"Serena."
Ethan Grant carefully called out, but Serena Sullivan, lying on the bed, kept her eyes closed and did not respond.
"Serena!"
He called out louder, and Serena's eyelids fluttered open. She saw the worry in Ethan Grant's eyes and asked, "What time is it?"
Ethan sat on the bed and leaned back, then pulled Serena into his arms.
In the quiet night, they leaned against each other as he held Serena tightly.
"Aunt Ann said you've been sleeping for a long time?"
"Serena, you've been sleeping a lot lately."
Ethan said softly. He hadn't noticed anything unusual before, but just now, standing by the bed, looking at the sleeping Serena, he suddenly felt as though she might not wake up.
"I'm just tired."
Serena felt the warmth from Ethan's embrace and spoke faintly.
She lied calmly.
"Hmm." Ethan lowered his head, resting his chin on Serena's neck.
Even with Serena in his arms, he felt she was far away from him.
