"Finn." Serena Sullivan's smile deepened as she glanced at Anna, whose eyes were turning red, "Anna's drunk, take her back to rest."
Finn knew, and Serena knew even better, that some things need not be spoken.
"Be good!"
She smiled at Finn, her voice so tender and laced with laughter that it made Ethan Grant's face darken.
Serena looked up at him again, her smile vanished, and her tone was colder, "Let's go."
"Alright!"
Ethan's heart was filled with both sourness and pain. His voice, when it came out, was hoarse and deep. As he pushed Serena to the restaurant's door, without knowing what came over him, he stopped and went around to lift Serena from the wheelchair.
Serena was taken aback, not expecting him to suddenly pick her up.
Perhaps it was out of habit, or perhaps knowing that struggling was pointless, she silently let him hold her.
