Chapter 83 - Chapter 83: Naive Cagalli

Mikazuki Augus stood on Gundam Barbatos's shoulder, looking at the distant burning city. Natarle Badgiruel and others drove up, looking up and shouting:

"Mikazuki Augus, how are things?"

Mikazuki Augus jumped down, put on his coat, and said lightly beside Natarle Badgiruel:

"They retreated."

"Retreated?"

Natarle Badgiruel looked at the towering inferno before her, her willow brows tightly furrowed. There probably weren't many survivors in this Hanwu Kingdom.

"Hmm, they ran as soon as we arrived, but..."

Natarle Badgiruel heard Mikazuki Augus's pause and saw him looking to the left.

"What's wrong?"

"Go see for yourself."

Natarle Badgiruel frowned, went back to the car, and picked up the walkie-talkie to connect with the Air Superiority Fighter circling in the sky.

"Major Mwu La Fllaga, have you found anything to the southwest?"

Mu La Fllaga and the Eighth Fleet had rendezvoused, and he, Murrue Ramius, Natarle Badgiruel, and the others had all received a promotion in rank.

After more than ten seconds, Mu La Fllaga replied:

"...Yes, they are civilians, successful evacuees, and quite a lot of them..."

Xibu, the distracted leader of the Dawn Desert, heard this and quickly snatched the walkie-talkie.

"Are you serious?"

"Yes, right at your location, about three kilometers to the left."

Xibu directly threw away the walkie-talkie, calling everyone to the spot indicated by Mu La Fllaga. Mikazuki Augus returned to Gundam Barbatos, piloting Gundam Barbatos to follow along.

Upon arriving at the spot Mu La Fllaga mentioned, they indeed saw a large group of people gathered, old people, children, women, and so on.

"Dad!"

"Child!"

Several children in the crowd rushed out and embraced some of the men from the Dawn Desert. Apparently, they were relatives of the Dawn Desert members.

Seeing their loved ones safe and sound, the members shed tears of joy. Xibu remained relatively calm, instructing members to bandage the wounded. He became emotional when he saw a crutch-wielding Elder leading the survivors, and a boy beside him who looked very much like him.

Cagalli Yula Athha, who was behind them, was also very happy to see the two.

"Elder! Alu! That's great, are you alright?"

"Cagalli Yula Athha, Dad."

Xibu hurried over, stopping before the Elder and his son.

"Are you alright, Alu? Where are Mom and Nia?"

"Nia fell when we were escaping to Shamsherli, and Mom is with him."

Only then did Xibu smile. Alu suppressed his joy at reuniting with his father, but when a large hand rubbed his head, he finally couldn't hold back his tears.

Xibu rubbed his son's head and looked at the Elder.

"How great is the loss?"

The Elder seemed to have weathered many storms, appearing very calm in this situation, and said in a deep voice:

"No one died."

Everyone was startled. The Elder continued:

"Initially, Desert Tiger issued a warning, saying he would burn down the city and telling us to flee quickly."

Xibu's pupils contracted.

"How could that be..."

The Elder continued:

"After we all ran out of town, Desert Tiger began the attack, destroying the entire city. All food, ammunition, and fuel were gone."

"Although no one died, we have nothing left. How are we supposed to survive now?"

Even the Elder, who had seen many storms, felt very helpless facing such a situation of depleted supplies. After all, so many people behind them needed to eat, and this was a desert.

Xibu squeezed out words one by one from between his teeth:

"Desert Tiger... what exactly does that bastard Andrew Waltfeld want to do..."

"As long as people are alive, there will always be a way."

Mu La Fllaga, who had just landed, came out and said:

"It seems the Tiger didn't intend to fight at that time."

Xibu asked, puzzled:

"What do you mean?"

"Last night's retaliation, you helped us but ruined their plans. To end it here with just this small price, that Tiger is truly merciful."

As soon as Mu La Fllaga's words left his mouth, Cagalli Yula Athha stepped forward displeased, rushing up to Mu La Fllaga.

"What did you say? This small price? Our homes are burnt down, and you call this a small price? Can someone who does such a thing still be called merciful?"

A drop of cold sweat appeared on Mu La Fllaga's forehead. He didn't expect this girl to be so agitated, and quickly apologized:

"I'm sorry, if I offended you, I apologize..."

"There's nothing to apologize for, you weren't wrong."

"What?"

Cagalli Yula Athha glared at Mikazuki Augus, who was walking over, and then turned her矛头 towards him, rushing forward to grab Mikazuki Augus's collar, making Mikazuki Augus stand on his tiptoes due to the height difference.

"Do you also think he's merciful? Destroying so many people's homes..."

Mikazuki Augus shook off Cagalli Yula Athha's hand, looking displeased at this foolish girl. Is being tall so great?

"Then what do you think is more important, death or a destroyed home?"

"Uh..."

Mikazuki Augus stared at her coldly, and said faintly:

"Do you still not understand what you're doing right now? You are the Resistance, right? Since you aimed your weapons at them and made a posture for war, you should have long been prepared to pay the price of countless lives."

"Since they are enemies, what's wrong with them attacking your stronghold?"

"Or do you naively believe that so-called war means you can bully others at will, but others cannot bully you?" Cagalli Yula Athha retreated again and again from Mikazuki Augus's words. A long-haired man behind her supported her, his eyes flashing with a sharp gaze as he watched Mikazuki Augus.

This young man... is not simple. Perhaps he can give them a good lesson...

Cagalli Yula Athha whispered:

"I didn't..."

"I really don't understand how someone like you has lived until now. Know your place."

Mikazuki Augus dropped these words and then left.
