Chapter 161 - 62-63

Chapter 62: What's up Doc

The next day, Izuku and Mei inspected every square inch of the Audi. While Izuku told himself it was because he wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and nothing was damaged, he, along with Mei, wanted to see how the car worked. However, Izuku was hesitant to take anything apart since Mei had no reservations. It reminded Izuku of a story he heard from her parents from when she was six and had taken apart the family car. Mr Hatsume had to spend a week putting it back together and rode a bike to work in the meantime.

So Izuku had to hold his ground against Mei and keep a close eye on her to prevent her from going about her usual antics. The last thing Izuku wanted to happen was for Mei to incorrectly put something back together and cause a chain reaction that ended with the car somehow exploding.

Their inspection of the vehicle actually started with a quick run to the grocery store, where they bought a car cleaning kit and different sprays to make the car shine. Despite the traps having covered and protected the car, there was still a good layer of dust on the outside and inside. The tires and suspension were in the biggest need of cleaning, as they were against the ground and supported the weight of the car for years, and there were also the windows that needed some touch-ups.

Once back at home, while Izuku backed the car out of the garage, Mei brought the water hose to the front and worked on getting the soap sprayer connected. Yet before they could start, Inko had a break in one of her meetings and must have caught wind of what they were doing. Because suddenly she backed her own car out and then looked at it and told Izuku not to make a sarcastic comment, Inko headed back inside.

Izuku was momentarily caught off guard, but was quickly pulled out of his thoughts as Mei managed to figure out the soap dispenser and got it working. While Izuku started to yell at Mei, threatening to find a way to block her from the support department at UA, Mei couldn't help but laugh. It reminded her of all the work they did together on the repulsor gauntlets that Izuku used for the hero entrance exam. All those times Mei had dosed him with the fire extinguisher. She really hoped Izuku getting transferred to the hero course didn't stop those kinds of moments from happening.

Mei's reminiscing came to a stop when Izuku dumped a bucket of water on her. This caused them to get into a water fight, which Izuku sorely felt defeated in since Mei had the hose.

Eventually, they got to cleaning the Audi, and as the soap and water covered the outside, the dust and dirt came off with the water and drained down the driveway. Izuku and Mei then set about using disposable towels to clean every surface. The process took nearly two hours, but once the body of the vehicle was clean and dry, Mei started on the windows while Izuku used the brushes to attack the dirt and murk that had stuck to the tires and suspension.

Once the outside was clean, Izuku and Mei used different sprays to make everything shine like it was factory news. Then came vacuuming the inside. It started with getting the easier surface, then between the seats and console, the small crevice and lines along the dashboard, up behind the seats and then under them.

In total, the deep clean of the Audi took them nearly three hours from start to finish. Then Mei looked ready to finally have a look at the engine, but Izuku reminded her they still needed to clean Inko's car. Mei said they could do that after, but knowing himself and Mei, Izuku knew they would forget about it and it would never get done. So after dragging Mei away from the Audi, they set about cleaning his mom's car.

Luckily, Inko's car was used more daily, and she was a naturally tidy person; it didn't take long to wash and dry the outside and then vacuum up the small bit of dirt inside. Then Izuku had to pop Mei's balloon again as before she could open the trunk, he told her they needed to put everything away and then pulled Inko's car back into the garage.

Sensing Mei's frustration, mainly because of how fast but organized she was putting everything away, Izuku unlocked the trunk and allowed her to be the one to open it and pull up the cover. Then, because he didn't have the good eyesight Mei's quirk gave her, Izuku turned on the trunk light to have a look at the engine. And now that he was taking a moment to have a good look over the engine, it was nothing like he had seen before.

Instead of the normal radiator, pistons, air filter, battery, intake manifold and liquid reservoir he was used to, Izuku saw two large traction motors that were housed between several cooling systems. He followed some wires and found a traction battery pack that went down under the seats and went along the bottom of the car.

Though he knew the car would run fine, Izuku still wanted to make sure everything was fine. So he quickly stepped into the garage, grabbed some testing equipment and then returned before Mei had the chance to make anything explode. As Izuku came back into view, Mei saw the different equipment he had in hand and, without saying a word, she took a few and started to hook them up to parts of the engine.

Once the different sensors were hooked up, Mei and Izuku took a step back. Izuku pulled the keys out of his pocket and, after hitting the lock button twice and then a button that had a key symbol, the engine turned on. Almost immediately, the different sensors started to get their readings. As soon as the first one beeped, the two stepped forward and began to look over the results. Though neither had ever seen an electric car before, they used their knowledge about other electric engines and found the results were in the normal range.

After disconnecting all the sensors and storing them away, Izuku and Mei decided to pull the car back into the garage. That way, it was out of the midday sun as they explored the interior of the car. They started in the glove compartment, going through the different owner and user manuals they found. They went through the different functions the manuals showed, and how to operate the sides. How to move the steering wheel pedals. Along with the air conditioning and heating. The last item was a screen in the middle of the dashboard, often found in smart cars.

The homescreen was split into four sections, the first one showed a map, the next was the selected radio station, the third was a compass and then a clock. Izuku tapped the screen, and it brightened. He then swiped left, and the screen changed to show a different app icon like it was a smartphone. Going through them, Izuku saw food apps for some of his favorite restaurants and stores. When he found the Bluetooth app, he was quick to pull out his phone and connect it. Then, after a few more swipes, the app icon took an interesting turn from the standard to aftermarket.

The first surprising icon was a simple lightbulb, and when Izuku pressed it, the dashboard lit up with lights under the dashboard and the lights lining the door turned on. On the screen was a scroll wheel of colors. Moving his finger around the scroll wheel, Izuku watched as lights around the interior suddenly turned and then flashed between the colors. Deciding on a neon green, a notification popped up asking if he wanted to set the exterior light to the same color.

Izuku and Mei looked at each other, then he hit accept. Opening their door and looking down, they saw a neon green glow form out from underneath the car. Izuku had never taken his father for one to mod cars, but it started to seem just like the blueprint of his Iron Man armor and Classroom 6-G. Hisashi didn't know where to stop as he had clearly put a lot of work into the car. It was starting to feel like a car that would be used in those old American movies that were about cars and family.

Backing out of the color scroll wheel, they continued to scroll through the apps. They discovered how to turn on the heating and cooling for the seat, along with different massage options, which they enjoyed for a few minutes. They then discovered that when they input an address and got directions, instead up pulling up a map and have a blue line going across the map, an augmented display appeared on the windscreen with a road being itself appearing to be highlight while a small map appear along with the distance to the next turned appeared on the bottom of left of the windscreen.

