Chapter 4 - Making a wooden sword and training with it

There was all the flesh stored from the market and plain sheep skin stacked nearby on crates.

No one was watching.

Hassan looks around quickly, then takes out his kunai, bends down, and cuts a small portion of the sheep skin.

He grabs it fast and runs away before anyone sees him.

He gets back home, out of breath but smiling.

Inside, he takes the sheep skin and washes it clean in the sink.

Then he pulls out glue from a drawer and carefully applies it on the wooden sword's grip.

He wraps the sheep skin tightly around the handle.

After it dries, he holds the sword again.

> "Now it doesn't hurt... this grip's perfect."

---

He walks outside with the sword and heads toward a tree near the edge of the training ground.

He holds the wooden sword in one hand and closes his eyes.

He focuses.

All sound becomes clearer — wind in the leaves, the chirping of birds, and faint steps in the grass.

He starts to train his senses, moving quietly, listening to every sound, and trying to locate random animals just by hearing.

One rabbit.

A squirrel.

A small bird.

He moves in the direction of each sound, swinging carefully, silently, learning how to fight even without his sight.

Time passes.

Hours go by.

Sweat drips down his neck. His grip is steady. His breathing is calm.

When the sun starts to set, he finally stops and walks back to his apartment.

He puts the sword down beside his bed, takes off his shirt, drinks water, and lies back, looking up at the ceiling.

> "Tomorrow… I'll be even stronger."
