The demon watched his opponents closely and smirked slightly.
"Ho-rrr... Humans… you can't defeat me. Neither your mental nor your physical attacks will have any effect."
Leo tensed up when he heard that voice and muttered,
"This creature… it doesn't just speak — it thinks."
Bo Hai added, his voice trembling slightly,
"You're right. And it looks like this demon was born only recently."
Sai, shocked by those words, exclaimed,
"Recently?! That monster? Damn… we're in serious trouble."
The demon listened to their conversation with a cold smile and then sank into memories — three months earlier.
Deep beneath the city of Beijing lay thousands of demon eggs of the lowest rank.
Among them, one was enormous — crimson red, pulsing like a living heart.
Beside it stood a man dressed in black. His name was Deitel Lishar. He glanced at the egg and asked,
"So, what are we going to do with this mid-tier demon?"
The person next to him replied calmly, but with chilling confidence,
"We will attack the Academy of Awakened."
Deitel chuckled softly.
"Hah… so that's why we've been hiding underground in Beijing. I didn't expect that kind of plan."
"Yes. When the exchange begins, take your men and set up the Five-Ring Barrier," the man said, staring straight into Deitel's eyes.
"As you wish. As long as the money flows, I'll get the job done," Deitel replied with a sly grin.
At that moment, the mid-tier demon lying in the nest opened its eyes — it had heard every word.
Back in the present, the demon looked at his enemies with a dark grin and pointed his finger at them.
A golden orb began forming at its tip.
"Damn it! Run!" Lao Wei shouted.
In an instant, the demon launched the sphere toward them. But suddenly, Emma appeared in front of it.
Gripping the hilt of her golden sword tightly, she slashed the air and activated her technique:
"Inviting Light!"
Her blade burst into dazzling brilliance. When the sword met the orb, it started absorbing its power.
Emma's breathing grew heavy — the demon's energy was overwhelming.
"Damn it… this energy… it's too much for me to absorb completely," she thought.
After ten seconds, the blinding light slowly faded away.
When the radiance died, Emma fell to her knees, gasping for breath.
"Lady Emma!" Leo shouted, rushing to her side.
He knelt down, taking her hand. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine… I absorbed his monstrous energy. I just need time to make it mine. Hold him off for me," she said with effort.
"Understood," Leo nodded firmly.
He prepared to attack, but Bo Hai stopped him.
"We don't stand a chance. He's been toying with us — he hasn't even used his true power yet."
"Then what are we supposed to do?!" Leo yelled in frustration.
"Defend," Bo Hai answered sharply.
But before he could finish, the demon appeared right in front of him.
Bo Hai didn't have time to react — just a flash of light and a sudden movement.
Leo lunged forward, using his technique:
"Twin Tigers!"
His blow struck the demon's face, but it was blocked effortlessly.
Without hesitation, Leo grabbed Emma and retreated toward the others.
Bo Hai and Lao Wei moved in sync, shouting their own techniques:
"Soul-Chasing Arrows!" Lao Wei roared.
"Divine Spear!" Bo Hai added, pointing his finger at the demon.
Twenty glowing arrows and a brilliant spear shot toward their foe.
But the demon only raised both hands and muttered:
"Demonic Burst."
His body flared with golden light — and then came a massive explosion.
Everything around erupted, and the shockwave annihilated everything within thirty meters.
At the last second, Li Kun appeared.
He tossed a strange cube forward and yelled,
"Open!"
The cube instantly unfolded into a barrier, protecting all the students.
The explosion tore past them, leaving behind a devastated wasteland.
The barrier cracked — five seconds later, it shattered completely.
"Damn it… that was my last one. I paid thirty thousand yuan for that…" Li Kun muttered, looking at the cube's remains.
Bo Hai turned to him.
"Thank you. I'll pay you back."
"Seriously?" Li Kun blinked.
"Yes," Bo Hai replied shortly.
Li Kun's robot was different from before — taller, with a gray-red armor shell and upgraded systems.
It was stronger and faster than the previous model.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the field, Xing said quietly,
"It's time for us to go, my brother."
David looked at him coldly.
"We are not brothers."
Xing just smirked.
"If you say so.".