Izuku would have likened it to his HUD in his helmet, but Mei said it felt like they were in a video game, and that felt more appropriate. Turning off the route, they continued to scroll through until Mei tapped on an app that looked like a movie theater reel with a small popcorn bucket in front of it.

Nothing seemed to happen, but then they could see a faint clicking noise, and Mei pointed out the hood had popped up a bit. Then, against the blank garage wall, a white panel of light appeared. It was small, no bigger than a laptop screen, but then it quickly grew to be the size of a TV. Izuku turned his attention back to the screen and saw that it had a remote. Hitting the power button, the white panel turned blue, then changed to show the home screen of a smart TV. Izuku scrolled through and found all the different streaming services, along with HDMI inputs.

Izuku then looked over at Mei and saw she had a glint in her eyes, "All you need now is some more gadget and weaponry then you'll have an old school Bond car."

Izuku sighed as he brought up a hand to rub the bridge of his nose, "No, no. We're not putting mini-guns behind the headlights."

"Fine, then what about oil slicks or spike traps? Can we have non-lethal traps?" Mei begged. Izuku remembers the day he found Mei watching old spy movies. Knowing Mei, Izuku knew she wasn't watching them for the action or the story but for the different spy gadgets that were used throughout. He had to stop her a few times from creating exploding pens or laser cigarettes. Otherwise, Powerloader would find himself accidentally clicking a pen, and having it explode in his hand, not that Mei's other inventions already did that.

"If you want to create a spy car, then we'll buy a car from a junkyard and fix it up for our final exam." Izuku said, and Mei looked very happy, "But we're still not going to add mini-guns." Mei frowned at Izuku, but he held firm.

Turning off the projector, Izuku scrolled to the next set of apps, yet only found one. It was directly in the middle of the screen, and the icon was a red gear with the kanji for speed in the middle. Izuku and Mei looked at each other, and then Izuku tapped the icon, and the next second, the car started to shift. All the lights became a dark maroon, and they could feel the car getting closer to the ground. Looking down through the window, Izuku saw the tires start to camber in, while the spoiler in the back raised further up.

Then came a low rumble that sounded like a jet engine starting up. It reminded Izuku of how the car sounded when he first started it up. Then a voice said, "Changes of modes. Ignore current speed limits, leave everything behind."

"Okay, what?" Izuku turned his attention back inside the car and quickly withdrew his hand from the screen, afraid to touch anything. Had his father built this car to be like the ones in those old spy films, and was this some kind of getaway mode in case he was being chased?

"Can we please now take it to a race track and see what kind of power it has?" Mei said, but Izuku shook his head. For the nth time, Mei had elected to forget neither of them had their driving license, so it was going to be a while until they could really take the car out for any kind of fun.

Izuku tapped the gear icon again, and the car shifted back to its normal mode. Hitting the power button, the engine took off, and Izuku grabbed the keys from the cup holder. As he got out, he attached the keys to his belt loop so Mei didn't try to make off with them. It was still a few hours until dinner, so Mei decided to head home while Izuku finished up what little homework he had left.

As he walked to his room, he couldn't help but smile as he let the excitement wash over him. Mei was right, he had an old-fashioned spy car. If only he was in his third year, he would be a few weeks away from turning 18, and he could get his license. But for now, the car would just have to sit in the garage.

On Monday, like before Momo, Iida, Ochaco and Gizon sat with Izuku at lunch. This time, Mei joined them, something about Powerloader not wanting to push his luck. Izuku shared everything they had discovered about the car, and when he made the comment about how it felt like a spy car, Gizon laughed and commented that they should name the car Bond.

Mei then brought up how Izuku was against taking the Audi to a racetrack so they could really see what the car was capable of. And Izuku stated yet again that none of them had a driver's license, and Iida commended him for being an upstanding member of society.

But then Momo metaphorically stabbed her class president in the back when she brought up how she had a cousin who was a car enthusiast and how long before he got his license was driving his private car collection around race tracks. No one at the table missed Ochaco's comment about the rich getting special treatment. While Iida looked defeated and Mei had a glint in her eyes, Ochaco and Gizon just made the passive request to be invited along to just watch as Ochaco wasn't brave enough to drive something that expensive that fast, while Gizon didn't want to take the risk.

While Izuku didn't have any plan of doing anything like that, he told them he would let them know if it ever happened.

After lunch and needing to get his mind off the car, Izuku spent a few minutes working on the support equipment Denki, Jirou, and Shoji had requested from him. He got the blueprint at least finished before summer hit, and then he could use the summer to build them. But it wasn't long until he found himself working on the exoskeleton for Tensei; it just felt like a bigger need than the support equipment for Class 1-A.

It was 20 minutes before the final bell was to ring when he heard a knock coming from Classroom 6-G's door.

"Jabisu, who is it?" Izuku asked.

"Recovery Girl, sir." Jabisu and the door opened.

"Midoriya, or Sutaku now?" Recovery Girl asked, as this was the first time they had met since the internship.

Izuku chuckled as he turned away from the hologram of the neurolink, "Technically, my parents never divorced so my legal name has always been Sutaku, but I'm still getting used to that. So let's stay with Midoriya for the time being. So what brought you here today?"

"Is this it?" Recovery Girl asked, walking up to the holotable and overlooking the design.

"In theory at least. After reading all those medical books you gave me, I landed on this design and am starting stimulation later this week." Izuku casually said, though Recovery Girl gave him a look. He had asked her for a book on neuroscience so he was better equipped to build the neurolink. And while Recovery Girl had only lent him three books, they were quite thick. For someone unfamiliar with neuroscience, each book should have taken a month, at least, but Izuku had already given the first one back.

"Well explain it to me." Recovery Girl said.

"To start, the base of the design is similar to the neuro link within my armor. But my understanding is that Ingenium's nerves were completely severed, so the impulses they would be sending would be very weak. It would be impossible to get a reading through skin contact." Izuku then waved his hands, and the large hologram became smaller. About the size of an old MP3 player. In fact, the body hologram looked like one, but with eight thin needles poking out along the body, while at the base, there was another rectangular attachment that looked like an old iPod nano. "I believe the best way to get around that issue is to attach the neurolink directly to Ingenium nerves."

"Setting aside surgical risks, how does it function?" Recovery Girl asked as she took a seat, ready for a long-winded explanation.

