Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: New Profession Unlocked

The street was bustling, and the people were coming and going, presenting a lively scene.

Even though the area around Ding County was unstable, the people still needed to live, hustling every day for oil, salt, sauce, and vinegar.

Qin An and Chen Chun walked down the street.

Chen Chun glanced at Qin An from time to time, wanting to speak but not knowing how to start.

Qin An glanced at Chen Chun and said, "If you have something to say, just say it."

Chen Chun snapped out of it and said, "Our situation is critical now, is it alright to swagger down the street like this?"

Currently, there are monster factions watching, and the authorities wish he would just die right away. Although Qin An had acted yesterday, causing Feiyun Gorge to fall apart, the remaining two monster factions were not easy to deal with either.

Given the situation and here they were strolling on the street, Chen Chun felt Qin An's idea was somewhat absurd.

Qin An nodded and said, "Balance between work and rest."

Chen Chun almost spat out old blood.

He wanted to say that the monster factions were not "work," and they were not in "rest" now.

But recalling Qin An's calm face when he slew Elite Eagle yesterday, Chen Chun found himself unable to speak.

A commotion arose not far away, and many people gathered to watch the excitement.

Soon after, the crowd dispersed with a loud noise, as if they had seen something as foul as maggots.

Qin An frowned and looked in the direction of the sound, seeing several commoners in coarse clothes falling to the ground.

A dozen constables were surrounding the commoners, kicking them randomly.

While kicking, they were cursing.

"Can't pay your dues and still want to dance? Mr. Wang merely has taken a liking to your daughter, yet you don't know how to appreciate it."

"Being favored is your good fortune, you should be grateful, yet you dare to bite the official."

"Beat them, beat them hard."

Mr. Wang took a handkerchief from the side, wiped the blood from his palm, and looked grim.

A frail-looking girl with yellow hair had a swollen right cheek, lying on the ground and crying in pain.

The others were holding their heads, just hoping to protect their vital parts, begging for mercy incessantly.

In Ding County, the authorities bullying the people had become a norm; the surrounding commoners kept their heads down, not daring to look, nor was there anyone daring to stand up and stop it.

Seeing this, Qin An walked over.

Chen Chun was slightly startled and followed behind Qin An.

After what happened yesterday, he knew his identity was already exposed, both sides almost laying bare their identities.

Now walking up to Mr. Wang was no big deal.

Mr. Wang was in a good mood.

Last night, Elite Eagle went to where Qin An was, and he speculated that today's Qin An was already a corpse, so he personally led people to patrol the streets.

Seeing a beautiful woman among these dancers, he harbored evil intentions.

But unexpectedly, he was bitten by this girl, inciting his wrath.

"Beat them crippled and take away this yellow-haired girl, reward them with some silver coins." Mr. Wang wiped his fat.

A voice suddenly rang out.

"Mr. Wang, why get so angry?"

Mr. Wang instinctively turned and said, "Who dares to meddle in my affairs?"

The next words reached his lips, but he couldn't utter them.

Mr. Wang's expression changed from confusion to surprise, and finally, to fear.

"You, you, you... you're not dead?"

Qin An raised an eyebrow and said, "Last night a large eagle flew into my house, and I roasted it casually. That feathered beast dared to harm people, seeking its own death."

Feathered beast?

Mr. Wang's body hair stood on end, and he quickly ran toward the back of the street, caring for nothing.

He was afraid of dying.

He knew exactly what Qin An's words implied.

Elite Eagle was likely dead, killed by Qin An, and maybe roasted as well.

Although in the bustling city, he assumed Qin An wouldn't dare to act, but once the fear of death set in, he couldn't control his legs.

The dozen or so constables looked at Qin An as if they had seen a ghost, and after Mr. Wang ran off, they dared not linger and quickly followed suit.

This scene was witnessed by the surrounding commoners, many of whom were puzzled.

Several commoners who recognized Qin An were even more baffled.

How did the butcher, usually oppressed alongside them by the authorities, manage to scare Mr. Wang off today?

Qin An walked closer, squatted down, and picked up a book scattered on the ground.

It was a dance book.

There were quite a few dancer troupes like this in Daqian, not only with female dancers but male dancers were also quite common.

They were like performers, making a living by dancing.

In some bustling cities, dancers even lived quite well.

After scaring off Mr. Wang, the dancers struggled to get up.

Though they had injuries, their gaze toward Qin An was filled with fear.

Qin An thought for a moment and left some silver coins: "I'll buy this book."

With that said, Qin An got up and walked toward home.

Dancers were known for their dance; male dancers had robust and powerful moves with agile steps.

Qin An happened to be starting a new profession and needed something compatible with the Bluebird Leap Body Technique, and weren't dancers just what he needed?

With the path to a new profession unfolding, Qin An decided not to continue shopping and planned to go back and try to start the new profession.

Chen Chun caught up and asked, "Leaving just like that?"

Qin An replied, "Cut him down on the street?"

Chen Chun shook his head and said, "I thought you were always reckless."

Qin An, without turning his head, said, "That only exists in storybooks."

Chen Chun turned to look at the money pouches in the dancers' hands, seeing them bulging with a considerable amount.

"Truly a strange person; he seems cold-hearted, yet when facing these weak ones, he shows enough sympathy."

...

Before heading home, Qin An and Chen Chun first had some food.

"I have matters to attend to, do not disturb me."

Qin An said calmly, carrying the dancer's book, entering the room.

Chen Chun was long accustomed to Qin An's indifference, returned to his room to continue recovering from his injuries.

After entering the house, Qin An casually latched the door, opened the dancer's book, and began scrutinizing it.

With a scholar's talent, Qin An read quickly, and in no time, he had comprehended all the truths within the book.

This dancer book had relatively detailed records, including the dances performed by male dancers.

Qin An thought for a moment, then began practicing as described in the book.

For a dancer's entry-level, he only needed to learn something superficial.

At first, Qin An was clumsy.

But as time passed, Qin An's movements became increasingly agile.

In the dim light, every move of Qin An exuded a masculine aesthetic, his muscles gradually controlled to the extreme.

After a short while, a line of smoke appeared before Qin An's eyes.

[Dancer lv.1 (0/100): Your dance becomes more elegant]

It's here!

Qin An's eyes sparkled.

After such a long practice, he successfully started a new profession.

Having opened the dancer profession, Qin An couldn't contain his excitement.

At this time, it was not yet dark, and Qin An continued dancing in the house.

The proficiency started to increase slowly.

...

The authorities.

Mr. Wang drank several cups of tea in one breath before calming his fear.

His forehead was drenched in sweat, dripping down his plump chin onto the ground, but he paid no heed.

Mr. Wang smashed the cup to the ground: "Someone! Prepare a carriage for me, I'm going to the River Saber Sect!"
