Jiang Qi felt like a heavy load had just been offloaded from his chest. He took slow and steady steps towards the pool until he reached the edge, where he stood still for a moment. His eyes followed Shen Yi, who was swimming from one end to the other, not yet noticing his presence. For a moment, Jiang Qi had thought Shen Yi had escaped again, and that thought had tightened his chest, but now that he could see him there, moving through the water, his heart calmed down instantly.
Shen Yi stopped briefly to catch his breath, and that was when his eyes fell on Jiang Qi. His gaze lingered on him for a short moment, unreadable, before he turned away and continued swimming as if he had not seen him at all. It was not long before he finally came out of the pool. Not because he was tired, nor because he had had enough, but rather because Jiang Qi standing there and watching him made it impossible for him to concentrate. Not with the turmoil inside him.