Izuku waved his hand again, and the hologram enlarged, but it wasn't as big as before. "The thin needles get inserted into the base of the spinal cord. Once everything is in place and at the touch of a button, small hooks made out of a synthetic myelin sheath will come out and attach themselves to the nerve that controls the legs. These hooks will redirect any nerve impulse into the neurolink. Within the microcontroller, the impulses are read and then translated into an electrical signal that is then sent out through the exoskeleton and causes it to move."

"Wow, you did that in less than 100 words. You made it sound simple, and if I've learnt anything, it means it's not." Recovery Girl said, Happy Izuku wasn't getting into the habit of explaining every little thing about a design that many support course students fell into. Izuku nodded his thanks. "And as for why I'm here, I got hold of Tensei's main physician. A man by the name of Dr Yensin."

"Dr Yensin." Izuku repeated to show his acknowledgement.

"And he's agreed to meet us later today." Recovery Girl said, catching Izuku's attention, "Meaning we would need to leave right now."

"Oh. Oh. Oh!" Izuku said as he slowly connected the dots and realized what Recovery Girl meant. He quickly saved his progress with a hand swipe, then powered down the hologram table while pulling off his gloves. By the time he was grabbing his backpack, Recovery Girl was already in the hallway. He quickly caught up to her, "I don't know if I'm allowed to leave school early."

"The one thing hero school can't prepare you for is how chaotic your schedule will become. As a sidekick and low rank pro hero, you'll be lucky to go to bed at a normal time." Recovery Girl said.

Izuku followed Recovery Girl out of the support department and then off campus and over to the teacher's parking lot. She led him over to his car and then got in and turned the car on. After buckling in, Recovery Girl pulled the car while Izuku remembered he should probably text Mei about his trip.

The trip to Hosu was quiet in conversation while Recovery Girl played music from her time, while Izuku took a small power nap. With how busy the past few days had been for him and all that he was working on, some days, Izuku felt like he wasn't getting much sleep. He didn't stir until he felt the car slow down from getting off the freeway and back on the city street. As Izuku sat up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes, he realized something and sarcastically said, "So does this make you my pro hero escort for the day?"

"Guess so. I might be an old healer but I can still swing a mean bat." Recovery Girl said.

"So I've been told by Hisahito and Uraraka. Oh, and Powerloader." Izuku said, recalling all the comments he had heard about Recovery Girl from those three. Though Gizon and Ochaco spoke of their personal experience, their after-school training often went overboard. On the other hand, Powerloader was more about the times he had seen his students on the receiving end. Izuku was quick to learn Recovery Girl wasn't afraid to speak her mind, and when someone annoyed her, she didn't worry about hurting feelings or bones as she told them.

Recovery Girl huffed as she said, "I swear your teacher teaches safety seconds."

"Pretty sure most students for the support course come in already like that." Izuku said, then had to dodge a swipe from Recovery Girl, "You aren't much better."

"Hey, I haven't had to see you since the Sports Festival." Izuku said, trying to defend himself.

"And what about the matter of your broken arm from fighting a nomu?" Recovery Girl questioned.

"Hey. "Izuku said defensively, "That injury was not from an invention but from fighting a villain. Besides, you weren't the doctor who fixed it. And since then, it's only been minor bruises and cuts. I only come to you to make sure they don't get infected."

Recovery Girl huffed again, since that day of the break-in, she thought Izuku was going to be one of those students who were constantly coming to her to get healed. But she did have to admit she hadn't dealt with him for anything major as of lately, though she wasn't going to say anything out loud because she didn't want to jinx anything.

And the conversation ended at the perfect time as Recovery Girl pulled into the parking lot of the hospital where they would be meeting Dr Yensin. Pulling up to the gate, Recovery Girl rolled down her window as a security guard stepped out from his booth.

"Name?" the guard said with a rough voice.

"Chiyo Shuzenji. Recovery Girl. Here to see Dr Yensin." Recovery Girl said as she reached into her purse and pulled out her hero license and medic license. She handed them over to the guard.

"Who's your passenger?" The guards asked him to look across at Izuku.

"Izuku Midoriya-Sutaku." Izuku pulled out his school license and handed it over.

"A high schooler has to have special permission to be in this faculty, especially through this entrance." The guard calmly said.

"He's here to discuss with Dr Yensin about making a prosthesis for one of the injured pro heroes." Recovery Girl said. And already knowing what the guard would ask for next, Izuku pulled out his support gear license from Hatsume Industries and handed it over.

The guard must have recognized Hatsume Industries, because he tossed Izuku a glance before stepping back into his booth to run the cards. A minute later, he stepped back and handed the licenses back. "Enjoy your visit." The guard pressed a button, and the gate rose.

Taking the licenses back, Recovery Girl thanked the guard and then drove through. She drove up the different levels of the parking structure until the seventh level, where she backed into a handicap spot. And before Izuku could do anything, she pulled out a small sign she hung on the rearview mirror, "I'm getting old and I'm using the advantage it comes with. And I had a hip replacement five years ago."

"So that's why you disappeared for four months. I thought you had retired." Izuku commented as he got out of the car.

"I was going to, but then some bonehead I know had to get himself injured and now I can't retire until he does or dies." Recovery Girl said, in a tone that told Izuku that she didn't think too highly of whoever she was talking about, "And don't say anything to the rat. He gets a kick out of this stuff, despite being old for his age." Then Recovery Girl looked up with a slight glare, "Or would you rather learn the truth behind Hisahito's comment."

"No thanks, I think I'm good," Izuku said, and they started to walk over to the entrance door. Izuku held the door open for Recovery Girl, and as he stepped through, he asked, "What floor is Dr Yensin's office on?"

"Floor 10." Recovery Girl said as she hit the button to call the elevator to their floor. Once it opened and they stepped in, Izuku hit the button on the 10th floor. After a short elevator ride up, the elevator chimed, and the two stepped out.

As the two walked down the hallways, nurses and doctors alike would toss a few glances at them. Though Izuku knew most of the looks were towards him, as he had to look out of place with his messy hair that was starting to get long, white t-shirt with the Kanji of gearhead and slightly tattered black pants. Yet once they saw he was with Recovery Girl, they left him alone.

After passing through a heavy set of doors where Recovery Girl had to scan her medical license, and after a few turns, they arrived at the door with a plaque with "Dr. Yensin, M.D, Hero Recovery Specialist" on it. Stepping forward, Recovery Girl knocked on the door and then waited. There was some crashing around from behind the door before it opened, and a tall, lanky, old gentleman with a greying triangle goatee appeared. He looked down at Recovery Girl and smiled, "Ah, Recovery Girl. This is a surprise, I didn't think you would be able to make it until much later in the evening. Yet here you are."

