Chapter 8 - The Storm That Devoured The Moon

---

Scene 1: First Blood / The Hunter's Dance

The courtyard trembles as Kairos blurs forward—his blade aimed for Yua's throat. She pivots, her coat flaring like wings, and counters with a slash that sends sparks flying.

Yua (grinning): "Still relying on cheap tricks, First Rank?"

Their clash carves fissures into the stone beneath them. Every strike is precise—Yua fights with the grace of experience; Kairos with the desperation of a man outmatched but refusing to break.

---

Scene 2: Swift Step Revelation (Twist)

Kairos vanishes mid-swing—only to reappear behind Yua in a crackle of displaced air. His elbow slams into her spine before she can react.

Yua (coughing blood): "Since when… do you know, Swift Step?" The technique is high-tier Hunting Realm mastery, reserved for elites like her—yet here he is, wielding it flawlessly.

Scene 3: The Lightning Gambit (Power Shift)

Kairos doesn't answer—his body flickers with blue static as he (teleports again), this time landing a brutal kick to Yua's ribs. The impact sends her skidding across the courtyard, dirt spraying in her wake.

Yua (internally): This isn't Swift Step… This is something else.

Before she can rise, Kairos is already upon her—his blade humming with electricity.

---

Scene 4: The Eclipseborn Revealed – "Stormfang's Howl"

Kairos' veins (pulse black) as his Eclipseborn—"Serketh"—awakens. Lightning erupts from his blade, but it isn't clean energy—it's jagged, feral, more like a beast's teeth snapping at the air. His eyes flicker with unstable amber light as he speaks through gritted fangs:

Kairos: "...Tch. Still fighting me even now...!" (His Eclipseborn is resisting full control.)

Yua barely dodges as Kairos (moves like thunder given form), his strikes leaving afterimages of snarling wolf jaws in the charged air. She blocks one blow, but her sword arm goes numb from the voltage—Serketh isn't just lightning; it carries (the weight of a storm's hunger).

---

Scene 5: Yua Forced to Adapt – "Hunt or Be Hunted"

Yua wipes blood from her lip and adjusts her stance—no longer treating this like a duel between hunters. This is survival against something half-feral now.

Scene 6: The Predator's Dilemma – "Blood Moon Pact"

Yua digs her fingers into the wound on her arm—her own blood (smoking) as it reacts to Kairos' electrified presence. With a snarl, she slams her crimson-coated palm onto the ground, activating "Blood Chains"—a forbidden hunter technique that temporarily binds an Eclipseborn by exploiting its predatory instincts against itself.

The earth erupts in chains of crystallized blood, latching onto Serketh's lightning and forcing it into visible form: a (twisted wolf of storm and static), snapping at the air.

Kairos (gasping): "You—! Since when do you know executioner techniques?!"

Yua (cold): "Since I stopped playing by their rules."

Scene 7: Distant Echoes (Ryo's Sense)

Ryo's breath hitches as he feels a surge in the air—not the cool embrace of his own Seishu, but something (feral and angry). He knows that sensation all too well, like a heartbeat out of rhythm, a wrongness clawing at the back of his mind. It's coming from Yua, and it's close to tipping over the edge.

He breaks into a run, instinct urging him towards the source of the disturbance. Yua's in trouble, and he has no time to waste.

Scene 8: Eclipseborn Supremacy – "Lightning Tears Through Bone"

Serketh fully overrides Kairos' restraint—the storm-wolf's jaws manifest around his blade as he plunges it downward. Yua barely raises her sword in time, but the impact (shatters) it, sending molten shards of metal carving into her torso. She stumbles back, coughing blood—her stance broken for the first time in the fight.

Kairos (voice distorted): "This is what happens when you abandon duty...!" Lightning wreathes him like a vengeful halo as he (vanishes), reappearing above her with his foot slamming into her spine—

CRACK.

---

Scene 9: The Hunter Falls – "No More Games"

Yua crashes onto shattered stone, gasping as Serketh's residual charge locks her muscles in agonizing spasms. Kairos lands beside her, his boot pressing down on her ribs—(methodically), like a predator savoring the kill. His Eclipseborn's howl drowns out all other sound as he raises his crackling blade for the execution strike.

Scene 10: Light in Darkness – "Hope's Beacon"

Ryo stumbles into the clearing, eyes widening in horror as he glimpses Yua—(broken and bloodied)—beneath Kairos' merciless blade. Something within him (shatters) as his dormant Seishu stirs at last, rising like a tidal wave to answer this call of fate.

