Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Jean's Legs

"Indeed, Amber has always performed well." Jean nodded in approval.

Though Amber was a bit careless at times and even forgot the code of conduct on occasion, she excelled in completing her missions and had a very likable personality.

Jean continued reading and soon reached the part about Stormterror's attack on Mondstadt.

She didn't speak immediately but focused intently on the following content. Only when she saw the Traveler Lumine repel Stormterror with the help of the Anemo Archon did she finally relax.

"Thankfully, it didn't cause major trouble."

Jean let out a sigh of relief. If the citizens of Mondstadt had suffered heavy losses because of this, she wouldn't have known how to face the Grand Master.

"The Anemo Archon has returned... No, I can't let the Anemo Archon see Mondstadt in such a perilous state."

"I must arrange personnel to set up defenses in advance and minimize the damage."

After saying this, Jean put down the book and prepared to draft documents.

"Wait~ Don't be in such a hurry. Perhaps the book contains a solution to the problem?" Lisa stopped Jean.

"You're right."

Only then did Jean realize and sighed. "I'm being too impatient. The answers and the future are right in front of me."

"You're just under too much pressure, Jean. Here, have some coffee. Don't rush—we'll all help you." Lisa handed Jean the coffee.

"Thank you." Jean took the coffee and took a sip.

"By the way, did Barbara buy this book?" Jean asked.

The book revealed the Anemo Archon's return. If Barbara knew, she'd surely be overjoyed.

"Barbara? I didn't see her at the time. She was probably still praying."

Lisa tapped her chin with a finger, recalling that Barbara hadn't been among the people buying the book.

"I see. Lisa, how many copies did you buy? Can you sell me one?" Jean still wanted Barbara to read it.

If Barbara had been too busy praying to buy the book herself, Jean would just bring her a copy.

"Well, I bought quite a few. I'll give this one to Barbara later—don't worry." Lisa smiled.

In truth, she had only bought two copies: one for the library, which was already placed there, and this one for herself.

She had bought it out of curiosity about the book and hadn't known about its hidden revelations, so she hadn't purchased multiple copies.

But it didn't matter. The book wasn't only available today—it was just the first day of release. The novel would be on sale for several more days. She could give this copy to Barbara and buy another one tomorrow.

"Really? How much is the book?"

"Rather than that, let's focus on reading first. Dealing with the dragon crisis is more important, no?" Lisa avoided the question.

"Mm."

Jean could tell Lisa didn't want to discuss the price, so she didn't press further. She'd ask about it later and reimburse Lisa with her own money when paying her salary.

Clap clap—Kaeya makes his entrance!

"..." First Amber, now Kaeya?

Jean hoped the following sections would redeem the Knights of Favonius' image. Otherwise, the whole world would think the Knights had abandoned their code of conduct.

Just as Jean had hoped, the opportunity to restore the Knights' reputation arrived—her appearance.

However... the scene began with a description from the waist down.

"!?"

Jean sat up straight. This passage was way too excessive!

What did it mean by "straight legs so fair they seemed to glow"? She wasn't even showing her legs!

Of course her white pants were white! And the "glow" was just sunlight from the window, wasn't it?

She was wearing knight's leggings—why did it sound like she was wearing white stockings?

This was bad. The Knights of Favonius' image was truly ruined now.

Unbeknownst to her, many readers were into this very thing. Now they'd have no choice but to join the Knights.

"Li...Lisa, have you read the later parts?" Jean's face flushed slightly.

"Which part are you referring to?" Lisa smiled knowingly.

"J-Just the part where I appear..."

"Oh~ You mean those alluring, beautiful legs?"

As she spoke, Lisa glanced at Jean's legs and chuckled.

"How strange. I see them often and never thought much of it, but after reading that description, it does feel a bit... risqué."

Jean pressed her legs together and shifted slightly forward, hiding them under the table.

"Honestly, Lisa, stop teasing me!"

Should she really let Barbara read this book?

Though she wanted Barbara to know the Anemo Archon had returned, it would also mean Barbara seeing her like this...

It was all the author's fault! Why couldn't he write normally? She was just wearing an ordinary uniform—why did he have to make it sound so indecent?

[Content: Why did the author write me in such a suggestive way?]

Meanwhile, Lucian, who was enjoying a feast at a party, paused. Had Jean already read his novel?

Regarding Jean's complaints, Lucian could only plead innocence. After all, the original scene's camera angle had panned upward from below.

Though he had admittedly added some personal flair, intentionally making the description more suggestive.

But even if he bore 1% of the blame, didn't miHoYo deserve the remaining 99%?

So this wasn't his fault—it was miHoYo's.

Lucian contentedly enjoyed the rising emotional values.

"Lucian, you seem quite happy." Navia sat beside Lucian.

As the protagonist, Lucian occupied the seat of honor, while Navia, as the investor and his "boss," naturally sat next to him.

"I was just thinking of something pleasant."

"What is it?"

"My wi—cough I mean, I finally finished Act II, so I can take a few days off."

"Eh!? You've already finished Act II? Can I take a look!?" Charlotte's eyes sparkled.

Unlike the others, she had already bought the book and finished reading it long ago. She had been waiting for updates eagerly.

"Of course." Lucian generously took the manuscript from his Vision and handed it to Charlotte.

The others didn't react much since they hadn't even read Act I yet and thus didn't rush to read Act II.

However, Navia noticed a key detail. "Lucian, you have a Vision too? No wait, of course you do."

When she first met Lucian, he hadn't had a Vision.

The second time they met was at Lucian's home, and he hadn't been carrying his Vision then either.

So this was Navia's first time seeing Lucian's Vision—a Hydro one, it turned out.

"I only recently obtained it. Maybe the Hydro Archon favors me." Lucian smiled.

Though he knew Visions weren't directly granted by the Archons, there was no harm in boasting. No one else knew the truth anyway.

Meanwhile, after an internal struggle, Jean ultimately decided to give the book to Barbara.

It was fine if she embarrassed herself a little she just wanted Barbara to be happy.

"Alright~ Jean, let's keep reading." Lisa stopped teasing Jean.

With someone as serious as Jean, pushing too far would backfire. It was better to take it step by step—occasional teasing was more fun.

If Yae Miko and Lisa had met, they would've gotten along famously.

Suppressing her embarrassment, Jean continued reading.
