A classmate walked right in front of me and blocked my view. By the time I looked again, she was gone. I was nervous—scared I might be rejected. But deep down, I still had hope.
I was on the rooftop when I heard footsteps echoing up the stairs. My heart jumped—and there she was. I was shaking.
"I read your letter, John," she said.
"I... I called you here because..."
I tried to speak, but the words tangled in my throat. She looked at me—with cold eyes. That's when I knew. It was probably over. But still... I had to say it.
"I like you! Go out with me!"
I bowed deeply. I knew it was risky. Maybe foolish. Maybe the whole school would talk. But for me... it was everything.
"Sure, why not," she said calmly.
"I get it... It's... Wait, WHAT!!" shocked, like
really shocked.
"You heard me! I say okay," she smiles.
"Oh gosh! OH GOSH!! Is this really happening? Is this a dream?" talking to my consciousness.
"So like we're officially right??" bout to my self.
"yup it officially" she smiles.
I was happy... no, overjoyed! , like finishing a game on impossible mode with no cheat codes. We exchanged LINE accounts, and then said our goodbyes. I hopped away like a kangaroo, singing:
"We're finally official, we're finally official!"
But mid-song—TRAGEDY. I didn't see the signal. I wasn't paying attention. A truck. Impact. People screamed. They gathered, calling for help.I was bleeding... badly. And in that dizzy haze, I asked myself:
"Is this it? Is this where my life ends? I want to be with Suchi… please."
A light shining in my eyes; is it God?
"Do you want a second chance to live, my child?"
"Yes, I want to be with Suchi and my family together," I said to the light.
"I'll grant you this, but there is a cost: you'll meet five girls in your life, and you have to marry one of them."
