"Yeah, I would prefer to cook. But I'm hungry and I don't think I will have the energy at the moment." Esmé says.
She looks up at the sky. It is true, it does look like it will rain.
Esmé felt Abigail takes her hand and lets her hand open fully, facing upward. She looks at her and saw her grinning. She raised an eyebrow, confused.
Abigail fished something from her pocket. Then, she placed Esmé's pearl necklace on her hand. "Here's your necklace, as promised. I have been your best safe keeper." She wiggled her eyebrows.
Esmé rolls her eyes. She held on the necklace and puts it on her own pocket. "Thank you."
It was a good thing that Esmé came here with the same clothes she was wearing when she fell down that stairs. The clothing she wore then was her most comfortable clothing.
They were clothes she got as a gift for herself after she came first place in one of the competition at her university. It consisted of a simple shirt with printed words of 'I have survived' with a rainbow in it and a high waist, form fitting pants.
Getting out of the hospital with this shirt on is definitely weird and a little funny, but the texture and breathability of the shirt made her forgot it for a moment.
She entered the passenger seat of Abigail's car while her best friend entered the driver's side.
The engine was turned on. Esmé placed a seatbelt on and yawns a little bit.
"Any place you want to eat lunch in?" Abigail asked, breaking the silence that had enveloped them. "Or any cravings?"
Esmé thinks about it. "Something spicy maybe? You said it will rain and the air was pretty cold."
"All right. I know a spicy ramen place?" Abigail raised an eyebrow.
"That's sound good." Esmé agrees.
Calming music came from the car radio as Abigail drove them to the ramen place she knows. To pass the time, Esmé mind goes elsewhere.
She already finished making her checklist. It is only a bit of waiting time before she can push through and begin to set her plans in motion.
As for Abigail? Esmé is not going to pull her with this insane plan of hers. She didn't need for her to help, even if she knew her best friend is more than willing to do so.
Why would she do that? Dominic already knew that Abigail hates him. If he finds out that she is helping Esmé, he might turn to Abigail first before coming for her in an act of retribution.
It is both for their own good. Esmé will do this alone for now.
If luck continues to smile and wink down upon her, then maybe one day she will admit to Abigail this crazy plan she was able to successfully pull off on her own.
Esmé will still share the fruits of whatever she had gotten with Abigail. It is mostly because she is her best friend, and the rest is because she still feels guilty by what her past self had done.
She puts her hand in her pocket, holding the pearl necklace as she closed her eyes.
As she did so, she can visualize the space. She would need to concentrate more, because it is blurry. But a little bit more time and she is greeted by land and sky that stretches as far as the eyes can see.
There is a hollow crater in front of her at the moment. It is deep, but she noticed stairs without handle bars or railings at the side. She slowly descends.
By the time she reached the bottom, she saw that there are eight steaks of water flowing down from the top and into this crater she is standing on.
It seems like this is the beginning of a lake. But the water seems to come out from nowhere. There is no mountain in any direction. But there is still water flowing down.
Only a small puddle forms and even with the flow of water, it didn't seem to add more to the middle. Since there was nothing else to see there, Esmé ascends the stairs.
Reaching the top, she looked at the direction where the steaks of water came from and there really is no mountain in any of the direction.
There are no trees, plants or grass, but there is soil. The expanse of the land looks unlimited. Esmé can't tell how far beyond the space stretches but she knows that she could probably have a tent or something to place here.
Her concentration abruptly cuts when she felt her body lurch forward back in the real world. The seat belt stops her body from moving further forwards as she heard Abigail beside her cursing up a storm.
"Stupid, reckless drivers!" Abigail cursed out loud as she pressed the horn, looking very annoyed.
Once she moved a different lane, Abigail glanced for a brief moment to Esmé. "You okay? I'm sorry for disturbing your nap with the strong press of the brakes. I forgot it would be rush hour when we left."
"It's okay. I'm fine. Are you okay?" Esmé asked back.
Abigail nods her head. "Just regular old reckless drivers being stupid while on the road. Nothing I can't handle after a few horns and curses." She paused. "Will be there for a few more minutes. Hopefully in 15. You can take another nap. I'll wake you up when we get there."
Esmé nods her head. When she puts her hand in her pocket where the pearl necklace is, it's not there anymore. She blinked her eyes. Where did it go? Did it get launched?
Before she went into a complete panic, her mind thought more about what she had seen earlier and she realized she still has access to it.
She opens her eyes and she is back on the car.
She closed her eyes and concentrated and she can see the space again.
Somehow, the pearl necklace disappeared and she could see the space if she concentrates enough. Did she absorb the necklace within her without her noticing?
