Luis felt a little guilty.
Lily licked her lips and said, "I think tonight, Mom was the most beautiful and stunning she's been in all these years."
She sighed with considerable emotion. "Mom has had a very hard time these past few years. She might be a bit short-tempered, but I know how much pressure she's under... and how unsatisfying her life has been."
Then Lily stuck out her tongue playfully and said, "Little sister was okay, but big sister and I had absolutely terrible academic records. From childhood until now, that's one area where she's never been happy."
"Mom wasn't good to you before, but it was all a misunderstanding. Husband, I'm so happy you don't hold a grudge."
"My heart isn't that small. Besides, I married into your family for you. Of course I need to be a proper part of the household."
Luis held her hand tighter and smiled a understanding smile.
