Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: The Fury of the Pursuer

The broken walls of the ruins were still smoking, and Zhao Kun's mecha boots crushed a hot chip - that was the energy core fragment of IronGuard 7, still bearing the psychic burn marks of Feng Hao's mechanical arm. In the wreckage of the surveillance screen, the taillights of the patrol car were turning into a little red dot, dancing at the end of the wasteland like a provocative eye.

"Feng Zhan's seed is just as disgusting as his father." Zhao Kun's mechanical prosthetic eye suddenly glowed red, and the knuckles were pinched pale. On the holographic projection of the console, the image of the mecha dancing was playing in a loop. Three Iron Guard No. 5 were spinning like clowns, and the moment the electromagnetic cannon pierced through the energy shield of his companion, he smashed it into snowflakes with his spiritual energy.

Lei Li stood in the ashes of the talisman paper, and the crushed Qingxiao Talisman condensed into blood beads in the palm of his hand. The hem of the old Taoist's robe was still stained with spiritual glue, which was Qin Tieluo's "junk gift", now giving off a sour smell and corroding the embroidered runes he was proud of. "The Qingxiao Pavilion has been established for three hundred years and has never suffered such humiliation." He suddenly raised his hand, and the dust was drawn towards the trembling disciple beside him. "You can't even see the talisman paper. What use are you?"

The talisman in the disciple's arms suddenly spontaneously burned without a wind, and the ashes formed a crooked smiling face in mid-air - it was Chen Mohen's work. Lei Li's pupils suddenly constricted, and within the lines of the smiley face were the data flow symbols of the previous era, exactly the same as the fragments he had secretly hidden. He clenched his fist, and the blood drops fell on the ashes, making a "sizzle" sound.

"Hunt mode activated." Zhao Kun's voice suddenly turned as cold as a mecha engine. He pressed the red button on the console, and the ground of the ruins cracked with a sound. Dozens of Tiewei V aircraft rushed out of the underground cabin, the searchlights of the shoulder armor wove a web of light over the wasteland, and the blue light from the electromagnetic gun muzzles formed a river, surging in the direction where the patrol car had disappeared.

A sudden surge of thunderous dust turned into a streak of red light and wrapped around the gun barrel of the leading mecha. "My 'Soul Locking Talisman' will expose their psychic powers." He sneered at Zhao Kun, "Even if they hide in the center of the earth, I can still pull them out."

Zhao Kun didn't respond. He just stared at the red dot on the holographic map. It was the miniature tracker he had buried in Feng Hao's robotic arm, which was implanted in the mechanical prostheses of Feng's descendants when Feng Zhan surrendered - he intended to use it to keep an eye on Feng Hao, but it turned out to be the key to the hunt. "Five kilometers." "Bite them in three minutes," he whispered.

In the cabin of the patrol car, Feng Hao's robotic arm suddenly stung. He pulled open his collar, and the tassel of his sword was giving off a bluish-purple glow, and the copper wire on the tassel was tangled up as if resisting some kind of pursuit. "They're catching up." He tapped the roof. "Yan Yuanxiu, how many can you see?"

The screen of the vehicle terminal suddenly lit up, and Yan's data stream formed a row of numbers: "Thirty-seven. The gun barrel of the leading mecha was wrapped in red light, and talismans were tracking." A map of the wasteland popped up on the screen at the same time, with the Spirit Vein Turbulence zone marked in a glaring orange-red, "passing through there might interfere with the signal."

Lin Banxia's mixture swirled violently in the potion bottle, and the pale golden liquid splashed onto the bottle wall, reflecting the contours of the pursuers. "My father's notes say that the random flow of the spirit vein will disable the talisman paper, but it will also make the mechanical arm's spirit energy unstable." She handed the potion bottle to Feng Hao, "The mixture can temporarily neutralize the turbulence, but it requires your psychic power to activate."

On the roof of the car, Chen Mohen suddenly laughed. He folded the last few pieces of talisman paper into paper planes and threw them backward with the wind. "Add some seasoning to them!" The paper planes exploded in mid-air, transformed into a swarm of light butterflies, and crashed into the chasing searchlights, instantly creating a gap in the light web. "Old rascals, chase slowly!"

Qin Tieluo was reinforcing the car door with the remnants of the iron lumps when suddenly the toilet seat on the remnants lifted up automatically and emitted a plume of spiritual energy smoke towards the rear. "Don't get too excited too early." He patted Feng Hao on the shoulder. "Zhao Kun's Iron Guard No. 5 has a suicide thruster. My father fell on it back then."

Before he could finish his words, a shrill sound broke through the air from afar. Three mechs, braving black smoke, charged ahead, electromagnetic shells brushed past the roof of patrol cars, and blown sand and gravel hit the Windows with a crackling sound. Feng Hao looked at the approaching red light in the rearview mirror. Suddenly, the light of the sword spike resonated with Lin Banxia's mixture and condensed into half a map in the carriage - the center point of the vortex in the spiritual vein turbulence zone, marked with a tiny star.

"What is that?" "Lin Banxia pointed at the asterisk and asked.

Feng Hao's finger touched the star, and the sting of the mechanical arm suddenly disappeared. "I don't know." He started the car, steering hard, "but it looks like a way out."

