Mercer bent over laughing at Isaac's comment and spoke, "I personally don't know if they make good clothes, but I have heard from some people that they are good for fighting. The only reason I don't wear monster clothes is because my armour is enchanted by magic." Mercer walks into a small shed that has a small window.
Isaac followed behind him into the shed, which was filled with weapons of all kinds made out of horns and bones. Looking around, Isaac didn't even recognise half of them, from swords of all shapes and sizes, to spears and other pole arms, all of them were bigger than him.
Mercer spoke up "Most of these belong to the other guards but we can sort out some sort of way to pay then back once you pick a weapon, you don't really have any mussel on you so we can build you up to what ever weapon you want, and while I don't know what your core power is, it should have some combat applications right."
Isaac looked around the room and responded "I am not even shocked that you can guess my core power but you are right, it will take maybe a week before you can see it being used for combat but it should level out the playing field, as for weapons I don't know much about them, I know small bits of hand to hand fighting since it was taught at school's but I think the most i could do would parry someone."
Mercer listened and relayed his thoughts, "Maybe a sword or bladed weapon, and when we put some mussel on you, we can try using a shield. We don't have a lot of people who use swords anymore, most people just have a small stiletto or another type of dagger they can use in case they can't reach their weapon.
Isaac walks over to the collection of swords, all of them were slightly different from longer handles to wider hand guards all of them seemed to be perfectly fit for anyone but him, Isaac spoke hoping to get some help to pick the sword he wants "I was something that can used as an all rounder, you know like something that could be used with a core power but still be strong"
Mercer gave a confused look before assuming it had something to do with Isaac core power "If you want an all round sword then the long sword would be a good pick, and we can give you a small dagger to cover the close quarter combat, but we can always try something else if you don't like the feel."
Mercer took a longsword off wall and handed it to Isaac, its blade was made out of a long shard of obsidian it was sharped to the same degree as a scalpel, it has a hand guard was mad out of the same obsidian but slightly curved down, the handle was made out of bone with black accents, its felt like it weighs a tone in Isaac's untrained hands, as the blade fell towards the floor.
Mercer let out a laugh and looked at Isaac, "We really have to get you started on some basic workouts so you can use that. That sword should do you some good. Funny thing is that the bone that the handle is made of is from a Puppet Master."
Isaac drags the sword out of the shed and mutters to himself, "core voice, I know who I would like to 'learn' from." Isaac's head floods with the core power's voice, "Who shall 'we' 'learn' from." Isaac spoke, "We will 'learn' Mercer's super strength."
Isaac feels a burning pain from his traps down to his forearms and into his wrist, his legs burn as they twitch uncontrollably. Isaac's core voice speaks, "Due to the core power being common level, it will be longer to master, and due to the core power already being evolved, it will take longer to master, and due to the power being cursed by the previous user, it will take longer to master." Isaac feels his bones attempt to crawl out of his body, his muscles tear and reform, black ooze pours out of his body from the pores in his skin, and an unworldly stench floods the small outcrop as many people cover their noses.
Mercer walks over and pours cold water over him and speaks, "I assume this has to do with your core power. I thought you said it would take a week."
Isaac responded, "I said it would take a week to be able to use it for combat, you try and have your body altered in a few minutes and still be able to walk normally." The black fluid flows off his body and into the puddle of water at his feet, Isaac stands up and checks him self out, His body has got some descent muscle, he could most likely swing his sword about now, but it seems like only his muscles, ligament, and tendons got stronger, his lungs and other organs are still just as weak, so he would still have work on his stamina. Isaac picks up his sword.
Mercer speaks, lets get you cleaned up and show you the place you will be staying in for the foreseeable future, they walk into the storage room and down some steps into a place that looks like a hotel hallway, above each door a name plate is placed they walk towards the end of the hallway "this is the room you will be staying in." Mercer gives the name plate to Isaac and tells him, "I assume you don't know how to turn on and off your core power, it is the intent, and it's the same for the name plates, you have to intend to put your name on it, when your name disappears that mean you are dead."
Isaac listens to the small explanation, but only faintly understands it, and can gather that by thinking about using the new super strength, he will be able to use it. Isaac thinks about his name and feels a small ounce of stamina flow into the nameplate. Looking at it, he sees his name written on it, and he puts it above his door.
Mercer speaks, "That should be you done, rest up for now, and tomorrow you will meet the others and begin training and learning how we do things." Isaac enters his room and mutters, "So the kid's name is Isaac Wright. Sounds like the type of name such a weird kid would have."
Isaac walks into his room and straight to the shower to clean up While undressing, he thinks about his core power.
