"Harry Potter- Ravenclaw"Chapter 152: Salazar Slytherin in the Books
Percy was gasping for breath, his words coming out in broken bursts. "Pro... Professor McGonagall..."
Penelope quickly caught her breath and finished for him, "Something's happened! Out there—in the corridor outside the Great Hall!"
Dumbledore stroked his beard thoughtfully. "Filius, would you please check the place Wyzett mentioned?"
"Of course!" Flitwick hopped down from his chair, drew his wand, and with a quick tap of his foot, shot off down the hall like a whirlwind.
Snape cast a sidelong glance at Wyzett, lips pursed as if he wanted to say something. In the end, he simply followed Flitwick out at a brisk pace.
Dumbledore turned to Wyzett. "Wyzett, come along with us, but rejoin your house first."
He led the professors out of the Great Hall, following the prefects into the packed corridor.
The prefects called out, and the crowd quickly parted, opening a path for Dumbledore and the staff.
The Ravenclaw group stood toward the back, the distant wall shrouded in shadow.
Wyzett slipped into the Ravenclaw ranks, surrounded by the Quidditch team.
He maintained his Custodis Meditatio (Guardian's Meditation), straining to catch even a trace of that cold, venomous voice.
"Thank goodness you're alright," Cho Chang said quietly beside him. "Where did you guys go just now?"
"We lingered in the Great Hall for a bit," Wyzett replied, eyes flicking to the noisy crowd ahead. "What happened?"
"We're at the back, so we couldn't see much," Cho said. "But we saw Filch rush to the front."
"Then, after a while, Filch started shouting that Harry Potter had killed his Mrs. Norris—and then you all arrived."
"There's writing on the wall..." Wyzett narrowed his eyes, raised his wand to his eyelid, and whispered, "Nox Perspicax!"
Thanks to the night vision charm, the words became clear: "The Chamber has been opened. Enemies of the Heir, beware."
Hearing this, Cho Chang frowned. "The Chamber? Isn't that just a story?"
Roger Davies chimed in, "Slytherin believes it's real. But A History of Magic never mentions any Chamber."
Jason Samuels added, "Neither does Medieval Wizards—there's nothing about this in there."
Duncan Inglebee offered a different view. "But if Slytherin believed it so deeply, there must be something to it."
Noticing Luna's curious gaze, Wyzett explained, "According to The Medieval Wizard's Guide, when Hogwarts was founded, the four founders got along quite well."
"But then the Witch Hunts began. Life for wizards grew harder, and Salazar Slytherin became increasingly distrustful of Muggles."
"As the Witch Hunts escalated, Slytherin's suspicions deepened—even wizards from Muggle families seemed untrustworthy to him."
"In his later years, Slytherin believed that only pure-blood wizarding families should receive Hogwarts letters. He thought it was the only way to keep the school safe."
"After all, Muggle-born students still had Muggle parents and relatives. During the Witch Hunts, they could easily be swayed or betray their own kind."
"That's why Slytherin's disagreements with the other founders grew worse, until he finally had a huge row with Godric Gryffindor—and left Hogwarts for good."
Jeremy Stretton shrugged. "Given the times, Slytherin might have had a point..."
"Kids are defenseless compared to adult wizards—they could really be burned alive..."
"If you admit too many Muggle-borns, it's not unthinkable that a few might turn traitor."
Cho Chang picked up the thread. "And now comes the legendary part."
"According to Hogwarts: A History, before leaving, Slytherin secretly built a chamber, hidden from the other founders."
"The legend says something is hidden inside. When Slytherin's true heir returns, they'll fulfill his vision—purging Hogwarts of Muggle-borns."
Whatever was in the Chamber, it had to be Salazar Slytherin's pet...
Wyzett had pored over books like The Medieval Wizard's Guide and Hogwarts: A History for one reason: to search for Slytherin's legendary companion.
All the information he'd gathered matched what Cho and the others were saying. The four founders split over their differences, ending with Slytherin's departure.
In the Mirror World, Slytherin himself had mentioned his pet was still alive—still carrying out its ancient duty.
Hogwarts had stood for over a thousand years. What sort of creature could survive so long, still obeying its master's will?
But with the powers of a Guardian and the mysteries of Ancient Magic, it all began to make sense.
Wyzett himself was tending a Mandrake with Ancient Magic. If magical plants could absorb such power, surely Slytherin's pet could as well.
That's why Wyzett kept storing up his strength, determined to master more magic—to be ready when he finally faced Slytherin's monster.
Even a lion uses all its strength to hunt a rabbit. And what Wyzett would face was no rabbit—it was a creature that had survived for a millennium, nourished by Ancient Magic.
As he pondered, Luna's airy voice sounded in his ear. "I don't know what you're about to face, but whatever it is, I'll be with you."
Wyzett turned and met her bright, earnest eyes. He smiled gently. "Don't worry."
Suddenly, Filch's voice rang out, wild and grief-stricken. "They're all murderers! They killed Mrs. Norris!"
Dumbledore cradled Mrs. Norris in his arms. "Filch, please calm yourself. Things aren't as bad as they seem."
Wyzett glanced at the cat—her body was stiff as a board, not even breathing.
He barely had time to activate his Oculus Magicae before Lockhart blocked his view.
Lockhart sidled up to Dumbledore, cheerfully pointing the way. "Yes, right up here..."
Harry and his friends walked in the middle, sweat beading their anxious faces.
Filch trailed behind, face streaked with tears—or was it sweat?
Professor McGonagall and Professor Sprout brought up the rear, while the other professors slipped away down the corridor, not following Dumbledore's group...