Then Dr Yensin noticed Izuku in his odd clothes, "Ah, excuse me, you must be….?"

"Izuku Midoriya-Sutaku." Izuku said, holding his hand out, and he could see Dr Yensin's eyes light up a bit.

"Ah yes, the support school who shoved it to the HPSC and took down Sutein Co. I must say dear boy, when news of your victory over the HPSC reached the ears of the pro heroes under my care, more than a few bottles were popped and glasses raised in celebration. A good moral boost over all." Dr Yensin shook Izuku's hand, but then suddenly paused and looked back at Recovery Girl, "He won't happen to be the assistant you mentioned with this little project of yours."

"Technically I'm his assistant, as Tensei's younger brother approached him directly. Midoriya came to me as he needed a medical expert attached to the project." Recovery Girl clarified.

"Ah, I see." Dr Yensin said, then turned and gestured to his desk, "Please come in. Have a seat at my desk and we can discuss this project you have in mind. I am still not quite sure what you hope to achieve as you were quite vague in your methods."

Recovery Girl and Izuku thanked Dr Yensin and stepped into his office. They sat down in the two seats across from Dr Yensin, while the man himself sat down in the large chair on the other side.

"I think it would be best if I start from the beginning." Izuku said, and Dr Yensin nodded, "A few weeks ago, shortly after the attack in Hosu, Tenya Iida approached me. He was wondering if it was possible if I could build an exoskeleton set of legs that would help his brother walk again."

Dr Yensin's eyes lit up a bit, but he still had a bit of hollowness. "It has always been a common practice of replacing limbs and sorts for wounded military veterans and injury-retired pro heroes. Replacing a part of a leg or an entire leg below the waist. It's been done in the past, since the 21st century, and people have been able to walk with much difficulty. But to replace both legs entirely on someone who is paralyzed below the waist. He would have no means of controlling such items."

"Then it's a good thing we're not replacing them," Izuku said as he pulled out his phone and typed a few things. He then placed his phone on Dr Yensin's desk. Dr Yensin began to reach for the phone, believing Izuku wanted to show himself, but when Izuku removed his hand, a small hologram appeared: "Just giving them a boost."

"Oh my." Dr Yensin said in disbelief as he looked at the hologram of a set of exoskeleton legs that looked to be straight from a sci-fi space video game.

"What you are looking at is a modified version of the exoskeleton from my hero suit. When it comes down to it, I want to build Tensei a high tech advanced prosthesis that would allow him to walk again, unassisted by anything else." Izuku said, and saw the light increase in Dr Yensin, "And I must emphasize that is all it would do. As I've explained to his younger brother, Tensei would not be able to return an Ingenium. The exoskeleton would not be able to hold up to the speed he is able to achieve."

Dr Yensin leaned back in his chair, clearly thinking over some items. But then he looked back at Izuku, "Well it would be a miracle to have something as you've described to be created. To give Young Tensei another chance at a normal life, it would be the greatest service possible. And if it works, there are plenty of other pro heroes here who would love to have the same chance." Dr Yensin then looked back down at the hologram, "From where I'm sitting it seems you have everything figured out. I'm not sure what assistance I could provide, aside from signing off approval."

"Yes, to that matter. While I have the legs designed and ready to be manufactured. There is still one issue we believe we have a solution to, but we need to make sure it will work, and for that, we need access to Iida's medical files." Izuku leaned forward and enlarged the hologram to the belt where the neurolink would be. "This is a neurolink. It's how my suit works. It reads my brain waves and converts them into signals. I want to make the same for Iida's new legs; however, I need to know the exact extent of his condition and possibly have you run a few tests. I need as much detail about his injuries as you can give, even to the nth degree. Otherwise, this solution might not work."

Dr Yensin's smile disappeared. "Oh, then that might be a problem. Beyond just doctor-patient confidentiality, Tensei Iida is a pro hero. And Pro hero medical files are kept under high security. I mean, even the HPSC has to file the necessary paperwork, and it can take up to a month. And as you are neither a family member nor a medical provider, it could take up to a year to get through all the red tape and legality."

Well, there went the easy way, but before Izuku could say anything, Recovery Girl stepped forward, "Dr Yesin, I understand your pride in yourself in running one of the best pro hero recovery hospitals in Japan. You were at the forefront of providing assistance to the pro hero, whether they were active or retired. And I know after what happened 20 years ago, you were hesitant to hand over medical files for Ingenium." Recovery Girl said.

Dr Yensin let out a slow sigh, "But I said it myself. If this turns to work, there are other pro heroes who would jump at the chance of a normal life."

Izuku wasn't sure what Recovery Girl was talking about regarding what happened 20 years ago. But it sounded like an issue of security, so Izuku reached into his pocket and pulled out a black flash drive, "Dr Yensin, on this flash drive is an encryptor. When you're ready, attach the file to whatever form of communications you send the file through, and I can promise, anyone who tries to read might as well be reading Latin."

Dr Yensin looked at the flash drive and then took, "Thank you Midoriya. It may take some time but I'll send the files… Actually how am I supposed to send you the medical files?"

"Send them to Recovery Girl, I'm sure I'll get them soon after." Izuku said, and Dr Yensin nodded, "Oh, hey doc, there is one more thing. We're hoping it will turn into a surprise for the Iida family. That includes Tensei."

"Ah, a welcome surprise, I'm sure it will be. However, when it comes down to it, he has to be the one that decides on if he wants it. He'll have to sign a few waivers, I guess I can try and make them vague, but he's a smart young man, but I'll do what I can." Dr Yensin said as he slipped the flash drive into his inner coat pocket.

Izuku reached forward and grabbed his phone. He was happy that Dr Yensin was so understanding. And like the Doc had said, if this worked, then Pro heroes around Japan who had been forced to retire because of an injury would jump at a chance to live a normal life. Izuku then mentally sighed, and of course, there were sure to be some that tried to be pro heroes again. he would handle that issue when it arose.

Chapter 63: To Pass or Not to Pass

Though it was early in the week, meeting Dr Yensin was only a break from Izuku's regular routine. He focused on school, and when he got home, he worked on homework before spending the evening studying for finals. Over the weekend, he finished up his project for the practical portion of his Support course exam, and on Monday, he submitted it to Powerloader. It was a blueprint for a variant of his Iron Man armor, which normally won't have given him a passing grade, as the build had to be original.

