It was midnight. After leaving the portal, the silver cat followed the faint trail of blood left by its target. The trail led it to the lower district, stopping near a small shop, the same one where Rowen had once found the Shade. Earlier that afternoon, it had scouted the area, but seeing the shop closed and unwilling to draw attention, it chose to wait until nightfall before taking action.
Now, under the pale glow of the moon, the cat crouched silently in the shadows, its eyes fixed on the door. The blood trail ended here. Though its strength outside the portal was restricted to that of a mere trainee, it remained confident. Judging by the state of the blood, its target was already weakened; finishing the job shouldn't be difficult.