His (body glows with radiant blue light), casting away the shadows that haunt this place. Ryo's fists clench tight, and his eyes blaze with newfound resolve. He won't let Yua die like this.

But before Ryo can make his move—

THWACK.

Scene 11: The Killing Stroke – "A Hunter's Mercy"

Kairos' blade plunges down—too fast to stop, too final to deny.

The sound it makes is wet. Terrible. Final.

Yua's body jerks once—her breath escaping in a choked gasp as scarlet blooms across her chest, her lavender eyes dimming like stars swallowed by storm clouds. Her fingers twitch toward Ryo for the briefest moment… then go still. (Forever).

---

Scene 12: Ryo's Collapse – "The World Cracks Apart"

Ryo doesn't even realize he's screaming until his throat is raw. He stumbles forward, knees hitting the blood-soaked earth hard enough to bruise bone, hands trembling above Yua's lifeless form—(not touching), because if he touches her it becomes real and—

Kairos (cold, detached): "It had to be done." He yanks his blade free with a sickening pull. "She chose treason over loyalty... over, you."

His words slit between Ryo's ribs sharper than any knife:

Kairos (voice like a death knell): "She was dead the moment she abandoned the Hunting Realm. The only difference is... now, you can bury her."

He steps back, letting Yua's blood drip onto the ground between them—each drop a hammer-strike to Ryo's soul.

"Tell me, boy... does it hurt worse knowing she died for nothing?" Kairos tilts his head as Ryo's breath hitches. "All those promises… all that strength… and in the end? She was just meat on my blade."

---

Scene 13: Echoes of Her Voice (Flashback Overload)

Ryo's vision fractures—suddenly he's not here, not in this nightmare:

- Yua laughing, flicking his forehead during training: "You hit like a kitten!"

- Her hand gripping his shoulder under moonlight after their first battle together: "We survive this. Together."

- The way her eyes softened when she said his name—just once, so quietly it could have been the wind—

Now those same eyes stare through him. Empty.

Kairos (leaning down, voice a venomous whisper): "You could have walked away. You were never part of this war. But she dragged you into her ruin... and look where it got her."

He flicks his wrist, splattering Ryo's face with Yua's blood—a grotesque baptism.

"This is the cost of defying fate."

---

Scene 14: The Ghost of What Was (Flashbacks in the Ashes)

The world drowns in white noise as memories surge—each one a knife twisting deeper:

- Yua grinning, bruised but victorious after sparring: "See? You do, have potential."

- Her rolling her eyes when he complained about training at dawn, tossing him an apple: "Hunters don't sleep in, (kid)." (But she stayed to watch the sunrise with him anyway.)

- The unshakable warmth of her back pressed against his during battle—the certainty that no matter what came, they'd face it (together).

Now her body is cooling in his arms. The apple lies rotting somewhere forgotten.

Scene 15: The Last Straw – "Lost Innocence"

The world blurs. The air warps with a pulse of power.

Kairos staggers back, eyes widening as Ryo's as he sits there staring—at Yua's lifeless corpse. His tear-streaked cheeks are set in a snarl of rage and grief and hate.

Ryo (broken-hearted whispers): "What... does it mean to be a hunter...?"

---

Scene 15: "The Day the Sky itself died."

Kairos turns back curios about his thought and then speaks

Kairos (smirking, wiping blood from his blade): "A hunter? It means carrying the weight of death—until it crushes you... or makes you something, (more)." "Think about this kid, "Prayers don't reach corpses. Vengeance does."

He turns away, leaving Ryo kneeling in the ruins of everything they fought for—his hands stained crimson, his soul fractured. The wind howls through the battlefield like a dirge.

Final Scene: "A Soundless Howl"

Ryo's fingers dig into the dirt, nails splitting as he (chokes) on air that won't fill his lungs. His body shakes—not with tears, but something deeper, something (primal). A pressure builds in his chest, cracking ribs from within. His Seishu—once dormant—now (ruptures) outward in a shockwave of cerulean fire. The ground fractures beneath him.

Kairos (eyes widening): "You—?!"*

But Ryo isn't listening. The world is noise and rage and HER NAME IN HIS TEETH. He doesn't realize he's standing until his fist is already halfway to Kairos' throat—and this time?

There is no technique. No finesse. Only "the raw fury of a boy who just watched the sky itself die".