Yet after Powerloader overlooked the blueprint and shot a glance at Izuku, Izuku explained the point of the blueprint, how it helped with the issue of getting into his suit when he didn't have access to Class room 6-G. And how if he got into the hero course, he couldn't spend fifteen minutes every day to get suited up for heroic class.

Powerloader overlooked the blueprint and gave Izuku a low A. It was an impressive design, and it helped solve a major issue Izuku always had. And if he got the blueprint to work, and seeing how much work Izuku had put into it, Powerloader was sure it would. Yet it couldn't be a perfect grade as it wasn't a completely original idea since a strong basis of Izuku's design was his Iron Man armor.

After that, finals week began for the students of UA High. The stress coming from the rooms was thick enough to be cut with a knife, though if anyone tried, it would have felt like they were using a butter knife to cut a log. Throughout the day, as Izuku moved from exam to exam, he saw different methods UA students were using to keep themselves awake and alert after pulling all-nighters. He lost count of the number of students he saw drinking coffee and energy drinks. There were more than a few who had multiple textbooks out, going through them to get last-minute studying done.

Izuku even saw two third years who slapped each other as hard as possible at the same time in an attempt to stay away. He knew he would probably be in a similar boat if numbers and math hadn't come easily to him. And it was all thanks to the years he spent as an intern at Hatsume Industries. Japanese didn't take too much studying, and Izuku had found himself picking up English pretty well since the Sports Festival, as if a switch had been flipped. The two classes that had taken up most of Izuku's time were Modern Art and Literature, as there wasn't one right answer and more up to interpretation.

Thursday afternoon, Izuku felt his brain was ready to blow a fuse. He and Mei had plans to hang out that afternoon, but the moment he got home, he fell face-first onto his bed. He only awakened when Inko called him down for dinner.

Soon, it was Friday, and that meant it was time for the test Izuku was the most stressed about. Practical portion of Heroic Classes. His do-or-die moment: if he passed, he would be transferred to the hero course and join his friends in Class 1-A. If he doesn't, then he won't get another chance until the end of the year.

If the test had just been destroying robots like the hero entrance exam, Izuku wouldn't be too stressed. He had his whole suit of armor, which was a lot stronger, and he was more prepared. But unfortunately, he had some behind-the-scenes information about the practical exam, and it was stressing him out.

If he were lucky, then Izuku would be paired with a proctor who took it easy on him. His suit had taken several hits from the black nomu in Hosu, but that didn't stop Izuku from worrying that whoever he was paired against would find a hole in his defense, many of whom had decades of experience in the field. This was UA, and they didn't do anything subtle.

As Izuku lay on his bed, his body was frozen in stress. This made him nearly miss his phone buzzing from his nightstand. Reaching over and grabbing it, Izuku sat up and saw he had been re-added to Class 1-A group chat, as Mr Aizawa had kicked him out at the end of the Internship. The text was from Mr Aizawa, "Due to an emergency raid being issued to several UA staff members, today's practical heroic class mid-term exam has been delayed until this afternoon."

"Thank you for the notification." Gizon said, then Sero asked, "Who's the raid on?"

"A group of former employees from Sutein Co." Mr Aizawa briefly explained that that was all Izuku had to be told, as Inko had been particular about which pro heroes she wanted contacted to handle any leftover disgruntled employees.

"Hey Midbro, have I ever told you how happy I am that you don't down a villain empire." Mina texted.

"Should I inform my mother?" Izuku asked.

"No, she will be notified through the police. Now I expect with the morning free each and every single one of you will take the time to better prepare for your tests." Mr Aizawa then went silent.

Izuku wasn't sure what everyone from Class 1-A planned on doing with their free morning, but he had decided to head to UA. After some breakfast and a short ride on a bus, Izuku climbed the hill to UA's front gate and headed for the Support department. He scanned his card and then headed for Classroom 6-G.

Izuku walked to the far wall of the room and hit the side of his fist against the wall a few times. As he stepped back, the wall opened and Mark 4 slid out, suspended in the air by a large metal arm attached to the back. While Izuku could have easily had Jabisu run a diagnosis to make sure everything was ready to go, with morning free, he decided to do it himself. After taking some cables and connecting them to the suit, Izuku dragged over and attached them to the holotable, where he started to run the diagnostics.

It didn't take long for Izuku to get into the groove, and soon the morning was gone, yet he didn't notice until he felt his stomach growl. It was around this time that he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket, while at the same time, the doors to Classroom 6-G opened up. Finishing up with the boots, Izuku powered down the Holotable and then turned to the door. He found Powerloader walking in with a salad in hand.

"Everyone was wondering where you were," Powerloader said while Izuku pulled out his phone and saw Gizon was calling him. Powerloader put the salad on a desk and then left, but not without first saying, "Eat first, then meet 1-A outside their changing hall. And don't forget to bring project gravity."

As Izuku nodded and sat down to eat the salad. As Powerloader left, Izuku pulled out his phone and answered the call, "Hey, what do you need?"

"Just making sure you know what it is, you have a habit of losing track of time and getting lost in the world of engineering." Gizon said.

"Yeah, I'm in 6-G. Having a quick lunch and then going to get suited up." Izuku said, then took a bite, "What about you and the others?"

"The others are getting changed, I'm waiting outside the front doors." Gizon said.

"Hisahito." Izuku noticed how Gizon didn't say he was getting dressed as well, "Are you planning on taking the exam in your street clothes?"

Gizon laughed, "Ha, no. I arrived an hour ago to use the gym for a warm up and got dressed early. Don't forget, It's City Beta. And don't be late." Gizon then hung up and left Izuku to make quick work of his salad.

After disposing of the plate and fork, Izuku started to get suited up in Mark 4 armor. As the helmet formed over his head and the HUD powered on, Izuku asked, "Jabisu where's project gravity."

"Ms. Hatsume pulled them out two days ago and left them in compartment 1G3." Jabisu said, and Izuku sighed, "I'm opening compartment 1G3 now for you, sir."

As Izuku gained full control of his suit and dropped to the ground, he turned and saw that another part of the wall was open. Walking up, Izuku fully pulled out the drawer and then opened the lid. Inside, he found all the pieces for the project. Principal Nezu had approached him and Mei. Let Mei had been the last one to handle them and had done so without supervision, so he found it wise to ask, "Any of them liable to blow up?"

