Chapter 53 - Sword Duel

Stepping out of the dark cave of the Beast's Heavenly Abyss, the day dawned and the view opened up before me.

The gentle warm breeze seemed to blow into the heart. The crisp chirping of birds, the clamor of the rising sun in the morning. The shrubbery, with its rippling waves and its lush green shadows, is full of vitality in the morning light. The fresh earthy scent, mingled with the fragrance of flowers and grass, wafts quietly and fills the nostrils.

The two of them unconsciously stood in the air in this vast wilderness, quietly closing their eyes to rest and peacefully enjoying the essence of heaven and earth. Jiu Ling was overjoyed to see the darkness deep in the woods. It was a fleeting shadow, rustling and vanishing into the woods.

"Kellen, do you know where the Fire Spirits are?" Elara first opened her beautiful big eyes, bright and radiant, looking into the distance as if searching for the Fire Spirits.

Kellen, upon hearing Elara's sweet call, opened her eyes too. Looking far and wide, the sky was blue and the clouds were cotton. Occasionally, flocks of birds soar into the sky, chirping, and then rush towards the cloud on the horizon.

Kellen was overjoyed and looked back at Elara. A pretty face, in the glow of the rising sun, was like a coat of gold powder, painted by the sky. In her watery eyes, there was a deep affection. The slender and graceful figure is even more captivating. Skin as smooth as cream, fingers as green as jade. With her hands behind her back, she stands in the air, as if she were standing tall and straight, graceful and elegant. Like a fairy, like a goddess. Standing tall and proud, beyond the mundane.

"Kellen, what shall I ask you?" Elara, who had been so embarrassed by Kellen's dull gaze, blushed to the bottom of her ears and whispered to her.

"What?" Kellen stammered. "Oh, where are the Fire Spirits? It seems I heard them say when I was a child that they are very far from the water spirits and closest to the Gold Spirits. Look over there..."

Elara raised her eyes and gazed into the distance as Kellen pointed. Looking through vast stretches of lush forests and over a vast expanse of fertile yellow earth, he finally caught sight of the continuous, jarring glaciers. "Is that the glacier?" said softly.

Kellen said, "Yes, that should be the place of the Golden Spirit. Beyond the Golden Ridge Mountains lies the home of the Fire Spirits. Although I have never been there in my life, logically speaking, it must be right."

Elara sighed slightly, "It seems this journey is really long?"

Kellen laughed, "It doesn 't matter, with Nine Spirits here, not afraid."

That night, the wind and the spirit, along with the wounded, sat on the back of the Nine Spirits, through the stars and the moon, to the junction of the three spirits of gold, wood and Earth.

The junction of gold, wood and Earth is in the wilderness, with a mixture of glaciers, hills and trees, and the terrain is extremely uneven. Relatively speaking, the road is difficult to travel on. The moonlight is quiet and the body is tired. It is a good time for practice. So the two of them decided to find an inn to stay for the night, not for any other reason, but fearing that the wounded might not be able to bear the burden, to let them rest for the time being.

The next morning, the wind was light, the clouds were sparse, and the sun was clear.

A quiet poplar forest, bathed in the golden and red interplay of the rising sun and morning light, sways gently with the rustling breeze. Deep in the woods, a strange "crackle heha" sound was heard as if someone were fighting. The "heh ha" sound is naturally a move on the body, exerted to the fullest, with power penetrating the heart, unconsciously from the feeling, from the force.

The crackling sound, however, is not. It's neither like the blaring of swords, spears, halberds, nor like the hand-to-hand combat of fists and feet. From a distance, it sounds like the hammering and tapping of a wooden or bamboo pole.

Pushing aside the white poplar forest and passing through the swaying twigs and leaves of the "sasa", one could faintly see a pair of young men in the forest, agile and swift, with swords as swift as the wind, fighting in one place as if they were water and fire. By the dappled light in the poplar forest, looking closely, the two boys were a boy and a girl. The boy was Kellen, and the girl was not Elara. But who could it be?

