Before long, James Sterling and his wife received the news and came to fetch Serena Sullivan.
They didn't care that Mrs. Sterling was an elder and scolded her thoroughly.
Usually quick to anger, Mrs. Sterling didn't dare say a word back and endured being scolded by one person after another.
After James and his wife were done, they intended to take Serena back to Deepwood.
Mr. Sterling was reluctant, feeling that his granddaughter had just returned and now she was leaving again.
He contemplated using a ploy to keep Serena there a few more days, but before he could put it into action, James saw through his intentions and mocked, "Dad, don't be reluctant. Serena won't be staying with me for long."
"Why?"
Mr. Sterling asked, wondering if she might move back to Simon Sterling's place instead.
"Ethan Grant keeps coming to my house every now and then, and we can't chase him away."
Once he came, there was bound to be a second time.
