# Chapter 3: Clues for Class Selection – High-Quality Human

2024-11-18 Author: Amnesty L

The game "YGGDRASIL" was completely different from games in the traditional sense. Its death penalty was extremely high; dying would cause you to directly lose five levels, and if your level wasn't high enough, your account would be deleted.

To mitigate the cost, one either had to activate resurrection magic or carry resurrection items—pay-to-win items such as a Ring of Resurrection, Short Staff of Resurrection, and so on.

Tang Zheng, however, didn't possess any of these resurrection items. Furthermore, he suspected that even with a Player's innate ability, there would be no automatic resurrection upon his death.

After all, this was a real Otherworld, not a game.

He couldn't afford to be anything but cautious!

As Tang Zheng chewed on the hard black bread, he reached for the shortsword at his waist, the one he'd bought with silver coins.

Without magic like Item Appraisal, he naturally couldn't obtain information about the shortsword in his hand.

However, even without that magic, Tang Zheng knew that the shortsword in his hand was an utterly ordinary weapon, offering no stat bonuses whatsoever.

He bought this weapon not only for self-defense but also because touching it revealed how to activate a class!

*Buzz—*

*Contact with Weaponry: Shortsword. Basic Class Information obtained: Warrior.*

*Acquire Class?*

Tang Zheng held the shortsword in front of him. After a moment's wait, information appeared on the status panel before his eyes.

"No!" Tang Zheng immediately thought.

The information about acquiring a class dissipated from the status panel. This was clearly not the first time it had appeared; it had shown up once already when he bought the sword.

Including this time, Tang Zheng had already refused twice.

He had discovered that by touching a corresponding weapon for a period, he could trigger relevant class prompts. When he was in the weaponry shop, he had touched a special shield.

The result was the activation of an intermediate class called "Black Guard." However, he couldn't acquire the class. To obtain it required a prerequisite basic class called "Guardian."

This excited Tang Zheng somewhat, so much so that under the shopkeeper's almost murderous gaze, he touched every piece of weaponry he could get his hands on.

Unfortunately, apart from that shield, all the other items could only activate the basic "Warrior" class.

In the game *Overlord*, class levels were divided into three categories:

Basic Class (15 levels)

Intermediate Class (10 levels)

High-Tier/Special Class (5 levels)

These three types of classes could only be leveled up to their respective maximums.

In YGGDRASIL, the total number of classes exceeded two thousand, truly boasting a vast class system.

Unless it was intentional, it was almost impossible for two Players to have identical class builds.

After Tang Zheng discovered that he could acquire a class when purchasing the shortsword, the reason he hadn't done so until now was because he was keenly aware of one thing: Level 100! This was the level cap!

All basic classes had a 15-level cap. To contend with the beings of the Great Tomb, a pure warrior or caster class would clearly not work, as they would be easily countered.

In other words, if Tang Zheng wanted to avoid obvious shortcomings, he would need at least one basic warrior class and one basic caster class.

And these two basic classes combined already accounted for 30 levels, significantly reducing the options for the remaining 70 levels.

He had to be extremely cautious! Once a class build went wrong... the margin for error was too low, forcing Tang Zheng to be prudent!

Chewing on the dry black bread, Tang Zheng's brows furrowed slightly. He sat on the ground, head bowed, a thoughtful expression flickering in his eyes.

Regarding the choice of basic classes, he currently had no clear idea, or rather, dared not make a decision.

If not for the threat of the Great Tomb, and only facing the natives of this world, he wouldn't need to be so conflicted.

In this world, the only true threats were the True Dragon Lords.

Furthermore, if Tang Zheng wanted to reach level 100 quickly, there were shortcuts.

YGGDRASIL's class system didn't necessarily require a class to be leveled to its maximum. If one acquired 100 different classes, a Player's level could directly reach 100. However, such a level 100 character was extremely weak and held little value.