Having lived in the Disaster Spirit Castle for ten years, both of them had developed the habit of using bamboo instead of swords to practice in the bamboo forest in the early morning. At that moment, feeling refreshed and having nothing to do, seeing this poplar forest, they felt itchy and agreed to come here for a sparring match. Since there is no bamboo here, it would be nice to use wood instead of swords.

A young man's temper, full of passion.

Kellen had just outdone her with her "moon-hunting" move, and Elara was full of fighting spirit. How could she let Kellen go? With a flick of the show stick in his hand, he opened the wooden stick in Kellen's hand, flicked it up lightly, and sent a whirlwind with air swords, straight to Kellen's right arm. Without a moment's hesitation, Kellen knew Elara had a sharp sword in her hand and quickly swung her club to block. But Elara's blade turned and only took Kellen's neck. This move, "The morning Breeze and the moon," was one of Elara's best sword moves in the past ten years. It was very strange when it came out of the blue.

Kellen broke out in a cold sweat, knowing that Elara still had some strength left in her hand, otherwise, with a sword cut, where would her head be left? With a mid-air tap of his left hand, he reached into Elara's lower abdomen. With his right hand, he made a backward move, "Dragon Roar Nine Heavens", and the sword energy rose sharply, just stopping the sword wind in Elara's hand. Kellen was horrified, though Elara's sword moves were strange, they were all from Xuantian Pili Zhenjue. However, Elara is more perceptive than Kellen, and many of her moves can be innovated and developed at the same time, so she has a slight edge in the variations of swordsmanship.

Kellen is different. With a strong sense of adherence and a lot of essentials from "Xuantian Pili Zhenjue", it aims to "use the essence of the sword and avoid the dross in every move". So, the swordsmanship is highly accomplished, and the sword is handled with ease. Even though the opponent's sword is full of magic and danger is exposed, one can remain calm and unfrightened, and deal with all changes with constancy.

Kellen dodged the sword, and Elara was alarmed. It seems that Kellen suddenly pulled out a "Dragon Roar" from her bosom, which was intended to avoid the sword and defend. How clever Elara is! Kellen's sword is sharp, but there are no less than ten hidden moves. With just one trick, "Willows in the wind," he could take his head off. Or a "Fairy Asking for a heart", directly hitting the chest and abdomen. Or a sudden move, "Mei Yue Cutting the branch," and the arm holding the sword will be removed.

Elara's underhand move, "The wind stirs the Willow Waist and intoxicates the moon," is a sudden change of formation. With a backhand flick of the show bar in hand, "鸾凤 harmony" was sent out. At the time of landing, Kellen's back, left arm, foreheart, and lower abdomen were all exposed, and she was startled and secretly marveled at Elara's extraordinary swordsmanship!

As he recited, Kellen frowned slightly, and the "鸾凤 harmony" move, though sharp, could be broken. It was only because he felt that the time had come and the morning had passed. At the moment, I have a duty to send the wounded. Just feint and admit defeat. Anyway, in the past three thousand six hundred and ninety-two mornings, Elara has always had a slight edge, so this one is not to be missed.

Kellen gave a slight smile and feigned a "dragon in the Sea" move. Before Elara could speak, she was the first to say, "I lost." Elara's "showy sword" hit Kellen right on the back of her hand. An extremely excited smile appeared on her face, her lips pursed, and her big, bright eyes shone brightly. He won, but not a word was said. But the bashful excitement on the face was not concealed at all under the brilliant smile.

Kellen murmured to herself: "Three thousand six hundred and ninety-three mornings, Elara smiles sweetly again. Seeing Elara's smile bloom, Kellen's joy was unrestrained, and she seemed to laugh even more joyfully than Elara, with a "giggle" sound.

Elara threw away the stick and stood with her hands behind her back, blushing and smiling at Kellen. Yingying laughed and said, "You're still so happy to lose?"

Kellen didn't say much, just giggled and said softly, "Hehe... I'm used to losing. Let's go. I'm afraid someone can't wait." The young man's steps are vigorous and light. Girls follow, gentle and graceful. The withered leaves, which have been around for months, lay lightly among the grass in the forest, long withered and yellow. The boys and girls, treading on the "sasa" leaves, walked merrily along the shady path.
