It has been a year since the Mikaelsons drove the stake through their father's heart
In that time their cruelty had only grown
Entire villages drowned in blood. Nothing left but the bodies of the deceased and the blood drawn Mikaelson name smeared into the very foundations of the villages themselves
Subtlety did not interest them
They wanted everyone to know who they were
And how spectacularly it worked
Neighboring villages who have not yet been targeted have gone into hiding. No longer does anyone leave their homes. Hoping that it would save them...
Yet the Mikaelsons have not been heard from
After all they are too busy playing aristocrats.
--------
"Wait, wait—wait! I can help you. I'm a personal servant to the Count De Martel." The poor little mortal pleaded frantically
"And?" Niklaus questions, raising his eyebrow
"I— I can help you," the human says, trying to steady his voice. "I was sent to escort the De Martels' guests. If you wish to take their place, you'll need me to help you blend in."
Laughter came from all 5 siblings. Even the usually stoic Finn and Elijah let out chuckles at the human's comments.
Did he really think they would need to hide from humans?
Kol wastes no time, speeding forward and seizing the human by the throat."It's rather silly of you," he says, watching the man struggle for air, "to believe you hold any value to us at all."
"Now," Kol says, meeting the man's eyes, his pupils dilating as the man stops struggling."Be courteous and lead us to your home."
The man's expression goes empty. Kol releases his grip, and the human straightens stiffly before hurrying ahead to escort them to the De Martels.
Compulsion, that's what they call it. One time, when Elijah was feeling particularly vile, he told a man to stand tall and die quietly and proudly — his dead family around him was no excuse.
After all, panic is unsightly.
The man obeyed without hesitation.
Elijah didn't show it, but he was surprised.
Once he shared his findings with his siblings and hundreds of testers later. They were all quite skilled when it came to that technique
From that moment on, it became the Mikaelsons' favorite trick.
------
The estate of Count De Martel was in celebration
They were receiving a neighboring count after all.
Hoping to leave a good impression the count decided to throw a gala. His reasoning goes down to securing an alliance against the rumored beasts known as the Mikaelsons
Growing impatient, the Count turned to his eldest.
"When shall he arrive?"
Tristan exhaled slowly, "I do not know, Father. He should arrive shortly."
As if summoned by his words, the doors opened.
Five figures dressed like nobles stepped through. No servants that he sent were in sight.
The count furrowed his brows. "Who are all of you?" He asked cautiously, after all he had dealings with the neighboring count in the past. Yet the man was not amongst the guests.
They seemed to bicker amongst themselves for a while until a blonde man seemingly lost an argument and with an irritated expression stepped up to introduce himself and the rest
"Good evening," He started with a bow. Yet nothing in the gesture seemed respectful. In fact, it was quite blatantly mocking. "My name is Niklaus Mikaelson." He paused, almost like he was looking for a reaction
And what a splendid reaction he recieved
The count immediately stiffened, alongside Tristan and several other members in the room.
Niklaus seemed pleased with the reaction before starting to introduce the rest of them. "These are my siblings Rebekah, Kol, Elijah, and Finn." The one introduced as Kol stepped foward with a mischievous grin on face. "Thank you for allowing us into your estate. I believe it will be quite the memorable experience."
The count stopped paying attention from the moment Niklaus said his last name
The name Mikaelson filled him with immediate dread.
It reminded him of when he first heard of the name.
He remembered being full of rage when one of his vassal villages skipped on their shipment of produce. He personally went to question and punish the offenders.
Yet it was too late...
Before even arriving, he could smell the awful stench of iron in the air. Yet that was nothing compared to what he witnessed that day.
Men, women, children. It did not matter, all were gone
Some were simply drained. Others… weren't granted that mercy.
Some had been ripped open, their limbs twisted in horrifying angles, bones sticking out through the flesh. Others were simply just torn apart
Yet the most horrifying sight of all laid in the center of the village
Mikaelson written in blood and limbs on the ground. Entire bodies were used to write the god forsaken name.
They wanted people to know who they were.
They wanted the fear.
They reveled in it.
Now, to see the perpetrators of the nightmarish scenes he witnessed he did not know what to do. He had no belief they could fight them, after all the villages had battle-hardened men, yet they were all butchered nonetheless. 'If I show them hospitality perhaps we have a chance to survive' He thinks, sharing a glance with his son who seemed to be thinking along the same lines.
So with that in mind he put the most charming smile he could muster before speaking excitedly. "Welcome! Welcome to my estate, it's always a pleasure to receive guests. I am Count De Martel and this is my son Tristan De Martel, my daughter Aurora has not yet arrived but she shall be here quite soon"
The one introduced as Elijah spoke smoothly, "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Thank you for your hospitality, we are quite drained from our travels."
"Not to worry, you shall be rested and well-fed," he said, his heart hammering against his chest. "It would shame me as a host to do any less."
He hoped this would be enough for now. Although most have heard of the infamous Mikaelsons, there were still those who lived in blissful ignorance. His servants among them. He's seen the bodies drained of blood, he assumed that they were some sort of blood drinkers. If their thrist is quenched by the servants then perhaps they'll spare the nobles.
He gestured to his servants, "Please, accommodate our guests to our finest quarters. Follow every command they give."
They bowed and escorted the Mikaelsons away, unaware of their tragic fate
-------
After the Mikaelsons were given their separate quarters they convened in Rebekah's room for a discussion
"Why are we not just killing everyone?" Kol asked his siblings curiously. "It's hasn't been long since we arrived and I am already feeling restless."
Niklaus rolls his eyes, "Learn some restraint brother, we can't simply just kill everyone. Besides, blame Rebekah, she wanted to enjoy a noble life."
