The electric sightseeing vehicle made very little noise, and coupled with the flat ground of the 'Abandoned Warehouse,' it could be said that the vehicle traveled smoothly and steadily.
Except for the occasional puddles.
Lan sat in the passenger seat, flipping through the documents in her hand, and gradually gained an understanding of the so-called Backrooms.
Although Level 1 does not explicitly state whether it is infinite, the explored area is extremely vast, so finding the M.E.G. base is not an easy task.
Sizzle...
Just as Yang Tao was driving the electric car at twenty miles per hour, the incandescent light above his head suddenly emitted a much louder electrical sound than usual.
The next moment, the incandescent light went out directly, and the surroundings plunged into darkness.
"Ah..."
Lan, who had been engrossed in the documents, was startled by the sudden power outage and subconsciously grabbed Yang Tao's arm.
"Your behavior is very much like those green tea bitches in movies who intentionally throw themselves into a man's arms..."
Yang Tao's remark brought Lan back to her senses, and she quickly released his hand, saying, "I'm sorry, I... I'm usually quite afraid of the dark."
"Heh heh, afraid of the dark normally? Then congratulations, from today onwards, you'll become fear itself."
"Wh-What do you mean?"
"Welcome to the Backrooms."
This power outage was extremely abnormal; normally, only three or four incandescent lights in Level 1 would go out, but now, both in front and behind them, everything was plunged into darkness.
Yang Tao turned on the modified headlights of the sightseeing vehicle, and in an instant, white light dispelled the original darkness.
Hounds, the Duller, and even Wretches, which Yang Tao had never seen before, appeared in the darkness, but...
They didn't seem to be coming for him... but as soon as he turned on the lights, he attracted the attention of these Entities...
Wretches are humanoid Entities, often described as behaving like the living dead or Zombies.
These Entities were once human, transformed through a process called the "Wretch Cycle," which is believed to stem from the deprivation of vital nutrients such as food, water, and sleep.
Wretches are common throughout the Backrooms, and due to their nature, they hide in the shadows wherever humans gather.
The "Wretch Cycle" lasts for several weeks to several months.
The behavior of a typical Wretch is similar to that of a Skin Stealer, possessing little intelligence but astonishing strength. However, few Wretches exhibit intelligence or even human-like behavior, or are capable of crafting or wielding weapons.
The appearance of Wretches often varies greatly. Fully infected Wretches have reddish-brown skin that is dry and flaky, covered with holes and pustules, secreting a thick layer of reddish-brown substance.
Mutations are common among Wretches, often leading to dislocated eyes, dismembered or extra limbs, and even fleshy, skeletal "wings."
One common and terrifying mutation appears as a deformed mass of flesh, almost entirely composed of eyes, mouths, and other orifices of unknown purpose.
Overall, these Wretches look extremely unappetizing.
The number of Entities that suddenly appeared in the darkness was extremely large; there were forty to fifty Wretches and Hounds alone, and even more Entities surged from the darkness in the distance.
"Ah!"
"Shut up, screaming also counts as time."
Yang Tao directly raised his hand.
Bang!
A bullet imbued with the power of flame shot out from the muzzle. Yang Tao leaped from the sightseeing vehicle, and as he landed, a large amount of obsidian appeared in his hand.
Thump thump thump...
Bang... bang...
The sound of gunfire and the sound of blocks being placed rang out simultaneously, and at the same time, a wooden door had appeared behind him.
One after another, burly Iron Golems emerged from the wooden door, and after they came out of the doorway, they took out the 'cleavers' from behind them.
Their scarlet eyes looked extremely terrifying in the darkness.
"Charge! Slaughter them, leave no one behind!"
The sound of metal and concrete ground colliding rang out. With the enhancement of the 'Cobalt Ore' and 'Lightweight' characteristics, the speed of these Mutated Iron Golems became even faster.
They showed no fear of those terrifying Entities; Yang Tao's command was their will.
In less than ten seconds, Lan was surrounded by Yang Tao with obsidian, and finally, an iron door was placed. Looking at Lan, who hadn't reacted yet, Yang Tao showed a bloodthirsty smile:
"Stay inside obediently, I'm going to have some fun with those Entities..."
A sizzling sound inexplicably appeared from within Yang Tao's body; this was the sound emitted by the Lightning in a Bottle in his backpack.
The reason it made a sound in his backpack was because it was no longer related to the Backrooms.
Lightning in a Bottle
Accessory

PS: An advance payment from a 'merchant,' though it wants your life.
Yang Tao's speed became extremely fast under the influence of Speed II.
Bang.
A Hound in the distance had its head blown off by a single bullet from him.
"Energy value delivered right to my doorstep!"
Bang...
"How interesting!"
A Wretch was engulfed in raging flames, illuminating the surroundings, and a tragic scream echoed through the 'Abandoned Warehouse.'
The revolver was out of bullets, and a piece of obsidian took its place. It wasn't a palm-sized mini-form, but a standard one-meter square, real size.
He used all his strength to smash it onto the head of a Smiler that appeared behind him. Its already exaggerated smiling face distorted, and its glowing teeth immediately flew out.
"Gak gak..."
The Smiler let out a duck-like laugh, and the glowing-faced family that had originally surrounded him immediately paused.
It was almost in the blink of an eye.
This group of Smilers scattered and fled in the direction they came from without looking back, and soon all of them disappeared from Yang Tao's sight.
Yang Tao: "..."
Looking at the last remaining Smiler, Yang Tao instantly roared in rage, "Damn it, stand still for me, if you move, I'll dismember you!"
He quickly surrounded this Smiler with obsidian, determined to find out what these Smilers were spreading.
Why did they run when they saw him?
He didn't look ugly like a Wretch, nor did he exude the inexplicable pressure of a beast.
He was just an ordinary Steve, what was there to be afraid of? Wouldn't it be better to just come over and contribute energy value?
After he surrounded the Smiler, Yang Tao re-entered the battle. The Entities on Level 1 were generally not strong, but Yang Tao inexplicably got poisoned again.
He took out a bottle of Regeneration Potion from his backpack and chugged it down. Looking at the Entities being slaughtered by the Iron Golems in the darkness, a question popped into Yang Tao's mind:
'Why did these Entities suddenly appear in such a cluster?'
Suddenly, he remembered the descriptions of the bases and outposts of various organizations.
However, the confined space of Level 2 and the relatively frequent Entity incursions made it difficult for the still small and expanding M.E.G. to maintain its hold.
If it were just one or two Entity incursions, M.E.G. wouldn't abandon its base on Level 2. This could only mean they suffered massive Entity incursions, just like... this.
'So, there's a human group nearby?'
