Chapter 3 - Room 3B

Tasha stood for a moment, still mad about the rude guy. But then she shook her head. No time for that. Sabrina was waiting. She pulled out her phone and opened the campus map app.

"Okay, dorms... dorms..." she mumbled, tracing lines with her finger. "Aha! West Quad, then down past the library."

The campus was full of life. Students hurried by, some chatting loudly, some on skateboards. She saw groups laughing, others studying on benches. Tasha felt a thrill. This was her new world.

She walked past old, ivy-covered buildings and shiny new ones. The air smelled like freshly cut grass and something sweet from a nearby bakery. Soon, she saw a cluster of buildings marked "West Quad." They looked friendly, with lots of windows.

Room 3B. Room 3B. She checked the numbers as she walked down a hallway. Loud music came from one room, happy yells from another. Finally, she found it: a door with a small whiteboard that had "3B" written on it.

Tasha took a deep breath and knocked.

The door flew open. "TASHA!" Sabrina screamed, her face lighting up. She had bright pink streaks in her hair and was wearing oversized glasses. Sabrina pulled Tasha into a tight hug. "You're finally here! I thought you'd never make it!"

Tasha laughed, hugging her back. "Well, someone else almost made me late."

Sabrina pulled her into the room. "Who? Never mind! Look! This is our kingdom!"

Tasha stepped inside and her jaw dropped. The room was big for a dorm. Two beds were on opposite walls, both with bright, colorful duvets. There were two desks, two chairs, and two tall wardrobes. Sabrina's side was already a cheerful mess of posters, fairy lights, and open suitcases.

"This is amazing, Sab!" Tasha said, looking around. "It's so much bigger than I thought."

"Right?" Sabrina beamed. "I picked the best one! I even got the bed by the window for you, because you love looking outside."

Tasha walked to the window. It overlooked a busy part of campus, with people walking and trees swaying. "You're the best, Sab," she said, genuinely touched.

"I know!" Sabrina said, doing a little dance. "Now, come on, let's get your stuff in here! I saw your bags in the hall downstairs earlier when I was getting snacks. We can dump them here, then we have to go explore the campus! There's so much to see!"

Tasha looked at her unpacked bags, then at Sabrina's excited face. "Okay, okay, calm down. Let's just get my luggage up first."

She was ready for anything.