"Surprisingly no, Sir. Detecting no explosive properties." Jasbisu said. Izuku laughed because when an AI knew about Mei's antics, or lack thereof in this case, it was obvious it was more than just a personality quirk.

"Good, the last thing I need is to have one of them accidentally blow on a teacher." Izuku took the items and slid them into a compartment on his legs. He then turned and headed out of the room and then the building. He made his way over to the main building, where Class 1-A came out of the front doors. They all quickly spotted Izuku, and a few of them waved at him. As Izuku walked up, he took off his helmet and attached it to his hip, "Hey guys."

As Izuku walked up, he saw that a few of them had made some minor upgrades to their costume and held themselves very differently from the Sports Festival. Mina gave a big wave and said, "Hey, Midbro. You are ready to crush your mechanical brethren."

Izuku gave her a confused look, "I'm not a cyborg. At least not yet."

Kirishima held out a fist that Izuku bumped, and the redhead said, "You ready to bust some robots, man. With the way you handled that nomu in Hosu, this should be a breeze for you."

Izuku had to bite his tongue so he didn't accidentally reveal anything about the truth of the tests; instead, he gave a simple, "Yeah."

While Class 1-A gave their own greetings, Bakugo just scoffed, "Damn nerd, you think because you're got that suit of armor you deserve to be in the hero course. You'll always just be a useless deku."

Izuku didn't know why he said what he was about to say. Maybe it was because wearing the armor had started to make him confident that he didn't have to hide who he was, so he didn't get bullied. Maybe it was because he knew he could hold his own, "Really, Kacchan. I don't see why not. I won the Sports Festival, beating you out, and then got a black nomu under my belt. I did all that without any formal training. Remind me, what were you doing during your internship? Oh yeah, playing dress up with Best Jeanist, Aunt Mitsuki was more than happy to share the photo Best Jeanist gave her."

Bakugo went stiff for a second, but then he growled and rushed Izuku, "At least I don't have to rely on a suit to fight, all I need is my quirk. Without that suit, you are nothing, and I'll remind you of your place."

Bakugo jumped at Izuku, ready to fire out an explosion, but then Gizon stepped in between them. He held out a hand that hit Bakugo in the chest and made him recoil. As Bakugo stumbled back, Gizon held out a hand to Izuku as he had held the repulsors within the gauntlets and started to power up, "Knock it off, both of you." Gizon then looked over at Izuku, "We don't need either of you doing something stupid."

Bakugo growled as he tried to knock Gizon's arm out of the way, but it didn't move, "Move out of the way, Glow Stupid. Deku has gotten cocky, and someone has to remind him where his place is!'

"It's right here, alongside us," Gizon said, turning back to Bakugo and locking eyes. Gizon's eyes briefly glowed as if daring Bakugo to take a swing. His tone was sharp and deadly, making everyone else take a step back, "Sutaku has earned the right to try for the hero course again. Or have you elected to forget, he beat me, who beat Uraraka, who beat you."

"Again, that just means he'll never be as good as me since I got in on the first try while getting the most villain points," Bakugo said, throwing aside Gizon's comment about who beat whom. Bakugo took a step forward, but Gizon firmly pressed his palm to Bakugo's shirt, "He should know better than to try to get in my way; I won't let him look down on me."

"Then doesn't that go for all of us. We're all taking the same test, any of us has a chance to get a better grade than you." Gizon said as he dropped his hand from Izuku as he heard the repulsors power down. At least one of them was keeping a cool head.

"As if any of your extras have a chance of destroying more stupid robots than me." Bakugo said, causing Gizon to look over at Izuku with a smirk. Izuku gave a confused look that just made Gizon roll his eyes. He would let Izuku figure that out for himself.

"Come on you three. We have mid term exams to get to." Ochaco ordered, "Or would you rather fail and be left behind from the summer camp."

Bakugo looked at Gizon, then clicked his tongue. He then turned around and walked away, "You can try all you want but none of you extra will ever be as strong as me. And I'll provide by taking out more robots than any of you."

As Bakugo disappeared from view, Sero made the comment, "I don't think I've ever seen Bakugo act like that. Sure, he yells at us and fights with Class 1-B, but it's never been anything like that."

Denki nodded along with his friends, "He must have some kind of history with Midoriya."

Izuku had to take slow breaths to try to calm himself. He had just stood up to Bakugo, and he was surprised he didn't have a panic attack or something. "You won't be far off thinking like that." That made everyone turn and look at Izuku. He took a moment to think about what he wanted to share, "Kacchan and I have known each other since we were kids. When we gained our quirks, our peers' reactions were quite different.

"Kacchan's quirk was seen as powerful and flashy, perfect for a top-ranked pro hero, and everyone didn't hesitate to tell him. On the other hand, my quirk didn't have any practical usage since I can't discharge like Kaminari. There wasn't much I could do with it outside my suit. It wasn't until middle school that I was given the arc reactor, but by then everyone just saw it as…. impractical."

"And…" Izuku took a slow breath, "Kacchan had no issue reminding me of that everyday."

A gloomy cloud overtook the group. They all knew Bakugo had an angry issue, but they hadn't seen him do anything like that. Suddenly, Mina hugged Izuku as hard as she could, given his suit. She knew what it was like to be bullied, but she had a small friend group there to support her. From what Izuku was saying, it sounded like he had no one."

Momo looked aghast, "I knew he had a temper, but I didn't think he was capable of bullying. Surely you reported him to the principal of your school."

Izuku almost opened his mouth to say he had tried. In elementary school and in the beginning of middle school, but after a while, he learned it didn't matter who he told. It wasn't like the principal or any teacher would help him, not when there were more times than not encouraging Bakugo's behavior. Even when it was clear as day what he was doing to Izuku, the teacher would just say that Izuku shouldn't spread lies, and it won't do him any good to try to destroy a bright young boy who was destined to be the next number one pro hero.

Izuku couldn't say anything about that, otherwise it would destroy Bakugo's chance of becoming a pro hero. Because Izuku had always known one thing for sure, no matter how Bakugo acted, deep down, he was meant to become a pro hero. Even if all he said he wanted was to become the strongest, Izuku took that as Bakugo was protecting the most people by taking down the most villains.

Instead, Izuku said, "I just found it easier to keep to myself. It wasn't like anyone wanted to be my friend."

"Well, you're here at UA and you've got us as friends. We'll make sure he doesn't do that any more. We'll take him to the principal if he goes too far again." Ochaco said, trying to reassure Izuku.

