Chapter 360 - 《Harry Potter- Ravenclaw》Chapter 26: How to Get Along with Dobby?

"Harry Potter- Ravenclaw"Chapter 26: How to Get Along with Dobby?

For reasons he couldn't quite explain, Wyzett suddenly recalled something Salazar Slytherin had once said: Every action of a Guardian sends ripples across the wizarding world...

He slipped the parchment into his pocket. "Dobby, you mentioned earlier that Lucius Malfoy is a Death Eater. What exactly was his position?"

Dobby shivered, his voice barely above a whisper. "He... he was your most loyal follower."

Wyzett massaged his brow, deciding not to bother correcting Dobby's muddled understanding. "From now on, I want you to tell me everything at once—no holding back! That's an order! And you'll answer me this way from now on."

Dobby flinched, then stammered on, "Malfoy Manor... it was often where the Death Eaters gathered..."

"You... often trusted him with important tasks... kept many things... inside Malfoy Manor..."

He darted a nervous glance at Wyzett, adding, "All those Dark artifacts... gold and treasures... they were all moved to Malfoy Manor..."

"So he was a core member?" Wyzett murmured. Suddenly, he understood why Dumbledore had left that note.

If Lucius Malfoy had truly been Voldemort's right hand, then perhaps bringing the Malfoy family back onto the right path like this wasn't such a bad idea.

From what he'd learned about Voldemort lately, the Dark Lord's methods of controlling the Death Eaters were far from subtle.

It was all about ruthless domination—intimidation, manipulation, and secret deals to enforce unity and loyalty. Anyone who opposed him was met with murder, threats, or torture. That was why Voldemort's name still inspired dread.

That was the difference between Grindelwald and Voldemort: one won hearts with persuasion, the other ruled through terror and uncertainty.

The reason wizards used so many euphemisms for Voldemort was because Death Eater attacks could strike anywhere, anytime, signaled only by the sudden appearance of the Dark Mark.

This unpredictability left the wizarding world in a constant state of anxiety and fear, so much so that people still avoided saying his name—even now, those who had lived through those times would sometimes recall the terror and spread it to others without even realizing...

Wyzett returned to the present, studying Dobby more closely.

By house-elf standards, this one was certainly unusual.

Dobby hadn't blindly obeyed Lucius Malfoy—otherwise, he never would have left the manor on his own, risking everything over the so-called Chamber key.

He'd not only warned Harry Potter, but had even used magic on his own initiative, trying to "protect" Harry in his own way.

But from another angle, it was clear that Dobby possessed a rare sense of right and wrong—and a courage that set him apart from others of his kind.

That was because Lucius Malfoy had always treated Dobby as nothing more than a tool—a household appliance to be beaten or scolded at will.

Yet Dobby clearly had intelligence, emotions, and even a knack for finding loopholes to resist in his own way.

How people viewed and treated Dobby as an individual would determine the kind of choices he made.

Wyzett reached out to him, and Dobby instinctively recoiled, trembling violently.

Even so, Wyzett caught his arm and gently pulled him back onto the stool.

He let out a slow breath, his tone softening. "Dobby, how do you see yourself? What do you like?"

Dobby twisted his arm, staring at Wyzett in disbelief. "Mas... Master?"

"Tell me—don't hold anything back," Wyzett added. "What do you like? What do you think you need?"

Suddenly, Dobby shuddered, and tears spilled down his cheeks. "Never... no one has ever asked Dobby... what he likes... what he needs..."

He cried for quite a while, until embarrassment finally caught up with him and he choked back his sobs. "Mas... Master, you're not... You-Know-Who, are you?"

When Wyzett didn't answer, Dobby went on, "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named... he was cruel... terrifying..."

"But you're not like that... you even let me cry for so long... When Dobby was with the Malfoys, if I had nothing to do... they'd make me punish myself..."

Wyzett replied quietly, "But now you're here with me."

Tears welled up again, but this time Dobby calmed himself quickly, and his voice was steady. "Master, I like to work—but I also want to wear clothes, and I want freedom!"

Just as he'd expected.

Wyzett nodded. Compared to most house-elves, Dobby's greatest wish was to become more like a person.

Which meant getting along with him would be simple—Wyzett wouldn't need to change much at all.

With that in mind, Wyzett said, "From now on, don't call me 'Master.' Just use my name—Wyzett. And for my family, call them Luna and Mr. Lovegood."

Dobby nodded eagerly, stumbling over the words. "Yes... Ma—Wyzett..."

"You like to work, you want to wear clothes, and you want freedom," Wyzett continued. "So you'll work for me, and I'll pay you wages."

"You can buy your own clothes, and I'll make sure you get holidays—regular ones and sick leave, too. Does that sound alright?"

"Ma... Wyzett..." Dobby took a deep breath, his wide eyes shining with wonder and disbelief. "I'm not dreaming, am I? Even in my dreams, I'd never dare hope for this..."

Wyzett went on, "But that's as far as it goes between us. Because of your past behavior, I don't fully trust you yet—I want to be clear about that."

"I'll always be honest with you about how I feel. And I expect you to do the same—if anything involves other people, I need you to tell me."

"It's simple, really. Like when Lucius Malfoy brought out the so-called Chamber key, and you worried about Harry's safety and wanted to help—you must let me know first."

He pulled out his school robe and placed it in front of Dobby. "If you can't do that... well, I know that giving you a piece of clothing means you'd truly be free..."

Before he could finish, Dobby leapt back as if shocked, shaking his head furiously. "No clothes! Dobby wants to work here!"

"Great Ma—Wyzett! They'd never treat Dobby like this... never pay Dobby... never give Dobby holidays... never let Dobby have what he wants!"

"Dobby wants to stay here! Dobby will prove himself! Dobby promises he'll never let the great Wyzett down! Dobby doesn't want clothes!"

"Alright then." Wyzett nodded. "Welcome aboard, Dobby… Now, let's talk about your wages."