Ever since Tang Zheng learned about the situation of the world he had been transported to yesterday, he had been contemplating how to bridge the gap if he were to become an enemy of the Great Tomb of Nazarick.

After much thought, it boiled down to two points!

① Utilize mechanics unique to the Otherworld that were absent from the game *Overlord*. Examples: Martial Skills, the Re-Estize Kingdom's national treasure 'Razor's Edge,' the 'Ring of Genesis,' etc.

② Must acquire a Special Class!

Special Classes were more powerful than High-Tier Classes, and they all came with powerful special skills or effects, with a strength that could even surpass Super-Tier Magic.

Only by possessing a Special Class! Tang Zheng felt that only then would he at least stand a chance of facing the Floor Guardians of the Great Tomb of Nazarick one-on-one.

Tap, tap—

Footsteps emerged from the crowd on the street, approaching Tang Zheng, who was squatting by a wall corner, head down in thought, seemingly troubled by something.

A shadow blocked the muggy sunlight. He felt a hint of coolness.

Tang Zheng was the first to snap back to reality. He looked at the shadow on the ground, his heart tightening, and tried his best to maintain an expressionless face as he looked up at the figure before him.

It was a young boy. He had short golden hair, with bangs that almost covered his eyes, giving him a somewhat mushroom-like haircut. The first impression he gave was of a gentle personality.

He wasn't very old. His clothing was rather ordinary, but the material was much better than Tang Zheng's clothes, which were worth only a few copper coins.

Looking at the golden-haired boy who appeared before him, Tang Zheng momentarily froze, a hint of surprise flashing in his dark brown eyes.

*Nfirea Bale?*

The future "Genius Pharmacist," one of the few humans even the Bone King highly valued.

Although the boy's current appearance differed slightly from when the story began, his overall look wasn't significantly different, so recognizing him wasn't difficult.

"Hello, have you encountered any difficulties?" Nfirea Bale asked softly, a little shyly, his tone very sincere.

*Difficulties?* That question made Tang Zheng pause.

He glanced at the half-eaten black bread in his hand, his posture as he squatted in the corner, and the dejected aura he gave off.

Tang Zheng mostly understood. *Damn it! I'm being pitied!*

Tang Zheng's mouth twitched, and he replied expressionlessly, "No."

"What are you doing, Nfirea Bale?" Just then, a cold voice came from behind.

A small old woman, only about 1.5 meters tall, with pale hair wrapped in a green headscarf, looking utterly inconspicuous, walked over with a cold expression.

Hearing the old woman call out the name of the boy with the mushroom haircut, Tang Zheng's thoughts were confirmed.

*It really is Nfirea Bale,* he thought.

If there had been any uncertainty before, now it was practically confirmed.

Tang Zheng subconsciously glanced at Nfirea Bale again. This was a true talent.

He possessed dual variant classes like "Alchemist (Genius)" and "Potion Master (Genius)."

These were unique class variants found only in the Otherworld, which could also be described as an innate talent.

Classes marked with "(Genius)" allowed the user to increase the number of skills learned for that class, acquire some related skills beyond their own level range, and improve the power of those skills.

In just a few years, Nfirea Bale used local herbs to produce the legendary Blood of the Gods from the Otherworld, which in the game was known as a low-tier red potion.

Potions of this tier were plentiful in the Great Tomb, but no matter the quantity, they would eventually run out. The fact that Nfirea Bale could produce them made the Bone King's attention understandable.

Furthermore, Nfirea Bale also possessed an innate ability: "Unrestricted Item Use"!

This ability allowed Nfirea Bale to use any item, including magic scrolls and armaments that didn't match his class, race-restricted items, and so on.

Even Guild Weapons, which only guild members could use, could be equipped and used normally!

Thinking of this, Tang Zheng took a deep breath. Such a talent—it could truly be called a high-quality human of the Otherworld.

To a certain extent, Nfirea Bale could even pose a threat to the Great Tomb!
