Chapter 1 - Auva: Twin of Altair, Daughter of Artemis

Evangeline beckons Auva over with a flow of her hand that seems to have even the wind heed her manicured nails, seduction swirling deep in her rose gold irises. Something twists inside Auva's throat, stretching against the mere confines of her skin.

The varying shades of golden locks that cascade down Evageline's open back are held by a string of pearls and a pair of sea fairies that flitter around, delicately carrying her hair as if the strands were straw spun into gold.

Auva sacrifices a glance over to her twin brother, perceiving that he's already fraternizing with Zade, Blaise, Riesling, and Lucien. The cluster of them already judging and measuring who's muscles grew more since the last time the entire Pantheon was summoned.

One of the sea fairies dispatches from her orbit around Evageline's hair, flittering towards Auva with rapt determination and a mean pinch.

Startled, Auva stares at the sea fairy in utter disbelief, rubbing the area she was pinched, "A summons from our mistress shall not be blatantly omitted, if you were a mortal your existence would cease." The sea fairy's voice was a shrill one that potentially and temporarily disabled Auva's hearing.

Evangeline pinches one of the fairy's scaled wings with her lethally groomed claws, an incredulous look on her face, "And you shall not assess a daughter of the night in that manner. I should morph you into a land mammal cursed to live without water for eternity as punishment for believing in your right to demean a superior of yours."

Terror crawls its way onto the sea fairies face, "I shall forfeit my life to you as you wish my mistress, I will not beg for it if you deem it unworthy."

Auva's voice remains tethered to her throat, any visible emotion eradicated from her face. This is why she has never taken an acolyte under her wing or had the patience to mentor a servant, why would she deal with the incompetence if she could do anything she needed or desired herself?

"Pity," Evageline coats the word with poison, silky and disinterested, causing Auva to surreptitiously bite her lip at the velvety tone. Then Eva rips the fairy's wings off, "these shall make for a fine garment once they've been amalgamated properly, I'll gift them to you Auva as an apology."

An arch creeps its way into one of Auva's brows, "No, thanks." She wasn't particularly fond of wasting her time with nonsensical things like cruel punishment. Evangeline, on the other hand, took much after her mothers likeness.

Aphrodite was fond of cruelty and Eva didn't lack her mothers indulgence. In fact, Auva noticed a certain gleam gloss over her eyes, as if her personal pleasure derived from another's pain.

Sadist, thought Auva. She would know.

The unpunished sea fairy scrambles to account for the slack of the punished fairy's duty, her tired wings flittering at a rate double than before. The iridescent gleam glossing Eva's eyes slithered away, replacing it with boredom instead. "Have you an idea as to why we have been summoned?"

Auva hadn't the faintest clue, even after registering the fact that most deities and their offspring were summoned. "It must be imperative, a summons with all of us in attendance is no ordinary occurrence."

"Oh how I'd relish in the delight of it being war!" Eva squeals, squeezing Auva's forearm with haphazard strength and causing her to shift on her feet.

Auva scans the general radius of the Pantheon while Eva drools over a daydream of war. Her twin was still nestled with brainless apes, Eva has snaked around her forearm with her breasts pressed up against Auva while leaning on her shoulder, and all other deities were scattered around the Pantheon awaiting the arrival of Zeus.

Their mother isn't here, but their uncle is and he's draped across a golden armchair adorned with all types of jewels to mimic the sun's luminosity, the back of his chair arced with golden spikes, and his face painted with prominent monotony.

A nip at Auva's collarbone springs her attention back to Eva, who peers up at her under lust dusted eyelashes, "Auvie, I'm perpetually bored,"an exasperated sigh escapes her plump painted lips, "Indulge me, dear?" She finishes off the question licking along Auva's collarbone, who lets out a slight groan of pleasure in return.

But she can't get lost in Eva, it's a twisted and sickening cycle. But oh, how much she wants to, desires to, needs to. She can't rip herself from Eva's grip like she should, can't shut her out even though what she did this time sliced Auva's heart into pieces. But she also can't fall back into this lust driven cycle after Eva slept with her twin as a way to get back at her.

"No, Eva. We're here together under political circumstances that force our proximity and require our mutual civility at worst and us being friends at best." Auva swallows the emotion wanting to escape her throat, lacing her words with detachment and objectivity.

Venomous slits filled with determination morph Eva's usually big and doll like eyes, instead of backing down she props herself up purposely in a position so her breasts spill over in front of Auva's face, "Do I need to beg Auvie baby," her whisper slick with seduction and velvet and all things bad, "you know you're aching for me, just the way I am for you."

Auva locks eyes with her twin, and any desire she felt in the heat of the moment had vanished instantly. With no emotion and words, Auva rises and strides over to her uncle, who seems to have watched the entire encounter, "Trouble in paradise, niece?"

Auva rolls her eyes and pushes his legs off the chair, "That would mean the existence of a paradise in the first place."

"Oh yes niece, just push my legs right off my own armchair, it's not as if I was resting them."

"What could you possibly be resting from, uncle?"

Apollo shrugs his shoulders with indifference, "Rest from all the tedious and tiring godly work I must do."

Auva questions for a moment why she came here for solace, but decided an irritating uncle is better than a toxic ex-lover. "What is the reason behind all of our summons? And why couldn't Mother Moon attend?"

Another careless shrug accompanied by a bored sigh, "Your lack of information is on par with mine, Zeus should inform us momentarily, sit my darling niece in your mothers seat. Speaking about your mother, I haven't the faintest clue." Apollo finishes the statement with an airy and dreamlike state sigh.

Mother Moon disappeared often, Artemis wasn't one to loiter around and gossip. But Auva secretly wondered if there was more to it, if she was actively avoiding her two children.

More often than not Artemis was like a slinky shadow that coursed through the depths of the night, never appearing much in a materialistic form.

Crack! A merciless thunder reverberated through the wind and ground, cleaving the sky in half and shaking the ground. Every deity knew what that meant, that Zeus wanted to enunciate his presence.

All the banter and carelessness that had been woven through the deities and their offspring's moods split at the ends and unfurled, morphing them into statued soldiers devoid of any emotion.

Auva settled in the smaller and less ornate armchair beside her mothers. Part of her was afraid she would be spited had she sat on her mothers armchair, even though Apollo said she could otherwise. But Apollo wasn't a trustworthy god, so she decided against it.

Altair settled beside Auva, propping his elbow on the side and leaning against his fist. He peered over at his twin sister, mouthing 'borefest' before feigning an exaggerated yawn. If there's one thing Auva and Altair have in common, it's their disdain for political congregations with choleric deities who will initiate a war over stolen cattle.

Zeus thumped his lightning rod three times on the marbled table to gain everyone's undivided attention, yet Auva felt Evangeline's lethally acrimonious gaze boring into her skull.

Zeus cleared his throat one time in warning towards her, at which Eva obliged and swiveled her head towards him.

No deity was prepared for what Zeus divulged next.

"Hades has declared war on the entire Pantheon, he has threatened to unleash all the beasts and Titans haunting Tartarus itself." The insidious and sadistic gleam glossed over Eva's eyes again. Altair and Auva glanced at each other, with Altair mouthing 'not a borefest then'.

Well that sure as hell isn't war over cattle, thought Auva.
