Chapter 160: Red vs. Zeus!! (Part 2)

After a long moment, the lightning and smoke dissipated.
"Gen..."
Gengar, covered in dust, struggled up from the ground, looking utterly exhausted. Clearly, that attack had dealt heavy damage.
The force of that move was so strong it had even smashed a small crater into the metal wall behind it. Fortunately, the wall held, not being some shoddy construction, so no large pieces of debris came crashing down.
The surrounding metal floor was also pitted and riddled with cracks, a testament to the terrifying might of that Thunder Punch.
"Is that all you've got? It seems I overestimated you." Watching Gengar's movements and its half-kneeling posture, Zeus couldn't help but laugh wildly.
Even Electivire looked down on Gengar condescendingly. With the two black bars over its eyes, it arrogantly beckoned with a finger, exuding the intense air of a major villain.
"It's not Vital Spirit," Red suddenly uttered.
Zeus's brow furrowed. He didn't know if Red had said that casually or with intent.
Bzzzt... The surrounding Electric Terrain dissipated, and the dim, yellow filter over the world vanished with it, instantly clearing the senses.
Due to the excessive external electrical energy consumed by the previous two-fisted Thunder Punch, the Electric Terrain, which should have lasted for five turns, disappeared after only two.
"But that other thing hasn't disappeared," Red spoke again. He then looked up at Zeus, his cold, clear eyes seeming to see right through him. He gave no command, simply waiting for Zeus to give his next order.
Despite having an overwhelming advantage, being stared at like this made Zeus inexplicably uneasy. He felt as if his plan had already been seen through.
"Impossible! Even that old hag Agatha couldn't see through my plan!"
He had prepared this move specifically for the day Team Rocket would face the Pokémon League head-on, to be used against the Ghost-type Elite Four member, Agatha.
Zeus shook his head. Gengar was undoubtedly cornered, its back against the wall with nowhere to run. This was the perfect moment for the strategy he had planned from the start. Without further hesitation, he roared:
"Now, Electivire, use Giga Impact!!"
"Gzraaargh!!" Electivire let out a ferocious roar. It clasped its fists together in front of its body, its aura flaring as it charged forward.
In the next second, a terrifying pink energy surged around its body, spiraling around its form as its power multiplied exponentially.
Boom! Boom! Boom! The pink energy completely enveloped Electivire's body in the form of a spiraling shockwave. Even though it was on a metal floor, its terrifying force carved a shocking trench in its wake.
Giga Impact, the ultimate Normal-type move.
"Don't dodge. Let it get closer," Red instructed slowly, raising an eyebrow.
Giga Impact has no effect on Ghost-type Pokémon.
Does this guy take me for an idiot?
But this was also the perfect opportunity for a counterattack. Red held his breath, watching the incoming attack with great anticipation.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! The power and energy of the Giga Impact's shockwave reached their peak. A terrifying roar echoed in the ears, and the entire secret basement began to shake.
"Not dodging?" A triumphant smile spread across Zeus's lips. He grinned savagely and yelled:
"That's it, use Giga Impact!!"
Just as it was a meter away from Gengar, a sudden change occurred. A teal and yellow energy erupted from the surrounding metal floor, rising up as if it had a will of its own, or rather, as if drawn by a magnetic force. It all surged madly towards the Electivire in its Giga Impact state.
BZZZZZT! The moment the teal and yellow energy made contact with the Giga Impact's energy wave, its aura changed drastically. Electric currents crackled loudly, and the originally pink shockwave instantly turned into a golden one, now suffused with a terrifying electric current!!
Bzzzzzt! The electric current raged violently!!
"Didn't see that coming, hahaha!!?" Zeus's pupils constricted as he laughed maniacally.
Ion Deluge. This was a new move developed outside the Kanto Region. It could release a strange plasma force field, changing its own Normal-type moves into Electric-type ones.
When Electivire first released the Electric Terrain, it had also secretly used Ion Deluge, all for the sake of forcing Gengar into a corner with no escape, then unleashing the Normal-type Giga Impact.
His opponent would even think he was a fool for attacking Gengar with a Normal-type move, thus choosing not to dodge and waiting for an opportunity to counterattack.

"Oh, I figured that out from the beginning."
Zeus: "?"
Although plasma is different from electricity and is a special energy invisible to the naked eye, the extra movements Electivire made when it first set up the Electric Terrain did not escape his eyes.

That was why he had been going along with his opponent's intentions, allowing Gengar to be blasted by two heavy punches into a corner with no escape, waiting for the opponent's Normal-type attack.
To be honest, he had even wanted to laugh midway through.
"Have you forgotten something?" Red asked again, attempting to shatter his mental fortitude.
Before Zeus could react, Gengar, which had seemed to be preparing a counterattack, suddenly stopped moving. In truth, it had never intended to counterattack at all.
"Gengar-gar." Gengar suddenly revealed a wide, toothy grin. Then, like dropping into water, its chubby body let out a *shloop* and phased right through the metal floor, vanishing without a trace.
Zeus: "?"
"Gzraargh!!" But the lightning-infused Giga Impact couldn't be stopped. In the next second, it shot past Gengar's previous position and slammed violently into the metal wall.
BOOOM! Instantly, the entire secret basement shook as if by an earthquake, the tremors spreading upwards and even affecting the Game Corner above. The basement hall itself was a scene of devastation, with countless metal fragments bursting outward amidst a surge of smoke and shockwaves.
A quick glance revealed that Electivire had smashed a dent into the metal wall nearly a meter deep—an absurd depth!!
Bzz... The powerful recoil also left Electivire dazed. Having crashed headfirst into the wall, it couldn't help but stumble back a few steps, its footing unsteady, its face covered in debris and dust.
If Gengar had phased through the wall behind it, it would have likely been crushed to death along with the wall.
Taking advantage of the powerful recoil from Giga Impact, Red brushed off the metal debris from his clothes and gave his command:
"Gengar, you can come out now."
"Gen!!" The words had barely left his mouth when Gengar's plump body shot up from beneath the metal floor. It came face-to-face with Electivire, its two blood-red pupils emitting strange ripples.
"This Electivire's Ability isn't Vital Spirit, the Electric Terrain has already disappeared, and now it's at point-blank range," Red rattled off several key facts.
Electivire has two possible Abilities. One is Motor Drive, and the other is Vital Spirit, which prevents it from ever falling asleep.
Previously, when Electivire used Thunder Punch, it drew power from the surrounding Electric Terrain. When the electric current passed through its body, although the effect was subtle, Red still observed its movements quicken for an instant. This proved that its Ability was not Vital Spirit, but Motor Drive.
Electric Terrain itself also has the effect of preventing Pokémon on the field from falling asleep, and it has now disappeared.
The immobility from Giga Impact ensured Gengar could get into extreme, face-to-face range with it.
Having calculated all of this, Red finally spoke slowly, as if he were holding the script.
"This Hypnosis... is a guaranteed hit."
