Chapter 158 - 158

Hill hesitated, "Sir, I think what they said might be true…"

Nick Fury frowned, "What do you mean?"

"Look at this." Hill brought a laptop in front of Nick Fury, which was playing a short video.

In the video, Chu Yang, clad in a Tailed Beast Cloak, was treating the injured; the process was not complicated, he just placed his hand on the person, and their wounds healed at a speed visible to the naked eye.

The next second, the civilians, who had been bleeding all over the ground, were jumping around as if nothing had happened.

"Oh, my God."

Even the well-informed Nick Fury couldn't help but gape in astonishment, utterly shocked.

"So, the intelligence that no civilians died might be true."

Looking at Chu Yang on the screen, Hill felt her throat itch, swallowing several times. She vaguely remembered that she seemed to have fought with this person.

My goodness, it's a miracle I'm still alive!

Nick Fury took a deep breath and continued to ask, "I understand. What about the tesseract and the mind scepter?"

Hill replied, "The mind scepter has already been retrieved by our people. As for the tesseract… Thor insists on taking it and Loki back to Asgard. I think we need to stop him."

Nick Fury retorted, "On what grounds do we arrest an ally who just helped us defeat the enemy?"

Hill was unconvinced, gritting her teeth, "Loki caused such chaos and loss, are we just going to let him off so easily?"

Nick Fury turned his head and looked at Hill seriously, saying, "As long as there are no casualties, other things are not worth mentioning. Moreover, we desperately need Asgard as an ally. You saw what happened today; with such terrifying alien forces, we simply cannot contend with them on our own."

Hill could only suppress the unwillingness in her heart and nodded, "I understand."

Nick Fury was also cursing inwardly at this moment. Did she think he didn't want to keep the tesseract?

Are you kidding me!

Who wouldn't want it!

The problem is, what do they have to go against Asgard?

Just Thor alone is difficult enough; add to that Odin, the All-Father, and those legendary "Gods," how many times would Earth be annihilated?

Nick Fury quickly dismissed those dangerous thoughts in his mind, picked up the casualty report again, and smiled with relief.

After the great battle ended, Thor took the tesseract and Loki and returned to Asgard ahead of schedule.

Knowing that Flying Thunder God could allow him to travel between Earth and Asgard, Chu Yang no longer cared about the ownership of the tesseract.

Perhaps with the help of Asgard's magical technology, he could research it even better.

Moreover, in terms of research value, the tesseract was not as good as the mind scepter.

The mind stone within the mind scepter not only activated Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch's abilities but also created the BUG-level hero, Vision.

The mind scepter falling into Hydra's hands meant Chu Yang could retrieve it sooner or later. Forcibly occupying it at this stage would only cause unnecessary disputes, and more importantly, he didn't have that much time and energy to research two infinity stones simultaneously.

It was better to utilize the wisdom of Hydra's scientists.

This was called reasonable time management.

… … … …

The New York battle came to an end. The district centered around Stark Tower suffered severe damage, and Tony, the "prodigal son," voluntarily bore all the reconstruction costs.

His action received a very enthusiastic response from the public, and Iron Man's name once again made headlines.

However, the main headline belonged to the Avengers.

This war made the Avengers household names worldwide, and even other planets knew of their existence.

After all, the famous Thor was also part of this team.

Aside from a few key figures, Chu Yang was also inevitably caught in the storm of public opinion.

It could even be said that, setting aside the hype from various media, he was the person most talked about by the common people!

Chu Yang saved too many lives.

If Tony and Nick Fury hadn't strictly kept his identity a secret, Stark Tower's entrance would probably be crowded every day with people coming to express their gratitude.

The reason for the secrecy was that Tony was worried Chu Yang's private life would be affected.

And Nick Fury didn't want Chu Yang's influence to become too great.

Ever since he learned of his abilities, Nick Fury had a strange vigilance towards Chu Yang. A person who could instantly create a terrifying army certainly needed surveillance and control.

However, considering Tony and Thor's feelings, Nick Fury didn't go too far. He merely invited Chu Yang to S.H.I.E.L.D. two weeks after the battle ended.

S.H.I.E.L.D. was undergoing extensive expansion.

The New York battle had made people aware of its importance, especially those high-ranking officials and wealthy individuals who feared death.

Captain America became S.H.I.E.L.D.'s leader, responsible for training new recruits, while Natasha and Hawkeye assisted him.

As Chu Yang and Tony walked through the main hall, they happened to see them assembling.