On the wasteland, the hunting light net was getting closer and closer. Zhao Kun's Iron Guard No. 5 was already able to see the taillights of the patrol car, the thunderous dust was dancing wildly in the wind, and the red light of the Lock Spirit and Chase Soul Talisman was like a venomous snake, following the resonance of the tassel, gradually winding towards Feng Hao's mechanical arm.

The front of the patrol car was already aimed at the area of the surging orange-red spiritual vein turbulence.

The edges of the spiritual vein turbulence were as if scorched by fire, with orange-red air waves surging in the cracked gullies on the ground, licking the patrol car's tires and giving off a burnt smell. Chen Mohen clung tightly to the railing on the roof of the car, the talisman paper burned to ashes in his arms, the spiritual energy in the turbulence was disforming the structure of the talisman, and even Yan Yuanxiu's data stream began to show garbled characters.

"Hold on tight!" " Feng Hao stepped hard on the accelerator, and the moment the patrol car rushed into the air wave, his mechanical arm and Lin Banxia's mixture burst simultaneously - blue-purple psychic energy wrapped in pale golden liquid condensed into a layer of light film outside the vehicle body, blocking the turbulent corrosive air wave. But the light film was shaking violently, like a soap bubble that could burst at any moment.

Zhao Kun's group of hunting mechs followed closely, and the leading Iron Guard No. 5 crashed into the air wave, and the red light on the gun barrel suddenly dimmed. The thunderous dust swirled in the air, roaring to drive the runes: "Chase me! Turbulence won't damage your steel shells!"

But as soon as he finished speaking, the first three mechs suddenly lost control and the electromagnetic guns fired at their companions. It wasn't Chen Mohen's prank, but the psychic power in the turbulence resonated with the steel of the mechs, causing their aiming systems to go completely out of order. Zhao Kun looked at the fire on the surveillance screen, and the mechanical prosthetic hand smashed hard on the console: "Idiot! Switch to manual mode!"

In the patrol car, Yan Yuanxiu's data stream suddenly stabilized, marking an asterisk at the center of the vortex on the screen: "There is the remnant of the signal tower from the previous era, and the spiritual pulse fluctuation is the most stable." A snippet of code popped up on the screen at the same time, "Touch the tip of the tower with your sword spike and there might be a surprise."

Feng Hao touched the tassel on his chest, and the copper wire was astonishingly hot. Looking at the nearer star, he suddenly said to Lin Banxia, "I'll jump down later and you drive the car behind the tower to hide."

"No!" Lin Banxia grabbed his wrist, and the mixture condensed into beads of light in her palm. "Let's go together. My father said the key to the Chaos Protocol is' symbiosis'."

As he spoke, the patrol car had already rushed under the signal tower. It was a rusty metal frame, with the marks of a flying sword still on the top, and blue-violet light from the cables wound around the tower, resonating strongly with Feng Hao's mechanical arm. He did not hesitate any more. The mechanical arm hooked onto the tower and took Lin Banxia down from the roof.

Zhao Kun's group of mechs had already broken out of the turbulent area, and searchlights locked onto the signal tower. The thunderous dust turned into red light and shot straight at Feng Hao's back: "Let's see who can save you this time!"

Feng Hao suddenly turned around, shielded Lin Banxia behind him, and pulled off the tassel of his sword at the same time. Just a second before the red light hit him, the blade was thrown towards the spire - the copper wire and the spirit grass fiber exploded at the moment they touched the spire, and the blue-purple light spread along the cable and collided with the orange-red air waves in the turbulent area, forming a complete light gate in the air, with three words written in data stream on the lintline:

Chaos Protocol.

The scene behind the Light Gate left everyone stunned - it was a world where psychic energy and data coexisted, where robotic arms sowed seeds on the ridges of fields, talismans transformed into butterflies fluttering over rivers of data streams, Zhao Kun's father's mecha and Lei Li's flying sword were placed side by side on the altar, with the hilt and gun barrel entwined in the same spiritual vein.

"This..." This is impossible!" The thunderous dust fell to the ground. The old Taoist looked at the scene inside the Light Gate. The fragments hidden in his sleeve suddenly became hot and resonated with the Light Gate. "Psychic energy and data... They should have been sworn enemies!"

Zhao Kun's mecha suddenly went out, and a video popped up on the surveillance screen - an image of his father on his deathbed sitting under the signal tower of the previous era, with a string of swords in his hand, exactly the same as Feng Hao's chest: "Little Kun, don't be trapped by the iron law. True power is the fusion of water and fire."

The taillights of the patrol car flashed outside the turbulent area, and Qin Tieluo poked his head out and shouted, "Feng Hao! Lin Banxia! Are you going or not?"

Feng Hao looked at the world inside the Light Gate, then at Lin Banxia beside him, and suddenly laughed. He picked up the sword spikes on the ground and rewove copper wires and spiritual grass fibers in the palm of his hand. This time, the patterns contained both the spiritual energy frequency of the mechanical arm and the formula of the mixture.

"Let's go." He pulled Lin Banxia towards the patrol car. The light gate closed slowly behind him, but left an eternal light mark on the wasteland, as if inviting the one who came later.

Zhao Kun and Lei Li stood under the signal tower, watching the patrol car disappear into the night. Neither of them ordered a pursuit. The air waves in the turbulent area gradually subsided, revealing the spirit vein beneath - within that vein, there flowed a light of blue-purple and pale gold, like some ancient promise.
