Cherreads

Chapter 3 - Cultivating

Lin Feng nodded, he didn't care if he got a junior brother or not, maybe a junior sister would have been fine, so if in future his master took another disciple, then he would make sure it was a junior sister.

While thinking, he sighed inwardly. Was he previously a lecher or something? Why was he so keen on women? The moment he thought that, the body of his master appeared in his thoughts, and his blood boiled immediately. He bit his tongue to calm himself down.

"What happened?" His strange expression did not go unnoticed by Xuan Xue, hence she asked immediately.

"Nothing, master, looks like some lingering pain due to injury. It will go away."

Xuan Xue looked at him strangely, as he was lying. But it wasn't a big deal, so she let it go.

"Remember, the cultivation technique I practice is called Frozen Heart Mantra. It gives the ability to read through one's heart. I can easily tell when you are lying or not."

Lin Feng became stunned. He would remember this thoroughly.

"Anyway, this will be your abode from now on. It is my abode too... you are not allowed to go into the sect, as it is a female-only disciple sect.

And because of this, you cannot practice the sect's main cultivation technique, which can only be practiced by women.

But you don't have to worry about it, as I have prepared some books for you and a cultivation technique. Try it. If it does not work, you can change them later. There is a library pavilion on this peak beside this abode. You can go there and choose any cultivation technique you like. Also, you can get all the books with knowledge about the world there."

Lin Feng got surprised. So this was a female-only sect. The moment he heard that he could not practice the sect's cultivation technique, he also understood the reason why. It must be something which requires maidenhood or, basically, preserved Yin essence to cultivate it.

It looked like his knowledge about the cultivation world was quite high. It was surprising since he was only 14 years old. Something really felt odd here.

"Ok, master."

"Good. You should take rest and explore the peak later. I am going to cultivate in the next room. Feel free to ask any doubts you have, and do not worry about disturbing me, as I am not deeply cultivating for the time being," Xuan Xue said and entered the next room.

Lin Feng looked outside and decided to see how the peak looked.

He came out and immediately felt cold. The whole peak was covered in a thick layer of snow. This was beyond his expectations, his room was totally warm.

He moved for some time and saw various small pavilions, but all looked empty. It seemed there was no one on this peak other than his master and him.

He came to the edge and looked down. There were other peaks, but they were smaller than this peak. He could see a big space nestled between these peaks, it definitely was the Frozen Heart Sect.

He could see some disciples, but they were too far to clearly see them.

Since his master was living on the biggest peak alone, it was given that her status was definitely quite high in the sect.

He went back and decided to visit the library pavilion. It would give him all the knowledge he needed for the time being. He was totally blank right now, he did not even know how he arrived here or who he was before.

He came in front of the biggest pavilion on the peak and entered easily, as no one was guarding it. There were three shelves here, one was holding cultivation techniques, one was holding knowledge about resources in this world, and the last one was knowledge about the world.

He took some books and sat down on the spot.

...

He stood up only after a 2 hours when he read the books for resources and world... he got complete knowledge of this world. It was ruled by three sects: Frozen Heart Sect in the North, Yin Yang Harmony Sect in the East, and Crimson Flame Palace in the South. The West was ruled by spirit beasts.

Overall, everything seemed quite perfectly balanced, but he knew it was not the case.

Frozen Heart Sect, as expected, was a sect of maidens who had to maintain their purity to cultivate the main cultivation technique of the sect.

Although all these sects seemed equally strong, he had a feeling that his own sect was the strongest. The reason was simple, because till now, it was still standing.

A place filled with pure maidens was a prime target for a dual cultivation sect. Forget about them, even if it were any other sect, they would have definitely tried to capture all the women.

So it was given that his sect was quite strong to be able to hold till now. How long, he did not know, or maybe those two sects never joined hands till now. This wasn't knowledge he could find in books.

Lin Feng shook his head. For the time being, he should start his own cultivation. The cultivation world did not seem foreign to him. The moment he heard about it, he got all the knowledge about it.

Cultivating required a spiritual root. It was easy to figure out if you had one or not, take any cultivation technique and try to sense spiritual qi according to the mentioned steps.

If you were able to sense it, then you had a spiritual root. Otherwise, you did not have it.

If you did not have it, then you were a mortal. Although these types of humans only existed in the lower realm, and the world he was currently in was an upper realm. So, he would definitely have a spiritual root.

Now comes the cultivation part. It was done with the help of cultivation techniques. There were many types of cultivation techniques available in the whole universe, but they were all derived from the same basic technique which the heavens had bestowed to humans.

Cultivation techniques were divided into multiple grades. These were based on the techniques you gained after cultivating them and the strength of qi refinement you could achieve with them.

There were five types based on this: lower grade, normal grade, spirit grade, heaven grade, and celestial grade. All grades had sub-grades of lesser, higher, and peak.

You could cultivate as many cultivation techniques as you wanted... but not many did that, as in the end, you would always use techniques from your strongest cultivation technique, so mastering more was just a waste of time. If you were an ordinary cultivator, then it was even more true.

Lin Feng went through all the cultivation techniques present here and sighed ruefully.

"They all are too low."

The highest cultivation technique here was lesser spirit grade. It was expected, as his world was very small among all the upper worlds, so the quality of resources here was low. Naturally, the powers residing here were not much stronger either.

Well, cultivation techniques really did not matter. He could cultivate a good one later. He chose one at random, Heavenly Fire Lotus Art.

"Tsk... what a domineering name for a lesser spirit grade cultivation technique."

He started reading it, and when he finished reading, he was stunned. Somehow, he had mastered it. It was as if, if he had qi, he could have used all the techniques till Nascent Soul Realm, as it was only available till that realm.

He really was stunned now. There were few possibilities he could think of now.

First, in the past, he had cultivated this cultivation technique. Second, his level of cultivation was too high, and he had cultivated till Nascent Soul Realm. Because of this, cultivating a weaker cultivation technique than his original one was far easier in that case.

Given how he had not even started the cultivation and his body was mortal, he discarded both situations.

"Who the fuck am I?" Now he really wanted to know who he was. The knowledge he got momentarily was not something anyone could get without having years of experience.

Was he really a young 15-year-old mortal? He sighed inwardly. He really could not figure out anything. Maybe someday he would. Before that, he would just take everything as if he really knew it completely, without getting surprised.

It was time to cultivate. The moment he tried sensing qi, it felt natural to him, and he was able to sense it immediately.

He immediately began to absorb it according to the cultivation technique he had learned just now. He could see the qi threads enter his body from various pores, but it was too slow.

Just as he was going to continue absorbing, he lost concentration, and the qi dissipated. He got stunned. It was not like he could not cultivate, it was like his inner self did not allow it.

Qi Refinement Realm was very simple. All you had to do was to open the meridians to advance further. There were a total of 12 meridians.

All the cultivation realms were divided into four sub-parts: Early Stage, Mid Stage, Higher Stage, and Peak Stage.

For Qi Refinement Realm, if you had opened 1 to 3 meridians, then you would be in Early Stage; 4 to 6, Mid Stage; 7 to 9, Higher Stage; and finally 10 to 12, Peak Stage.