"And don't forget, it's because of your quirk that you defeated me and won the Sports Festival. Your quirk might not be the most straightforward, but you still were about to find a workaround. That's a lot more than most of us could do." Gizon said earnestly, as he had to be given two completely separate quirks before his primary quirk could be viable.

"Thank you guys." Izuku said, then tried to put on a brave face, "Come on, we have an exam to get to. Once we all pass, we can put the stress away and enjoy summer."

"Yeah." Class 1-A cheered. Though one member of the group, who was thinking it was about time they got down to the bottom of the history between Izuku and Bakugo, it was clear that Izuku wasn't saying everything that had happened. He would need to find out where Izuku went to elementary and middle school and have a look at their records.

It wasn't their goal to get Bakugo kicked out of UA; that was a one-way ticket to get the blonde bomber to fall off the deep end and find his way to One for All. And that was the opposite of what they were hoping to accomplish, but it was clear Bakugo was on a self-destructive path, and eventually, one day, he was going to do something that had put him at odds with every pro hero. And they wanted to keep him as an ally, as he would be a powerful player in the coming war against the villains.

That member of Class 1-A pushed those thoughts out for later, as City Beta came into view, along with all the first-year teachers. This was surprising for the members of Class 1-A and only Class 1-A.

"Hey-a Teachs." Mina said with a big wave, "Have you all come to watch our test?"

Before any of the teachers said anything, a ruffling came from Mr Aizawa's scarf, and the next second, Principal Nezu popped. The sight made a few members of the 1-A have to hold back a laugh, "This year has been one of unforeseen events and situations, as such, you as students have grown at an accelerated rate, and we as your teacher would not be doing our duty if we did not give you exams that match such growth."

That sent a sense of forbidding over the group, but what exactly did Principal Nezu mean by that? How had the mid-term exam changed to reflect their unprecedented growth? Some of the more observant students of Class 1-A overlooked their teachers again, questioning if the new tests dealt with them.

"Sir if I may ask, what are the new parameters for our new mid term exam?" Iida asked, and Principal Nezu gave a look that said he was waiting for someone to ask that question.

"Though talking with your upper-class men, you learn the normal mid-term exam for first years would be fighting against robots similar to the entrance exam you all took. However, it has changed to reflect your growth as students and pro heroes in training. For your mid-term exam, you will be placed in pairs and will fight against your teachers."

As the dread overcame the students, the sound of a recording being scratched could be heard, literally. This caused Izuku to look down and see a big thumbs-up in his HUD. Great, it seemed Mei had messed with Jabisu's settings again.

"Hold on.' Gizon said in a tone not many had heard from him. He sounded dumbfounded, taken aback, and confused, "You want us as students with only a few months of training to go up against pro heroes, many of whom have well over 15 years of experience in the field."

"No, no." Principal Nezu said, with a wave as if dismissing Gizon's concern, "I want you as students with only a few months of training to go up against pro heroes, with more than 15 years of experience while having handicaps."

"Oh, well then," Gizon said, and everyone saw his dumbfounded expression turn into his usual cocky one he got before a fight, despite the ludicrous idea behind this one. It was clear he was all for it.

Then the realization dawned on the rest of the group, and the main feeling was panic. Panic and fear, for they were fighting their own teachers.

"Perhaps we should explain the change before you cause a panic." Mr Aizawa tossed a side eye at Principal Nezu.

Principal Nezu's ears dropped a bit, but then he said, "I believe it would be best if we have Mr Sutaku explain, as he had a hand in creating the handicaps."

Immediately, all of Class 1-A's attention was on Izuku. "Midbro, please tell me you made the handicap strong enough that we have a chance to win," Mina begged.

Izuku sighed as he stepped forward, and as he passed Mr Aizawa and Principal Nezu, the compartment on his leg opened, and he pulled out what looked like weighted arm and ankle bands that martial art experts use to train. "A few weeks ago, Principal Nezu approached Mei and I to create these adjustable weight bands."

Izuku started to hand the arm and ankle bands out to the teachers, "They can be set to any weight, but for this exam, they will record each user's weight and then automatically increase it to be 15% of the total weight."

"As you can guess, this will limit our movements and slow us down." Mr Aizawa said.

Midnight was the last of the teachers present to be given her weighted bands, but when Izuku handed them over, Present Mic noticed that hers weren't the same black and dull gray as the other ones, "Ah yo, I didn't know we could have gotten these customs. I would have gotten jet black with some gold accent."

"She didn't ask. She threatened." Izuku said, taking a step back from Midnight as she gave him a flirtatious smirk, "I just made him an offer he couldn't refuse."

"Midnight." Mr Aizawa called over his shoulder, his voice turning into a razor-sharp point.

"Nothing for grounds of a restraining order." Midnight huffed. She enjoyed the blush she got from Izuku, but that was quickly cut off as she saw the deadpan glare she was receiving from Gizon. All she had offered was to help Izuku the next time he took Mei out for a date.

"Now that is all situated, it's time to get to the pairing." Yet before Principal Nezu could continue, Mina raised her hand and said, "But sir, there's an odd number. Will one group be made of three?"

"As Izuku Midoriya-Sutaku is not a part of Class 1-A he will not be paired with anyone." Mr Aizawa said in a voice as if that should have been the most obvious thing in the world.

A small uproar came from the student, claiming that it was unfair that Izuku should have to fight by himself. Then Gizon said, "I think he can do it. There's a reason why out of all the other course students, he's the only one who has a chance to transfer before summer break."

Izuku smiled as Gizon's words made him a bit more confident going in. He knew his armor could take a hit, and the exoskeleton gave him the strength of ten men. Looking over the teachers, Izuku remembered all his notes about them, and facing any of them with their handicaps, he had a chance. There were a few he would be more worried about, but it was his dream to become a pro hero, and he wasn't going to stop fighting until he gave everything he had.

Now, if there are no more questions, we can move on." Principal Nezu announced, "For this coming fight, each pair will face off against a teacher and have two opportunities to win. They can either try to get a pair of handcuffs on their opponent." Principal Nezu pulled out a pair of handcuffs from behind his back, "It can either be on a wrist or ankle, and only one cuff needs to be secure. Or each pair can try to run through the exam area and make it to the exit gate on the other side. Only one student from each pair needs to cross through the gate, and either option will result in you passing and will not affect your individual grade.

