Chapter 3 - 03. Local Shops

Stepping out the the tavern I turned to Rex and told him. "Alright start going to shops and seeing what they have to offer. If you find something worth our time send me a pm right away so you don't forget about it." Looking around at the nearby shops I shake my head. "Let's hope with how close we are to the Fire Peak Mountains that a few of these shops are ran by those with a lizard bloodline. At least then our rep will be neutral."

Nodding his head in agreement, Rex left going towards a nearby blacksmith. Looking around I notice a potion shop, potions are always popular items, so I might as well start there. As I'm walking to the shop I hear some nearby players talking about an elite wolf in the nearby forest. Knowing how rare elites are, especially early game, I quickly send a pm to Kevin. Hopefully they can prevent these fools from killing it.

Mobs in AoA are different then most games, they are a finite resource. They reproduce naturally, meaning you can't just sit in one area and have endless respawns. If you completely clear an area of mobs they would take years to reproduce, if they do at all. Elites are mobs that have started the process of evolution. If they live long enough to evolve they then become a wild boss, meaning a boss outside of a dungeon. If they somehow evolve again they become an elite wild boss, something that's extremely rare. The final evolution they become a world boss, there is unlikely to ever be more then three world bosses at a time.

I'm hoping SoA can protect it long enough for it to become a wild boss. While I would like us to get it to an elite wild boss, I also know that once word gets out that there's a wild boss here, then players will flock to this zone to get the kill. So as soon as it becomes a wild boss SoA can kill it for a crazy amount of experience, especially for early game, and hopefully get something my guild can sell.

Shaking my head at those thought I enter the potion shop, I nearly cry out in joy, as I see a kobold-human hybrid behind the counter. How that's possible I don't know, nor do I want to find out. While their lizard bloodline has definitely been watered down, they should still be lizard enough for my rep to be 0 instead of -2.

"A fellow kobold! Welcome to my potionsss sshop! What can I get for you?" The man? says in a surprisingly squeaky voice.

"Greeting I'm Mr.Gold, one of the new otherworlders in town. I thought I'd stop in and see what the potions sell for here." I tell them.

"Ah an otherworlder. Well I'm Korvik. And potionsss are ssimple, all common potionsss are five copper, uncommon are fifteen copper, and rare are forty copper. Unfortunately I don't have any above rare at the moment." He explained.

Nodding while looking around at the shelves of potions I ask. "And if I were to buy in bulk? Say all common potions. What would that come out to?"

"Hmm, I sshould've known you were a businessssman with your name, and being a kobold. Bulk I can drop down to three copper if you're buying forty or more common potionsss. If you want to buy all my common potionsss at that price it will come out to three ssilver and ssixty copper. Unfortunately we weren't informed that you otherworldersss were arriving today, sso I couldn't expand my sshop." He told me.

It would definitely be worth it, even if we only sold them for 4 gold we would still earn a silver and twenty copper. But since he's claiming to not have extra stock we could pump the price up and make so much more.

"Very well, I'll be back later today to buy your full stock of common potions." I inform him before leaving. As I'm headed out I send Kevin a pm explaining most of it and telling him to meet me at the tavern.

He soon arrived jogging down the middle of the street with two of his guild officers with me. One of which looks excited, but of course she is. Lena always get worked up when thinking about making money, even though she refuses to play anything but an archer type class. And as expected as soon as they get to me she starts talking.

"Hey Gold, so Shadow explained a bit about the potion idea. How much do you think we can make? Is it a lot? Think I could get a new both with the money? I would love a new bow, and arrows, and maybe some armor too!"

"Lena calm down sheesh. Let the man speak already." Kevin said to her while the other officer, who I don't know, snickered in the background.

"This is a pretty good opportunity. We buy his full stock for three silver and sixty copper and then set up outside the goblin dungeon and sell them for eight copper each. Bringing in nine silver and sixty copper, so we earn exactly six silver in profit. I figure since your guild will be funding this we will give you back five silver and sixty copper leaving my guild with the other four silver since we will have to actually sell it." I explain to them.

"I don't know man. Silver is really valuable early game and we aren't getting that much back." Kevin says while nodding to himself.

I just stare at him for a full minute while he gets nervous and starts shuffling his feet.

"Look I'm just sa.." He starts again before I cut him off.

"Bro your trying to swindle someone who swindles people for a living. It ain't going to work. With how many members you guys have, you don't even need to work to get the silver for this. Just pool some of your starting copper and let my team do all the work and you get a return of two silver for doing nothing. But fine I'll sweeten the pot. After I buy his stock I'm going to setup an agreement with the shop owner to buy any common potions he makes everyday for the same price. Then we will give your guild half of them so you guys have some for diving the dungeons. It's going to cut our earnings in half but we will still be bringing in profit since we will bump the price again after today to nine copper each." I tell him.

"Yeah that makes sense." He says while his shoulders sag a bit.

Knowing how to get his spirit raised I ask. "So you guys found that elite?" Sure enough he immediately stood up straighter.

"Oh yeah. We think it's about three quarters of the way to evolving already, just based on its size. I have ten of my guys always near it to make sure no one try's to take it out. The experience is going to be so damn good for us."

"Hell yeah it is. Hopefully it drops some decent loot, and if not we just sell the junk to a blacksmith anyways." I say with a chuckle.

"Yeah, alright man I'm gonna go get that silver for you. I'll meet you back here in an hour." He says as they start leaving, Lena waving wildly at me.

Waving back with a slight smile, I open my pms and send a message to all of my team asking if they found anything interesting while also telling them of my upcoming deal with the potion shop.
