Chapter 173 - Chapter 175: Kyber Crystal Weapons and Cooperation

On the workbench sat the hollow sphere retrieved from the ruins on the planet Guderian.

After running tests, Amir had confirmed that it was a form of energy aggregate.

The total amount of energy contained within it was terrifying.

Amir estimated that if he used it to power the Traveler, even running the ship at maximum output, it would take many days to deplete.

This was a pleasant surprise.

More importantly, through an energy converter, other forms of energy could be used to stimulate the sphere, refilling this energy aggregate.

In other words, this was a battery with a terrifying capacity, capable of storing a massive amount of special energy.

Amir wasn't sure if it could replace electricity as the ship's main power source. To prevent any accidents, he didn't attempt to hook it up directly.

Just as Amir was about to set it aside again, he saw the massive Kyber crystal he had brought back from Ilum.

A bold idea appeared in Amir's mind.

He had completely mastered the principles of a lightsaber. Theoretically, making a lightsaber out of such a huge Kyber crystal wasn't impossible, but the energy consumption from the battery would increase exponentially, making it unrealistic.

Besides, no one could lift a lightsaber made of such a large stone to swing it around.

Unless Amir found a place to build a giant mech first, and then equipped it with a giant lightsaber.

But doing so wouldn't be cost-effective. The flexibility that defined a Jedi would be completely abandoned. A giant mech would just be a sitting duck under concentrated heavy fire, let alone against a fellow lightsaber user.

However, when Amir was studying lightsabers, he had discovered an interesting phenomenon.

The high-energy particle beam of a lightsaber was contained. It formed a high-energy plasma blade through a closed loop connecting the positive and negative terminals. But what would happen if he connected this energy in a different way and fired it out in a unidirectional manner?

Amir knew that the Death Star used Kyber crystals as its primary component. So, using his own Kyber crystal, could he create a powerful light cannon—similar in nature to the Death Star's superlaser, but infinitely weaker in intensity?

The most critical issue—energy—could be completely solved by this spherical energy aggregate. The rest was just a matter of engineering.

Amir was very interested in this idea and immediately sprang into action.

The principle of the design wasn't difficult. He spent two days drawing up several blueprints, made a trip to Mos Eisley to buy a large number of parts, and immediately began testing.

Milisen and 32 were going through their daily training. These days, they had an added form of entertainment: listening to the occasional loud explosions echoing from the nearby valley.

After half a day, a dusty and disheveled Amir walked back and sat down helplessly in front of them.

"What strange thing are you researching now, Amir?" Obi-Wan asked.

"A giant light cannon made with a Kyber crystal. Do you have any thoughts, Master?" Amir had tried many methods without success. Other methods were beyond what his crude facilities here could achieve.

"I remember the Jedi Temple once held a portable laser cannon that could use a lightsaber as a power source. It was an artifact excavated from some ruin. Its power was formidable, capable of melting anything it touched. The only drawback was that after a few uses, the lightsaber would melt because it couldn't withstand the load."

"Using a lightsaber as a power source . . ." Amir fell into thought again. Many things related to the Force couldn't be well explained by standard scientific knowledge, so Amir just took this as a reference point.

But it did provide Amir with a completely new train of thought.

He rushed back to work for another whole day. Amir discovered some interesting laws regarding Kyber crystals. Through constant trial and error, his ideas gradually became clear.

. . .

Early the next morning, he dialed Kahraman's communicator.

On the distant Eternal Ark space station, an Ardennian was sitting at his desk, bored, fiddling with his four arms. The communicator in front of him suddenly rang, and the holographic projection displayed Amir's image.

Seeing this, Kahraman immediately sat up straight, a smile appearing on his face.

"Amir! What made you think of contacting me? Do you have some interesting design?" Kahraman asked excitedly.

Amir feigned surprise. "How did you know that's why I was looking for you? You didn't install a camera on my Traveler, did you?"

"Hahaha, of course not! Hurry up and tell me, what new ideas do you have?"

Amir had previously discussed some mechanical issues with Kahraman. The two shared many common ideas, and Kahraman had sincerely invited Amir to visit often.

Now, the timing was perfect.

"Is the Eternal Ark doing well? I want to come over and discuss the details with you in person," Amir said. He needed Kahraman's resources and equipment.

"Of course it's good. Remember to bring Milisen and 32 when you come. My guard—what was his name again?—often mentions Milisen. And I have some new upgrades for 32!"

"Alright, we'll head over as soon as possible." Amir was also a bit impatient, wanting to test his ideas immediately.

After telling Milisen and 32, both were very happy. Milisen still kept the card that allowed her to eat for free, while 32 had a lot of goodwill toward Kahraman, who had saved him.

Amir suddenly realized that he had become the one "neglecting his proper duties" the most among these apprentices. Although he still persisted in training for a few hours every day, the time spent on mechanics was significantly more than on the Force.

However, even so, Amir's progress was rapid. Nowadays, when sparring with Obi-Wan, he could already hold his ground without losing the upper hand.

This speed made even Qui-Gon click his tongue in wonder.

In Amir's own experience, he found that his ability to perceive the Force, in particular, had unknowingly become extremely powerful. This seemed to be a process of gradual unlocking—as if the ability had always been within him, but he couldn't fully utilize it before. With time and training, it was gradually opening up to him.

Amir enjoyed this process of becoming stronger, and he was also relieved.

Because this era did not allow him the time to grow slowly. He hoped to become stronger, faster.

Including the weapons and machinery he was researching; most of them were things he considered useful for the future.

At this time, the Death Star's framework should have already been completed, and they would be constantly refining it. In less than ten years, this evil weapon that could easily destroy an entire planet would be unveiled. Amir had made up his mind to stop it before it was finished.

He had to prevent the peaceful and beautiful Alderaan and its billions of people from being turned into ash.

This time, in seeking out Kahraman—who had deep cooperation with Ahsoka—he also harbored thoughts of collaboration.

His smart tactical backpack, some designs and ideas for exoskeletons, concepts for nanotechnology, and the new weapon made of Kyber crystals that he was currently testing.

Amir could share all of these with the Resistance. With Kahraman's resources, once mass production was achieved, the impact on the war would be immense.

Take the smart tactical backpack, for example. The rarest part was just the intelligent program written by Amir. The rest were common components that could easily be mass-produced. If every soldier carried one, the Alliance would have a huge advantage in ground skirmishes against the Imperial Army.

Furthermore, according to Amir's line of thought, if Kyber crystals could be researched into new weapons and used as main cannons on capital ships, then the enemy's deflector shields would be completely useless in front of them.