"Now for the pairs. First will be Shoto Todoroki and Momo Yaoyorozu. You two will be facing off against your homeroom teacher, Eraserhead. Next will be Gizon Hisahito and Minoru Mineta." Everyone tossed a glance at Gizon, who had his neutral expression, which quickly changed to one of annoyance at the announcement of what teacher he would face: "You two will be going up against Midnight.

"Denki Kaminari and Mina Ashido, you will be facing me." Denki raised his hand, "I might not be in the front line, but I do still hold a pro hero license." Denki lowered his hand; he couldn't explain, but for some reason, that made him more terrified of Principal Nezu. "Tsuyu Asui and Fumikage Tokoyami will go against Ectoplasma. Tenya Iida and Mashiro Ojirou will be sparring against Powerloader."

Izuku had been a bit surprised to see his homeroom teacher in the lineup. Maybe it was because he saw Powerloader inventing more often than fighting, but Izuku had never taken him as a fighter. Though that didn't mean Izuku didn't think he could fight, he was sure his homeroom teacher would have whatever battlefield he fought in loaded with inventions to use against Iida and Ojirou.

"Then we have Kyoka Jirou and Koji Koda against Present Mic."

"Let's rock and roll, little listeners." Present Mic said, and Jirou could already imagine the piercing headache she was going to get because of his quirk.

"Hanta Sero and Yuga Aoyama are next and they will be facing Thirteen. Toru Hagakure and Mezo Shoji will be against Snipe." Principal Nezu said.

Ochaco was running through the list of remaining classmates and looking over the teachers, only to come to a horrible realization. As Izuku was already slated to fight on his own, the only person left to be Ochaco's partner was Katsuki Bakugo. Then, as Ochaco didn't think it could get any worse, she realized all the teachers standing in front of the class already had a pairing. And as it is unlikely they were going to fight against Vlad King, that left only one first-year teacher who could possibly be her and Bakugo's opponents.

"That leaves Ochaco Uraraka and Katsuki Bakugo to face…." Principal Nezu was cut off by Ochaco, and Bakugo's opponent, giving a loud laugh that emanated from the top of City Beta's outer wall. The next second, a large figure landed behind Mr Aizawa and the Principal, "I AM HERE TO SEE IF YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BECOME A PRO HERO."

Bakugo got a sadistic grin; it looked like he wasn't going to have to wait any longer to prove that he was going to be stronger than All Might. On the other hand, Ochaco felt a pit form in her stomach. It was so heavy that she didn't think her primary quirk would be able to help.

Ochaco couldn't help but think that she was going to die. She turned and looked over at Gizon, who had a look as if to say, "Well, good luck. Hope you have your will written." Ochaco was 15, of course, she didn't have a written will.

Izuku tossed All Might his weighted bands, then raised his hand to say, "Question. Who will I be facing? I don't see Vlad King anyway." Izuku was really hoping it was someone like Eraserhead or Midnight. Erasure won't work, seeing Mr Aizawa won't be able to see body parts, and the suit would filter out any of the gas Midnight's quirk created.

"Ah, yes Sutaku, you too will be facing All Might. For that, Uraraka and Bakugo's exam will be after Kaminari and Ashido's." Principal Nezu casually said, while alarms started to go off in Izuku's mind. The one teacher, the one pro hero, Izuku hoped he wouldn't get. Sure, his armor was able to take a few hits from the black nomu during the Hosu attack, but that was not without suffering sufficient damage. All Might was about to throw more punches with more power, but Izuku would be his only target. How was he supposed to pass?

While Ochaco looked like she had already accepted dea…. defeat, Izuku looked like he had turned to stone.

"And you can not simply run to the exit gate; you will be forced to stand your ground and fight. Otherwise, you will fail." Principal Nezu said, and the teachers started to walk away to their individual exam areas. But then Mr Aizawa said and called over his shoulder, "Todoroki, Yaoyorozu report to City Fanta in ten minutes. Everyone else, you can plan with your partner or meet Recovery Girl in the observation room for City Beta to watch the other exams."

Izuku's heart didn't just skip a beat. It felt like it had entirely stopped, as if he had died from shock. How was he supposed to stand his ground and fight against the Symbol of Peace, Japan's Number One Pro Hero, World's Strongest Man, All Might?

A few members of Class 1-A gather around Izuku. His face was pale and his hair looked a bit more white as if the color had been scared out of it. If it wasn't for his suit, he would have collapsed to the ground and passed out. The only sign of life was green sparks of electricity that were rapidly shooting back and forth behind his eyes.

"You think he's okay." Kirishima asked as Izuku hadn't moved since being told who he was going up against.

"It appears as if his mortal soul has left his plane of existence." Tokoyami said.

"Mr Kaminari." Jabisu suddenly called out from the helmet, making Denki perk up a bit before remembering Izuku's virtual assistant/butler, "If you would be so kind as to place your hand against the arc reactor."

"Um, okay," Denki said and placed his palm flat against the arc reactor. The next second, a large zap occurred, and Denki quickly withdrew his hand. He started shaking it, "How in the world did that hurt me?"

Suddenly, Izuku took a deep breath and started to move around. "What happened?"

"You alright, it looked like you were having a panic attack." Gizon said.

"Sorry sir, but I had to use Mr Kaminari's quirk to administer a mild shock as you were falling into a panic state." Jabisu said.

"I was having a panic attack?" Izuku asked. He thought he had gotten over that, but then he remembered the riot that occurred during the break-in. "Thanks, Jabisu.

"You call that a mild shock. It felt like you took a chuck of my quirk's power." Denki said as he was rubbing his palm.

"Sorry Kaminari, since my body is used to handling so much voltage, Jabisu required a lot of foreign electricity for my body to register it." Izuku said. It won't be a good thing to leave Denki low on power going into a fight against Principal Nezu. Then Izuku got an idea, "I think I've got something that will help."

Izuku offered his hand as if he were going in for a handshake, "Your body can absorb electricity from a foreign source."

"Yeah. I keep a power bank in my backpack I sometimes use after class." Denki said, taking hold of Izuku's hand. He suddenly felt two small prongs press into his skin.

"Jabisu, discharge half a million volts, from the right hand at an amp of .5." Izuku said, and Denki felt electricity flowing into his hand.

"Oh, I felt a bit supercharged and why can I suddenly understand math." Denki questioned. A few seconds later, the flow of electricity stopped and the feeling disappeared, though he still felt a bit buzzed, "Thanks Midoriya, I feel recharged."

"You're welcome Kaminari." Izuku said as he withdrew his hand.