Tony shouted playfully, "Steve, are you back to your old job?"

Steve shrugged.

When Natasha saw Chu Yang, she whispered a few words to Steve, then walked over with an apologetic expression.

"Hey, Yang, I'm really sorry about what happened last time…"

"Thanks to you, I had a very interesting trip."

"Really?"

"Of course, in a way, I should thank you."

If it hadn't been for Natasha's unreasonable meddling, coupled with Tony's pushing, Chu Yang might not have gone to New Mexico with Coulson.

Naturally, he wouldn't have met Thor and been taken to Asgard.

Seeing that Chu Yang truly didn't take it to heart, Natasha breathed a sigh of relief. During this time, she was caught between Director Fury and Tony's arguments, pleasing neither side.

Steve suddenly walked over and extended his hand to Chu Yang, "Thank you for your assistance that day, and even more for saving so many lives. I heard Director Fury say that almost no one died in this war."

"It's simply a miracle."

Just as Chu Yang was about to say a few polite words, Tony couldn't help but retort, "Yet now, the young man who caused that miracle is to be brought here for interrogation!"

Steve sighed helplessly, "Tony, watch your words. It's not an interrogation, just an inquiry, and… we need to understand Yang's abilities. This is beneficial for everyone."

Tony wanted to argue further but was stopped by Chu Yang. He comforted him, "It's alright, Tony. I can understand Director Fury and their difficulties, and this has nothing to do with Captain. Don't take it out on him."

Tony could only stop there, shrugging, "Alright, since you put it that way, I apologize to you, Steve."

Steve cast a grateful look at Chu Yang and nodded.

"However, let me make this clear upfront: if Yang inexplicably disappears somewhere again this time, I won't let you off easily. I mean it!"

Tony warned with a firm attitude.

"You can rest assured about that. How about this, I'll personally accompany him inside." Steve looked up at the clock hanging in the hall, calculated the time, and then said, "It's not time for training yet. In fifteen minutes, he and I will come out together."

Tony nodded slightly, then turned to Chu Yang and whispered, "I'll wait for you here. If anything happens, let me know immediately."

Before they even set off, Tony had secretly placed a communicator in Chu Yang's clothes.

Chu Yang agreed, then walked into the elevator with Steve and ascended to the top floor of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury's office.

Hill stood at the elevator entrance to greet them. When she saw Steve, she paused, then reluctantly said, "Captain, I'm afraid you'll need to wait here."

Steve frowned, "Why?"

Hill explained, "There's another officer in the office, a minister from the World Security Council, Mr. Alexander Pierce. The content of this meeting needs to be kept confidential."

Steve vaguely felt something was amiss and was about to object, but Chu Yang acted before him.

Chu Yang calmly walked towards the room, turning back to smile at Steve.

"I'll wait for you here. If anything happens, you can call me."

Steve said, as if cheering Chu Yang on.

The door closed, and Hill led Chu Yang further inside.

Behind the door was a long, narrow corridor, at the end of which was another elevator.

The two entered the elevator.

Chu Yang noticed that the elevator had no floor numbers; it went directly to a specific part of the building.

"You're quite popular. I didn't expect Captain to care about you so much."

Hill smiled from the side.

"He's probably grateful that I saved those civilians."

Chu Yang closed his eyes, silently calculating the elevator's descent speed to determine the floor it would reach.

Ding dong!

The elevator doors opened, and the two stepped out. Chu Yang looked around; everything was made of alloy steel, very quiet, with low visibility, and even a bit dim. The atmosphere strongly resembled an interrogation room.

Chu Yang frowned slightly.

"Uh, don't misunderstand, this really is Director Fury's office. He just likes a subdued style. I tried to persuade him when he was decorating, but it was no use. He's very stubborn in some ways…"

Seeing Chu Yang's expression, Hill quickly explained.

Chu Yang: "…"

The alloy door ahead suddenly opened, and a bald head emerged; it was Nick Fury.

"This isn't subdued, it's low-key, Agent Hill. It's impolite to casually criticize someone else's aesthetic."

Nick Fury squinted. Hill smiled awkwardly but politely, then gestured for Chu Yang to go first.

"Thank you."

Chu Yang thanked her and entered the room, immediately seeing Alexander Pierce sitting on the sofa. The latter raised his red wine glass high, revealing a meaningful smile.

As soon as Nick Fury turned around, he immediately put on a friendly expression.

"How does it feel to be a hero people talk about?"
