Cherreads

Chapter 3 - 3. Take the things first and then burn the house. I am the arson king of Liyue

Shimokawa.

It was morning, and most of the men in the fishing village had already gone out to fish, while the remaining people were constantly searching through the former village chief's house.

A middle-aged woman stopped her search, looked up, and said to the others, "How come there's nothing here?"

The few pieces of furniture in the house had long been moved out, and the little remaining food had been completely divided.

But people were still unwilling to give up, hoping to find some Mora or other valuable items.

"Impossible, how could that old man have only left her so little?" someone replied without looking up.

"Could that dead girl have taken it? No, that's not possible either." An old woman had just posed the question, then immediately negated it herself.

The people searching did not notice that outside the village chief's house, in the houses that originally belonged to them, flames were burning fiercely, as if to consume everything.

In the distance, only two small receding figures remained.

...

Haruto had already put the few thin cloth clothes and some food that Kaede had secretly brought back into his backpack interface. At this moment, he was examining the small amount of Mora he had found in some of the houses.

The Mora had characters representing its denomination engraved on it. The writing of Teyvat was different from that of his previous life, and different nations also had different scripts.

Logically, Haruto should not have recognized the writing of this world, but now he could recognize the characters on it without any hindrance.

Haruto was delighted with this discovery. He held the Mora in his hand and put it into his storage space.

Then he turned his head and asked Kaede beside him.

"Did you only take these few things?"

Kaede looked at Haruto's way of putting things away in surprise. Hearing Haruto's words, she finally reacted, then shook her head: "No need, there wasn't much to begin with."

"Alright then, let's go now. Let's set off for Minato Harbor." Haruto didn't say much more and led Kaede south.

...

"Haruto."

"Hmm?"

"What do you think Minato Harbor will be like?" On the way to Minato Harbor, Kaede looked at Haruto curiously, her tone filled with anticipation for a beautiful future.

"Minato Harbor, let me think..." Haruto recalled what Minato Harbor looked like in the game.

After a moment of thought, he slowly began to speak, saying, "As the most prosperous place in all of Liyue, Minato Harbor's docks see countless ships coming and going every day, and the streets are bustling with people."

"Some people are busy running around for their livelihoods, while others live leisurely lives enjoying themselves."

"There, you will be able to see many things you have never seen before."

"Its splendor cannot be explained in a few words by me; you need to see it with your own eyes."

Seeing Haruto speak so eloquently, Kaede tilted her head, as if she remembered something, and a happy smile appeared on her face.

She opened her mouth and asked, "Didn't you say before that you couldn't remember many things? How do you know all this?"

Haruto replied without hesitation, "I just remembered."

He lied without even batting an eye.

Kaede naturally didn't believe him. She pouted and rolled her eyes at Haruto, "I don't think there's a single truthful word from your mouth."

Kaede didn't really care whether he was telling the truth or not.

Now that Haruto didn't want to talk about some things, she wouldn't ask anymore.

Whatever Haruto was willing to say, she would believe; wherever Haruto wanted to go, she would go.

...

Guili Plains.

In a Hilichurl camp in a forest.

As the last Hilichurl dissipated, turning into white light and returning to the ley lines.

Haruto and Kaede opened the exquisite treasure chest in front of them. Inside were some ores, Mora, a beginner's spear, and a sword bathed in dragon's blood.

Picking up the beginner's spear, he immediately felt as if a new memory had been added to his mind.

Wielding the spear in his hand according to the memory, whooshing sounds emanated, and the spear tip had already turned into an afterimage. He seemed to have instantly become a seasoned spear master.

Along the way, he and Kaede had also opened many treasure chests, naturally obtaining some weapons from them.

Whenever he touched a certain type of weapon for the first time, a memory related to that weapon would instantly appear in his mind, as if he had suddenly gained years of experience in practicing these weapons.

Although these experiences and memories were not enough to make him an absolute master, they were sufficient to make him a skilled practitioner.

Taking a deep breath, he put away the spear and turned his head to see Kaede's sparkling eyes fixed on him.

She picked up the sword bathed in dragon's blood, as if to swing it.

Haruto quickly reached out to stop her, and with extreme speed, put it into his backpack.

Kaede saw the greatsword disappear out of thin air from her hand. She was stunned for a moment, then looked up and opened her mouth to speak, but saw a palm coming towards her.

Gently chopping towards Kaede, Haruto looked at her and said in a calm tone, "Children shouldn't play with such dangerous things."

Kaede touched her head, looked at Haruto who had withdrawn his hand, scrutinized him up and down, pouted, and secretly grumbled in her heart.

Weren't you having a lot of fun just now? It's still hard to say who's older and who's younger between us.

Looking at little Kaede's cute appearance, Haruto couldn't help but smile faintly. He reached out and gently pinched Kaede's puffed-up cheek, comforting her warmly.

"Alright, when we get to Minato Harbor and settle down, I'll let you play with it. And then I'll teach you swordplay properly, okay?"

Hearing this, Kaede's face immediately bloomed again with a smile.

Seeing her like this, Haruto shook his head helplessly.

After all, she's still just a child.

Haruto walked two steps to the side and opened the wooden boxes and barrels in the Hilichurl camp. Inside were some ingredients like potatoes, carrots, and beast meat.

Haruto put them all into his backpack.

...

Noon.

Haruto and Kaede sat on the grass by the river, with a burning bonfire in front of them. Both of them held a sharpened stick, with a piece of beast meat skewered on it, roasting it over the fire.

After waiting for a long time, once the roasted meat was cooked, Kaede impatiently put it into her mouth and chewed.

But immediately, she let go of it again because the roasted meat was too hot.

She stuck out her tongue and fanned it with her hand.

Seeing this, Haruto immediately handed her a bowl of water.

"Slow down, no one's going to snatch it from you," Haruto's helpless voice came.

Looking at Kaede like this, she didn't seem much like the dashing Big Sister she would become in the future.

Haruto lowered his head and glanced at the roasted meat in his hand. Although he did have some cooking skills, there were no seasonings in the wild, so the taste of the roasted meat wasn't very good.

For him, the taste was still a bit difficult to swallow.

Haruto forced himself to finish the roasted meat in front of him, tidied up, then stood up and turned his head to look at Kaede, who had already finished eating.

He tilted his head towards the path ahead: "Let's go, continue forward."
