Pills which could rapidly give a large amount of spirit qi did exist, but it was not advisable to use them to cultivate, as it ruins the foundation.
Slow and steady refinement through gentle spirit qi provided much better results than a sudden burst of external spirit qi.
Having a good foundation was very important for the cultivation path. You could easily overcome most bottlenecks in your journey if everything was perfect from the start.
So no one who had a chance to reach higher realms would ever try to improve their cultivation with pills meant for increasing the cultivation realm tremendously.
