An arrow was shot clean through the narrow gap between our faces with smooth precision. Both Feichen and I immediately looked to the side and we saw multiple heavily armed soldiers approaching rapidly from all directions.
The Royal fucking Guard! Talk about perfect timing!
I managed to give Feichen a pained but triumphant smile despite the situation. "You were saying something about this being my last moment?"
Feichen smashed my face brutally onto the hard ground in pure frustration. Have you ever had your face violently smashed into the ground with that much force? If you have, you'd know exactly how fucking painful it actually is. It's not like getting punched, it's way worse. You don't even see black, which would be the logical color to see as you lose your vision for a few seconds. Instead, you see bright white. Like your brain just can't process what happened and shows you the exact opposite. It's otherworldly fuckin' painful!
There I was, lying face-down on the ground, desperately trying to get back into my senses as my vision slowly returned to me in a gradual blur. Everything was spinning and my head was pounding.
I could barely make out King Cangyuan walking towards us confidently as he spoke with authority, "Last chance, Feichen. Surrender yourself peacefully."
"I wanted this whole thing to be done without any hassle," Feichen said, breathing heavily. "But you know what? Fuck it. You guys deserve the bloodshed that's coming."
He deliberately let the Royal Guard soldiers surround him in a circle as he began concentrating his qi once again.
Then the real fight began. My vision almost completely cleared up as I looked at the total chaos unfolding before me. The soldiers were really impressively well-coordinated, with them being able to land a few solid hits on Feichen right from the start. These weren't regular guards, these were elite fighters.
I painfully dragged myself behind a nearby pile of rubble created from Jian and Liangyu's broken tree roots, trying to protect myself from the crossfire. Don't expect me to do anything heroic here. I was completely immobile from the waist down. There was literally nothing I could do other than wait and watch and pray we'd survive.
I could hear the constant clings of swords clashing against each other and the anguished screams of soldiers as they kept fighting Feichen for what felt like forever. Nearly an entire hour passed.
I honestly couldn't tell you what was more impressive at that point. Was it that the Royal Guard was somehow able to fight a Supreme Being for sixty whole minutes? Or was it that Feichen was able to hold his own against fifty elite soldiers for the same amount of time, while being in a significantly weakened state at that too? Both seemed equally impossible.
Slowly and gradually, I could hear the chaos getting more and more silent. Each soldier was falling one by one as Feichen was steadily gaining the upper hand despite his injuries. The screams became less frequent.
I kept desperately praying for some kind of miracle to take place and somehow save us from the inevitable wrath of this monster. Some divine intervention or something.
I looked around in the darkness and saw Jian and Liangyu still lying unconscious where they'd fallen. I took a small stone from nearby and threw it at Liangyu's head. No response at all. I did the same thing to Jian. Still no response whatsoever. They were out cold. I looked up to the sky and closed my eyes in desperation. "Please God, if you're listening, send me a savior," I muttered to myself quietly.
Then I lowered my head and slowly opened my eyes again, and guess who I saw crouching right in front of me at a distance.
Qinyue!
Fuck yeah, baby! She approached me quietly, putting a finger on her lips to shush me from screaming in excitement and giving away her position. She came closer and I whispered urgently, "It's nice to see you, but what are you doing here?! You were supposed to be at the armory-"
"I got that situation completely covered," she interrupted confidently. "Why aren't you helping them fight? Too scared to face him?"
"The guy literally paralyzed me from the waist down with his strikes," I hissed. "He did the exact same thing to both Jian and Liangyu. They're unconscious." I pointed towards their motionless bodies.
She looked over at Liangyu and immediately started crawling towards him carefully, staying low.
"Hey! It's completely useless! I already tried waking them up!" I whispered as she kept crawling and reached him. She held him firmly and dragged him towards me quickly but quietly. She then did the exact same thing with Jian, pulling him over.
"Alright, they're relatively safe from the crossfire now, but now what?" I asked, confused about her plan.
She then bent down close towards Liangyu's ear and whispered his name softly, "Liangyu."
The perverted fuck woke up in a split second like she'd given him the breath of life! He breathed heavily and erratically as he looked around frantically and started processing what the hell was happening.
"That's how you do it," she said, looking at me smugly.
"Fuck off. Now what about Jian?" I asked.
She gave Jian a tight slap across his face and it was more than enough to snap him out of his unconscious state immediately.
"I still can't move my legs at all!" Liangyu said desperately as he tried getting up and failed.
"Yeah, I guess the paralysis effects stay terribly long, or maybe it can only be reversed by Feichen himself," I said grimly.
"What the hell do we do now then?" Jian asked, panicking.
The battlefield got significantly more silent now. I could literally count the number of soldiers still left standing. Ten, then seven, then four within minutes. Finally, the last one seemed to fall with a sickening thud. We could only hear Feichen panting heavily, still standing.
"Maybe Qinyue can hold him off for a little while with her fire techniques, but that's it," I said defeatedly. "I guess we're done now. We tried."
"You think I came here all alone?" Qinyue said mysteriously as she looked around at Jian and Liangyu. "I think it's time to finally use our trump card."
