zeus, of course.'
"Huh?"
"That's not-."Loki looked confused.
"Gods can't have children."Ouranos said. His voice set in stone.
"But this is a different world-."Fin tried to say but Loki wasn't stopping she needed to know more.
I ran through D names from Greek mythology. Wine. The skin of a tiger. The satyrs that all seemed to work here. The way Grover cringed, as if Mr D were his master. 'You're Dionysus,' I said. 'The god of wine.'
"...What?" Now Hephaestus was confused. How in the hell was that Dionysus.
"No that can't be right." Hestia shook her head. No way.
"Diony- This fat fuck!?" Loki asked.
"I-It is. It is him." Freya stared wide eyed at the wall. She couldn't see it before but now the soul's resemblance was hard not to see.
"Dammit is that why he felt familiar." Hermes wondered.
"...."
"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH."
"Heheheheh Loki don't hehehe laugh. Its not hehehe." Hestia tried to tell Loki off but even she couldn't help but giggle.
"HAHAHAHA THAT PRETTY BOY HAHAHAHA!"
But Ouranos wasn't laughing. He was very much not laughing.
"ENOUGH!" Ouranos shouted over the laughter. Standing up he addressed everyone.
"You're all forgetting the most important thing that was just revealed."
"..Your right. A God had a child." Hestia stared wide eyed at the Hephaestus.
"T-That's, but he's wrong right. Gods can't have kids. We've tried." Loki tried to tell them.
"But he's not lying." Freya said. Looking at them all in the eye she was dead serious."His soul isn't lying."
"B-But ho-"
"WATCHER!" Ouranos screamed.
"What is this. H-How can a God have a child? It's impossible."
"But how. If our words are similar, with the same Gods, then why can their Gods have kids and ours cannot?"
"...But here it was."
Hestia thought back to when they were watching Percy's memories as a baby.
"That God-"
"In the memory, it hadn't been looking at a legacy. It had been looking at its child. Percy is the son of a God." Freya realized.
The Gods looked at each other. What would it have been like, they wondered, if they had kids? What would they have been like?
"...I think for now we should move on."Hermes sighed.
"Yeah, let's leave everything for our nightmares tonight." Loki grabbed the book.
Mr D rolled his eyes. 'What do they say, these days, Grover? Do the children say, "Well, duh!"?' 'Y-yes, Mr D.' 'Then, "Well, duh!" Percy Jackson. Did you think I was Aphrodite, perhaps?' 'You're a god.' 'Yes, child.' 'A god. You.'
"...Yeah, some of us can barely believe it ourselves." Loki rolled his eyes.
"...Come on…be nice."Hestia tried to say, but even she was having a hard time believing that he was a God.
"Oh, what, you can't say that our Dionysus isn't as useless as this one. Sure, he's better looking, but all he's good for is that wine of his. Besides that, he's kind of just a pretty statue."
"Man, I don't even think any of his Familia are even that famous." Hephasestus tried to think of any names from his group, but none were coming up.
He turned to look at me straight on, and I saw a kind of purplish fire in his eyes, a hint that this whiny, plump little man was only showing me the tiniest bit of his true nature. Grape vine choking the life out of men. Sailors going mad on wine. Madness consuming mortal minds till oblivion 'Would you like to test me, child?' he said quietly. 'No. No, sir.'
"DON'T LOOK!!!"
"CLOSE YOUR EYES!!"
The Gods were screaming at everyone, trying to get them to look away. Loki tried to stop reading, but the scene was still going. Purple flashes were taking over the wall as Madness was seeping through.
Thankfully, the visions didn't last long. After a few minutes, everyone was able to look again. Though the brief look that they did get stuck with them.
"Hah, hah, w-what was that?" Mama Mia gasped.
"It felt like I was going insane." Syr shuddered.
"I-It was l-like Soma. B-But worse…evil." Lili clutched her shoulders.
"Take deep breaths, control your breathing. What you just witnessed was a God using his Aracum." Ouranos stood over Fels, keeping him steady as he addressed the theater.
"W-What you're telling me that he tried to attack Percy. Over what? Being rude?" Tiona asked. To her that seemed beyond petty even for a God.
"...That wasn't an attack." Loki sighed.
"N-Not an a-"
"That was a God opening their eyes." Loki said.
"When we seal our Arcanum we don't just seal our strength, but also the weight of our domains."Hermes explained
Hephaestus looked sadly down at Tsubaki as she stroked her hair. "Gods just aren't something that you can look at."
"Then h-he." Bell started.
"Showed Percy a peek into his true form." Ryuu finished.
"Honeslty, your children are lucky that you weren't really witnessing it. If you had been really there you might have actually gone crazy. Maybe the higher levels would have been fine but you lower ones…" Freya trailed off, the implication to horrible to say.
"Then… how is Percy ok?" Ais asked.