Rebekah huffed, "Forgive me if I prefer silk over entrails."
"I agree with Rebekah, it was truly becoming monotonous, a change in pace is greatly appreciated." Finn says. While he did not have a problem with his lifestyle any longer it was became dull killing every being in sight.
"Also Nik you bloody brute, why are you of all people telling Kol to learn restraint." Rebekah scoffed and shot Niklaus a look
"Let us move on to more pressing concerns," Elijah speaks up, "How long are we planning to stay? Perhaps we kill everyone and continue to live here? After all we would eventually need to settle down. It is quite the estate"
"Oh my, Elijah — is violence always your first thought?" Kol says, amusement in every word. "You really are a brute."
Elijah is not amused.
"In any case," Niklaus speaks, "I believe we should blend in for some time. I too am growing quite tired of our travels, and if it gets too tiresome then we just kill everyone like Elijah suggested."
"Agreed"
"Very Well"
"Lovely"
"Fineeeeee"
------
Niklaus wandered the estate alone, seeking a moment of peace away from his siblings.
The halls were quieter now. A few servants still moved through the corridors, but it was nothing like the bustle when they first arrived.
'The nobles must have gone home', he thought. The gala had ended — there was little life left here now.
He was shaken out of his thoughts as someone bumped into him.
"Apologies, my lord," came a soft voice.
Klaus looked down to see a beautiful woman.
'How irritating', he thought — though his face was nothing but a polite smile.
"Quite all right," he said smoothly. "I am Niklaus. May I have the honor of knowing your name?"
She blushes as she shyly responds, "I am Aurora De Martel, a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
"Likewise," he responds, "Forgive me, but it seems my siblings await me. It was lovely meeting you." As he turns to walk away he is once again stopped by her voice. He takes a deep breath as he thinks, 'One more time and I'm snapping her neck'
"Wait!" She says hoping to grab his attention once again, "It is quite the lovely night, would you do me the honor of accompanying me on a stroll through the garden?"
He rolls his eyes inwardly, "I apologize, but like I said earlier, I must find my siblings." He says hoping that he would not have to kill the daughter of the count not even a few hours after they've arrived. "Please! it would not take but a moment of your time." she says ignoring everything coming out of is mouth
Niklaus looks up and lets out a loud sigh, "I have to work on my restraint," he murmurs before he speeds towards Aurora and snaps her neck ending her swiftly. 'Never mind,' he thinks, 'it is her fault after all. All could have been avoided if she listened' With that he picks up her body and throws it in a nearby bush before walking away.
--------
Elijah Mikaelson is quite vexed
After spending a year killing everything it sight he and his siblings finally decided to settle down for a time before going back to killing everything in sight.
It was fun after all
In any case, not even the first night of what is supposed to be their long term lodging, Niklaus has already gone off killing the daughter of the count. Elijah walked away after hearing his excuses.
"She was droning on about the garden Elijah! I just wanted a leisurely walk and I was attacked by a harpy! If anything I'm the victim!"
Once again Elijah was not amused
Now he had to go and find the body and hide it discreetly because apparently Niklaus threw her into the nearest bush.
While it would not be hard to just kill everyone and get it over with he was enjoying these times of peace, and compelling everyone would just be tedious
How great it would be if they could compel multiple people at a time
Regardless, he was approaching where Niklaus said he left her body, yet he did not find anything.
'Did I take a wrong direction?' He questioned inwardly, suddenly he hears a heartbeat going a little too fast approaching him slowly
Elijah sighs, "It seems Niklaus was already caught" he says aloud, as Tristan de Martel realizing he's been caught, appears as he rushes towards Elijah a dagger in hand
"THIS IS FOR AURORA!" He yells full of rage, looking to drive the dagger into Elijah's chest as he rushes towards him.
Before Tristan can understand it, Elijah has already firmly gripped the dagger and pulled it from his hands
Yet the dagger cut him as he was grabbing it
Elijah freezes
He made him bleed
He continues to stare down at his hand as if in a trance
Rage flooding him
A pathetic human made him bleed
He clenches his jaw as he speeds to Tristan as he palms his face with his bleeding hand causing Tristan to indirectly drink a bit of his blood before violently snaps his neck.
"Know your place" He said to the corpse in a chilling voice
------
Elijah is dragging the bodies of both the De Martels as he found Aurora's body shortly after dealing with Tristan
'Now that both of his children are dead we surely don't have much time here' Elijah thinks exasperatedly. Not even a single night and they have to kill everyone and move on. Although it is a bit his fault, he was justifiably mad that Tristan made him bleed. 'No use in complaining' he thinks as he finds a clearing where he dumps both the bodies. "Maybe we can actually get a full night of rest before we move on," he murmurs before shaking his head. If he and Niklaus already killed one then surely Kol has killed at least a dozen
Suddenly Elijah was broken out of his thoughts as Tristan De Martel springs up
What?
Elijah was sure he killed him.
"Why- Why am I so hungry?" Tristan questions
No
It was not possible
Could it be?
He remembers that Tristan drank some of his blood before he killed him
This
This changes everything
-------
Well thats another one done. I wasn't quite sure how to make it natural enough for them to turn someone so that Tristan thing was kinda weird. Anyways I might get some people wondering why they are so much more violent and arrogant compared to canon. In this one they are all fucking psychos. In canon they had the fear of Mikael to keep them grounded and never draw too much attention knowing that too much could bring him to them. But here, they know there's nothing that can stop them and they have no problems in showing how cruel they can be. These Mikaelsons have no attachment to their human lives and at the same time do not care for them either. They are pure evil, no redemption just a bunch of crazy people. So yea, I don't know when I' ll write a new chapter probably by Thursday. Tell me how you like it so far. Cya
