Chapter 13 - CHAPTER 14

Roger and the four of them sat around the round table. Roger took the list and ordered some of the food that he liked which did not cost much. If he paid, it would not matter as he had enough money but if they paid, then they would not be embarrassed due to the cost of the food.

They talked about many things from college to their ideas about future jobs. Roger simple spoke that he had no such plans. While they were talking, the three of them talked about their background and how they came to this college.

Liam talked about his idea to create a startup. He talked about his idea to create a game company and create standalone games to be uploaded on GameApp.com which was the most famous site where games were uploaded. He said how the people were willing to pay small amount of money as long as the game was good enough without any advertisement was what Liam wanted to get into. He said his idea about creating two games, one with demo and one with payment needed for the complete game.

Even if the cost for the game was just 30 rubbles which was the cost of a snack for a college student, they would be willing to pay for it. It only needs a million people to buy it and they could make 30 million. Games that are sold for 30 rubbles per game would only cost about 5 million to make as most programmers would not need to paid that much.

Roger shook his head and said that he did not know the market analysis for such games. He also did not know how much would be needed as an investment and whether investment could indeed make a good game as money would not work alone but needs to be used where it would make the game such as providing it to programmers, buying resources and other needed things such as on fixed investment such as the buildings and computers.

So Roger simply said that he had no plan to invest on such startup as he did know much about it. Annie and Emily were also in the group with Liam, that planned to create a startup company to make games. So Annie spoke how it would be good if Roger joined their startup company with some investment and more shares and he could work alongside them and learn how to make games.

Roger thought about it and said that as long as they provide him with a good project plan about the game, he shall join them and is willing to pay a good amount of money as investment in exchange for some shares.

Liam nodded and so did Emily. But Annie did not like it as unlike Liam and Emily who were from a middle-class family, she was from a rich family. She could invest 5 million and hence had planned to take control over the new company. If there was one thing she learnt from her family, it was that power is more important than profit as power will allow them to gain profit.

So when she asked how mcuh shares he needed, Roger smiled and said that he was willing to invest 2.5 million for 20% shares if she too wants to invest as he believes that the one managing the company, the one building up the company, Liam , should be the CEO when the company goes public and should be the one holding at least 40% of the shares. He also said in an euphemistic that since Emily is just another programmer, she should not have more than 5% of the shares.

Annie did not like where the conversation was going. So what if he was rich. She was the first sponsor and she wanted to remain as such. They were invited here to let them get acquainted with this man and to take this man along with their charades while they enjoy.Roger seeding her dislike simply said that business is all about reducing risks and getting more shareholders reduce risk. Unless they are absolutely sure that this company shall stand toe to toe with her father company, she should just be a part of this company to gain experience and to enrich her resume when she is about to inherit her fathers' shares.

Annie got angry and said that her parents were not businessmen but were some simple managers at higher level, working for a MNC. But they earned about 10 million each a year and had saved enough money to let her walk on her wish of being a businessman.

Roger smiled and said that she cannot simply take over control over the company and even if she paid 10 million to gain 60% control over the company, they might not succeed. But if along with his investment and her getting lower shares, the company should succeed, she would gain more money which could be used for further investment expanding her personal business.

Annie nodded as she could not speak against it. The company if was to be run would depend on Liam as he was the one with ideas and the drive to build the company. While Roger could learn and make such games, he had no interest in it. As for letting Annie find and hire tens of programmers and letting them make the games, she was not someone that had the ideas of such games and for those who had such ideas, they were already hired by companies. Chances were not always available.

So the conversation ended with the four of them coming to a conclusion that they shall indeed form a startup company and Roger and Annie, each paying 2.5 million rubbles shall hold 25% shares each and Liam the one working hard shall hold 25% and shall have the shares shortened if he does not sppear to be good enough for the compnay and does not prove his value. Emily was given 5% shares for now as she was a good programmer at the level of a senior programmer and since she could not be given the rightful salary, she was given shares. As for the rest of 20% shares, it shall be saved for later if there was a need for investment and shal be only be sold at an auction when they make some achievements. If no one is willing to bid, they might but it depending on the money they are willing to invest.