"Well if that crazy idea that he's actually the son of a God is right then his soul might be a little bit more robust then yours letting him shrug off any minor affects from peeking at a God." Loki rubbed the back of her head.
"Might be?"Finn asked.
"Look, I don't know. I've never even thought that a half-human half-God could be possible, much less thought of what differences they might have!" Loki shouted.
"No…something isn't right." Hermes said. Getting up he got closer to the wall, now frozen on Dionysus' face staring down at them. Pointing at the wall Hermes turned to everyone.
"Dionysus is a god of Wine, his visions, the ones his Domain creates, shouldn't have been so….crazy."
"Hold on, he's right. Normally, a God of Wine would show visions of Drunkery and Party…not screaming and insanity." Hestia agreed.
"Yeah….What we saw is more in line with a God of Madness." Freya nodded her head.
"But Dionysus is only a God of Wine, not Madness." Hepheastus said.
"And yet that one seems to be." Loki motioned towards the wall
"...Has anyone actually ever seen Dionysus's domain before?" Hermes asked asked, looking at the Gods gathered.
"Fate, dammit, I knew there was something wrong with him. I was just too focused on….others." Freya bit out. It's always been a bit chomping at her. Even though she could see Dionyus' soul, something was always covering a hidden part, away from her gaze.
She had always assumed that it was just a hidden fetish or some kind of embarrassing secret, not a piece of his Domain.
Finally, though Ournaos put his foot down.
"That's enough. These kinds of talks should not be helpful in mortal view. Wait until the readings are over. We can confront Dionysus afterwards."
Mr D smiled. 'I think I won' He said. Laying out his cards, placing what looks to be a winning hand out. But Chiron smiled back 'Not so fast' Laying out his cards, he showed that he had a better hand. For a second Peryc thought Mr D was gonna vaporize Chiron but he just scoffed and left taking Grover with him.
"Hell of a lot more restraint from a God of Madness than I thought possible."Loki looked suspiciously at Dionysus.
Hestia nodded.
"Yeah…you know I know how you guys feel about those Gods, and even I can admit that they can be-"
"Bat shit insane," Hermes suggested.
"A bit much, but he…seems... oh I don't know calmer." Hestia said.
"I can see it too. Probably explains why ours isn't raving mad as well." Freya thought.
'Will Grover be okay?' I asked Chiron. Chiron nodded, though he looked a bit troubled. 'Old Dionysus isn't really mad. He just hates his job. He's been… ah, grounded, I guess you would say, and he can't stand waiting another century before he's allowed to go back to Olympus.'
"Well, whatever that sack of shit is, it's still fucking hilarious that he's grounded," Tiona said.
"Ha, can you imagine? A God grounded by his dad." Bete chuckled.
"Ugh, please don't bring that up. I haven't even mentally prepared myself for the thought of that old pervert being a father." Loki stuck out her tongue in disgust. Hating the very thought of him as a parent.
"...You think Zeus is a good father?" Ais wondered.
'Mount Olympus,' I said. 'You're telling me there really is a palace there?' 'Well now, there's Mount Olympus in Greece. And then there's the home of the gods, the convergence point of their powers, which did indeed used to be on Mount Olympus. It's still called Mount Olympus, out of respect to the old ways, but the palace moves, Percy, just as the gods do.' 'You mean the Greek gods are here? Like… in America?' 'Well, certainly. The gods move with the heart of the West.' Thats when Chiron broke it down. How the Gods moved with the people, how they went west with their followers.
Finn leaned forward. This, not the revelation about the Gods and their kids, or that Dionyuss was hiding a piece of his Domian. This was something important.
This, tying themselves to mortals, following them and leaving their original place of power. It tugged at him.
He didn't know what it meant yet, but he was sure that whatever it meant, that it would be a central part of this puzzle.
It was overwhelming, especially realizing I was part of Chiron's 'we,' like I belonged to some club. 'Who are you, Chiron? Who... who am I?' Chiron smiled and shifted as if to stand from his wheelchair, but I knew he couldn't because he was paralyzed from the waist down. 'Who are you?' he mused. He said that he would have to figure that out himself as he picked himself up. Lifting out of the wheel chair and standing up on for horse legs'What a relief,' the centaur said. 'I'd been trapped in there so long, my fetlocks had fallen asleep. Now, Percy Jackson, let's meet the other campers,''
Every one was too shocked to say anything. A man who they had thought to be a regular man, just stood up and was shown to half horse legs.
"Haaaah." Loki sighed as she rubbed her eyes.
"That took way longer then I thought it would." She said.
Lifting the book over her head she held her hand over her eye as she waved it around. "Any one else want a turn."
Hey sorry for the late update. I was wanting to put up two chapters for a holiday gift but the time got away from me with everything happening.
But here it is, I hope everyone had a happy holiday and a Good new year with a hope for a better one this year.
Also, if you haven't checked it out, let me know your ideas on the Fanfic idea that I have swimming around in my head. I put details on the Lunch chapter, so let me know.
